I’m curious if anyone actually read through what private information these apps have on your smartphone. Why does amazon need to know my contacts/whom did I call/etc.. in order to play a game?
I was also excited to get all this “free” stuff. I just have this queasy feeling that it’s not that “free”.
Your thoughts?
Pretty much every app you download requires those permissions. So if you already have apps on your phone you already someone those permissions. I have the same reservations but you don’t have a choice if you want to use a smartphone with apps.
downloaded it and also got a $1 mp3 credit!
when i click the download button for the amazon app on my android i get a window saying that the file can harm my device and its asking me if i want to go ahead anyway. whats that about? i never had that with any other apps that i have
@Mendy:
The app has been $15 and had the same requirements. As do all apps.
@chaim:
Nice!
Should happen if this is your first Amazon app.
@ygift:
That’s because it’s from the Amazon app store and Google wants you to pay $14.99 to buy the app from their app store where they get a cut:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.editor.office_registered
There’s nothing shady about the Amazon app store, so don’t sweat it š
@ygift: That’s because you are downloading an app not through the google app store. The amazon app is fine.
@ygift:
Android is just warning you that it is not from (their) known trusted source, their own play store. There are some alternate places to download apps. Some are trustworthy, such as Amazon; some are not so much so. But since Android doesn’t evaluate all the different sources, they just give the blanket statement for any “non-standard” source.
Why when I download app store I dont see it by my downloads? My security is opened.
Not only got app for free but also got $1e credit toward mp3
I downloaded it, but I am getting an “Error while downloading fonts” message.

Added an address got the same message. Anyone understand what requirement I’m missing?
the app is asking for a credit card, even though it says it’s a free app… did this happen for anyone else??
