Update: As a commenter points out, of course you can always just make it a $10 donation and it won’t cost you a dime!
Just tried this method myself on an additional user card in my wife’s name (I already received credit on the primary account) on her Twitter account and donated to Chabad and got confirmation within a few minutes she got an email that she would receive a $10 statement credit!
This will not work if you have already made a donation to another Austin based organization with this promotion.
Step 1: Sync your American Express card with Twitter as described in this post.
Step 2: Tweet #AmexAustin10
Step 3: Check for confirmation that you are registered by clicking on @connect. (This can take a minute or so)
Step 3: Make a donation to Chabad At University Of Texas
Step 4: Shortly thereafter you will get an email confirming your $10 statement credit which should post within a week.
You can make a $9 profit by making a $1 donation on 03/13 only. Or make a $5 donation to Chabad and you’ll still make a $5 profit after the $10 statement credit.
You can link more cards by opening more Twitter accounts.
Also donāt forget to get your free $10 Best Buy gift card as well, you can even order the $10 gift card online!
The annual fee on your Starwood Consumer and Starwood Business cards will be paid off in no time by just partaking in a few of AMEXās awesome promotions!

Congratulations! By using your synced American ExpressĆĀ® Card ending in *****, you
saved $10.00 on your purchase at an Austin retailer. Expect a statement credit in 3-5 days.
Or, make a $10 donation, and it won’t cost you a penny!
Thanx! made two $5 donations. I actually tried doing this for your other post (donate to Austin Children center) but somehow it didn’t work. Now I know why !! This is a much better cause!
Just gave 10!!! For free nice
Citi Amex confirmed!!
Got a confirmation email from Amex for $10 credit for Citi Amex.
A $1 donation would probably actually cost the org money after cc fees etc.
Dan, Do you know if a gift card would work with this? already used my regular amex. Thanks
@Al:
That’s not true. A transaction fee would be 20 or maybe 30 cents plus a few percent. This definitely cannot cause a loss.
@ia:
I’d highly doubt it.
I linked two separate cards with two separate twitter account.
When I tried the second card with the second twitter account, AMEX responded:
@*** youĆ¢ā¬ā¢ve already enrolled in the #AmexAustin10 offer. If this is an error, please contact @AskAmex
Are they somehow tracking this?
@AmexKeepsTrack?:
I don’t think that’s true. Check to see if you have a positive confirmation on your 2nd twitter account.
i just tried, it, confirmed conformation at @connect, but did not yet receive the email for a $10 statement credit. how long should it normally take to get that email confirmation?
thanks
@Dan:
Checked again, and correct message.
Weird.
Do you think a number of $1.00 charges will trigger F/R – have alot of Amex cards thanks to you Dan š
@mfrankel:
And you received the @connect confirmation before you made the charge? You should get an email within a few minutes, but don’t sweat it if you don’t, you should still get the credit if you did it right.
@AmexKeepsTrack?:
That’s not an FR trigger.
are you suppose to get an email confirmation for the bestbuy10 also? cause I haven’t received a confirmation for either one. Am I doing something wrong?
also bestbuy10 is now dead, i just tried to make another user name for my wife and got back “max # of Cardmembers have enrolled in……”
so update: dead š
Lets assume the auth is 10 cents, the deposit is 10 cents and the interchange is another 10 cents,then if someone chooses to receive a receipt via mail that postage costs 30 cents, someone printing, and mailing easily costs more than 40 cents.
However if someone receives the receipt via email thats maybe a few cents to send. Entering the info into their DB is who knows how much but i guess they now have your info to upsell or resell so that has info. Bottom line donating $1 and making $9 is not a deal its being cheap.
As a side note i love this site provides great info, perhaps getting carried away once in awhile like $1 donations and using expired cards to get into lounges.
Can i make 2 different donations and get back $10 on each????? Or does it only work once???? Thanks!!
@Al:
You’re absolutely right, I hope people will donate $5 or $10.
My point is that a lesser donation does work and I sincerely doubt they will lose money from it. If they do I wholeheartedly apologize and will be happy to write a check to the Chabad House for twice the amount of any loss that this deal may have caused them G-d forbid. I hope they chime in and post a comment letting us know exactly how this plays out for them.
@Al:
Granted, though if you don’t feel comfortable using an inactive card then just don’t do it. If the card company didn’t want it to happen they would stop it from happening…
@Dassy:
You can only get back $10 once per card.
@dassy
Once per card, one card syncable per twitter account. With multiple twitter accounts and a different Amex card a synced to each, I’ve done multiple, with a confirmation email for each.
@ amexkeepstrack/Dan
I also had that issue. Made new accounts, opened them on my iPhone twitter app – which has other accounts on it, and it said already synced.
Perhaps I’ll have to open a new one on a pc not on my phone so they can’t track the connection. Although it seems inconsistent with sw allowing and some not in no noticeable order.
@dan
Do you know that they are aware of this whe thing? They may just find a bunch of small donations and wonder what is going on.
Just confirming for all you guys out there wondering. I just tried doing the $1 with twitter with an additional cardholder and I already got the email saying that I should be receiving the credit!! SBS here we go again!!!
@YG:
My wife just read me this facebook status of the shlucha from Chabad at University af Texas that she’s facebook friends with, “Go to dansdeals.com and donate to chabad!!!”
What time zone is this over at? I’m in the East coast, can I do this until 12am Texas time?
@meyer:
I would assume you have until 12:59am EST/11:59pm Central as it’s a Texas based promo.
@Dan
I’ll take that as a yes š
So do I have to create a twitter account for every additional user?
@meyer:
Yes
dan- do you think that it is working with eastern standard time? if so the deal is dying right about now. what do you think?
@rob:
Did you miss comment 26?
yes i missed that -even though i combed thru the comments lol! thanks
When I clicked @connect, it said:
@**** sorry, the #AmexAustin10 offer has ended. Visit http://aexp.co/faves to find our latest offers
tried it- it is dead right now. at least i got one in…
its been 2 hours and i didn’t receive a confirmation yet from amex about the credit. should i be concerned?
It’s been about 2 hours and i have not rcvd a confirmation yet from Amex about the credit even though the donation went through already. Should I be concerned?
If I don’t see the “@connect” feature on Twitter (possibly bec I’m running Internet Explorer 7), but I still tweet “#AmexAustin10”, should I be “connected” and registered for the promotion?
not working anymore
