Update: United has now confirmed the details of the partnership. Passengers on United’s new Newark-Dubai flight can connect to more than 100 cities on Emirates and flydubai. United customers will also have Emirates lounge access.
Emirates customers flying to Chicago, Houston, or San Francisco can connect to nearly 200 cities on United on one ticket, pending codeshare approval. Emirates customers at Boston, Dallas, LA, Miami, JFK, Orlando, Seattle and Washington DC will have an interline agreement in place for luggage connections.
There will also be mileage earn and redemption options available with the partnership.

Both Continental and United used to partner with Emirates and offered award redemption bargains on the Dubai based carrier. Presumably a partnership will revive mileage awards as well.
Unfortunately, Emirates no longer releases first class award space to partner airlines, but hopefully this will open up some new award bargains. Emirates charges very high fuel surcharges for awards these days, while United doesn’t charge any fuel surcharges. With Emirates flying multiple times a day to Israel, this may turn into a great way to use United miles to fly to the holy land!
United also would allow for a free stopover in Dubai for as long as you want when redeeming for a round-trip award to Israel via their excursionist perk feature!
Stay tuned…

There is First class availability from time to time from TLV-DXB-NYC using QF miles
So maybe there’s hope yet…
Sadly, nothing with Alaska or JAL.
What’s the Qantas cost in miles and fuel surcharges?
I just saw availability this week with QF.
TLV – DXB – JFK was 170k (vs 150k directly with EK).
But the YQ was similarly expensive. I believe £980.
Btw, I believe on the EU fifth freedom segments, the YQ is significantly lower than via DXB.
Right, so no value to booking with Qantas barring a transfer bonus.
I miss the JAL/Alaska days.
Lower risk for audits
QANTAS has special partnership with Emirates, so their programmes are fully integrated, that’s why you can book F with them. They are the only one that allows it
Any value the other way around? Membership rewards to Emirates for a low-fuel-surcharge flight on United?
TBD
Will flydubai be part of this?
Might be a good time to get the United business card and 150k points. I was never really interested in any United card bc I hate going to Newark from Long Island. With Emirates at JFK its a whole different story.
Received my card. Now off to spend $20k…
Same for me. I nonetheless signed up for the United Business Card earlier this summer when the offer was only 75K for $5k of spending. Any chance I can get Chase to match and give me the secondary bonus now so that I can get the additional 75K? If yes, who do I reach out to at Chase? Thanks in advance.
You can send them a secure message on the website. Can’t hurt to ask.
Any idea what a economy or even premium economy in miles will cost? Plus the taxes
Would be interesting to stop in DXB on the way to Israel, and return with United or other *A partners.
Until now, you needed to stop in DXB on both ways to do that.
Can I credit a flight I flew on emirates in April to United?
does anybody know , i typed in by turkish the wrong c”c info , so the name does not match the card owner , i need the card for verification . Is there anything to do , as no more availability to cancel and rebook with correct card .
Dan,
Do you know when this actually takes effect? From when can we start booking these flights?
TBD.
Will they fly Newark to tel aviv
Not a chance.
