American also announced expanded Caribbean and Latin America service for this winter.
American has the weakest international network among the US big 3, so it’s always nice to see them expand to new places and provide more competition. United has done exceptionally well with its new service to Naples, Italy, so it’s no surprise to see American try that as well.
It’s also nice to see American expanding the season for their JFK-Athens route, as that was a route made possible and introduced with the launch of the now defunct Northeast Alliance. While the airline killed off their JFK-Doha route, hopefully they will be able to maintain their other JFK international destinations, such as JFK to Tel Aviv.

Is it a possibility they will add a jfk-philly shuttle flight for connections to international destinations or is that just too short a flight?
United does it to Newark, can always hold out hope.
I have taken lga to Phl to connect on American. Flight was about twenty minutes.
They just announced resumption of LGA to PHL flights at 2x daily. No JFK.

Highly doubt that returns anytime soon.
Bring back PHL to TLV

Agreed
Most excited about Philadelphia-Venice . That seems to be the smallest metro area on this list correct ?
what about the then planned PHL-CMN? or even PHL-RAK? which would be a great route and a first non-stop for an American company
Ord-Ath. Great for getting to Israel!
“ United has done exceptionally well with its new service to Naples, Italy, so it’s no surprise to see American try that as well.”
How do you know if an airline did well with a route? Do they release this info on investor calls?
They had to increase peak service from daily 777 to double daily 777 just to meet demand!
Bring back PHL-TLV!
My family travels between LAX-EWR. I’m a lifetime gold on AMR. I have been taking this route with Jet Blue through AMR but they discontinued their alliance. AMR doesn’t fly direct to EWR. I just booked tickets for Nov & Dec. with Jet Blue for direct flights between LAX and EWR. Will AMR have any direct flights to EWR in the near future?
No. JFK and PHL will be it.
Very interesting that there is no carrier from anywhere in the US with a direct flight to Hungary or Slovakia, whilst there are to many European countries in the region?
