1. Login to your PayPal account.
2. On the right side of the homepage locate where it says “Set Your Favorite Charity”
3. Type in the name of a charity you want to set as your favorite. Most local shuls and schools will be listed.
Select that charity and it will be your favorite.
4. You will receive an email with the subject: “Congratulations! You’ve received a $5.00 USD reward to donate”
Go here to see and scroll down to see the reward under “OFFERS”
Click on PayPal Giving Fund:
5. Click on Use Offer:
6. Go here to select your charity and donate $5 at checkout you will see:

Wanted to donate to Weston A. Price Foundation but it’s not populating in PayPal.
I guess if I didn’t get an email I’m not targeted. At least I set up a favorite charity

My immediate question was if it would qualify for a tax deduction or not… seems that PayPal isn’t looking to give away the write-off 🙂
From the confirmation email –
“Your contribution: $5.00 USD
Your Tax deductible contribution: $0.00 USD”

Why would this be deductible? It’s coming from PayPal’s money, not yours.
If you want to deduct the donation, you should also be counting the $5 PayPal is “giving” you as income, so it cancels out.
