Hawaii hasn’t had a LCC (low cost carrier) offering service to the mainland since the demise of ATA. It’s a market that Airtran, Jetblue, and Southwest have completely ignored.
Allegiant, an LCC that specializes in flying from obscure airports, has announced that they will soon serve Honolulu and Maui!
“Allegiant will offer introductory fares as low as $159 each way, including all taxes and fees, from Honolulu International Airport (HNL) to/from:
-Bellingham, Wash. — begins November 15 with fares as low as $159 each way
-Eugene, Ore. — begins November 17 with fares as low as $179 each way
-Santa Maria, Calif. — begins November 17 with fares as low as $199 each way
-Stockton, Calif. — begins November 18 with fares as low as $199 each way
Allegiant will offer introductory fares as low as $199 each way, includingall taxes and fees, from Kahului Airport (OGG) to:
-Bellingham, Wash. — begins November 14 with fares as low as $199 each way”

Watch out for a gazillion Ryan Air type nickel and dime charges and/or a website that requires removing some “voluntary charges”…
Dan, the HT is not working.
@Gary+1!
Seat selection? $15 each way minimum. Carry-on? $25 each way ($35 at airport). Checked bag? $35 each way (max LxWxD < 80", 40 lb. max!). Priority boarding, $10 each way (I like this option). Depending on the airport, if you want to guarantee you'll be sitting with someone, you'll be adding at least $100/ticket RT for 1 checked bag.
Hawaiian Airlines has had comparable fares during some sale periods…
So it actually seems that Hawaii is not Obama’s birthplace according to Drudge around an hour ago. I guess I’ll scrap the trip, low cost carrier or not. If I primarily have AMEX SPG and MR points as well as BA Avios whats my cheapest way to get ticket to Kenya?
