Update: The magazine went out of stock shortly after we shared this post, but it is now available to order again for free via this link!
If you don’t get an order confirmation on the site, keep trying, as it can take a few tries to work.Ā
Update: DEAD!
Ever since I was young, I loved flipping through the in-flight magazine to see the airline’s route map and fleet.
I remember being amazed at Continental’s Guam route network and wondering what was in far-flung places like Palau.
That route map also led me to realize back in 2006 that Koror, Palau was the most expensive place Continental flew to, which would make for an incredible redemption for 100 Airtran credits to convert into a Continental ETC flight credit.
18 years later, I still have United flight credits from those Wendy’s cups that earned AirTran credits which turned into tens of thousands of dollars in Continental/United flight credits!
A 2006 trip to Palau booked with Airtran credits earned from Wendy’s cups, converted into Continental credit:
I did finally make it to Palau in 2015 via the United Island Hopper, that time booked on miles, where I referenced how I first found Palau.
Alas, COVID did away with nearly all of the in-flight magazines.
Alaska, Delta, and Southwest’s final print edition was March 2020.
American’s last print version was June 2021, surely disappointing Michael Scott.
United actually mailed their Hemispheres Magazine to top-tier elites from August 2020 through May 2021. But while it lasted longer than the rest, the final issue is now available on planes.
You can request a free copy of the final September 2024 issue to be mailed to you through the MileagePlus Exclusives site, though the site can be quite buggy, so keep trying if you get an error.
Will you miss the in-flight magazine? I for one am sad to see it go!

I don’t know what it is but It says free…
Nope. As I got older I realized that the odds of opening to a page where immodestly clad women would be portrayed were high and figured it wasn’t worth whatever benefit I might get from reading them.
Reminds me of someone who asked Rabbi Miller Ztz”l (Gateshead seminary) in flight about the kashrus of the airline meal. He answered “it’s definitely more kosher than the in flight magazine you were reading “….
How virtuous
+1
Thanks Dan!! In for 10 of them!
Why do you need 10?
twas a joke. usually when somethings free people try to get more then they need
The real gem in this post is the resurfacing of the Wendy’s / Airtran promotion which seems even more hairbrained than the MIG jet giveaway from Pepsi…
Except unlike Pepsi, Airtran honored it. š
Good times indeed.
Wow. Now, it’s MUCH harder to earn miles.
The Alaska Airlines Milk Run is on my wish list …
Looks like the magazine is no longer being offered..
