Priority Club/IHG has an extremely generous best rate guarantee policy where if you find a cheaper rate on a competing site they give you a free night.
I just booked a room on IHG.com at the Holiday Inn Express Times Square as I found a cheaper rate for the room on hotels.com.
You have to book the room on IHG.com before calling in to make a claim. Be sure to book a refundable flexible room rate in case the claim is denied for any reason.
After making the booking I called IHG at 800-447-2981 to file a claim and they approved my claim after 10 minutes on hold They gave me a case number and said that my reservation will soon be adjusted to reflect the $0 room rate.
Every night I priced out is coming out cheaper on hotels.com, though it appears to be a limited time sale, so grab it as fast as you can!

Can you cancel that night and move to another night or does it have to be the night you originally booked? Thanks Dan
for what dates?
can you book it for more than one night?
@Question:
No changes are allowed.
@Brooke:
Works for every date I tried.
Only the first night will be free.
Do I have to book the “Book Early and Save” rate, or can I book the “Best Flexible Rate”?
thx
On hold now while they verify my claim. . .
so far the first 15 searches came back nothing available
@milechazzer:
I booked the flex rate.
@hunch:
Good luck!
@yitz:
Where are you searching and for what dates?
only for one night ?
@dan fan:
Only 1 night of a stay.
Anyone know if this works for a suite?
Dan, is it the difference between hotels.com non-refundable rate and IHG’s regular rate?
Thanx! Will keep you posted.. .
IHG’s best flexible rate seems to be the same as hotels.com standard rate. How are they honoring this?
@JudahA:
I don’t see why not but I also don’t see suites for sale.
@YYK:
Yes.
i tried motza shabbos and sunday hotels.com is same exact price for standard room
july 14 i saw the same price.
is $0.41 counted as a cheaper price?
Longest 1 minute wait time. Been holding or 10 minutes!
@shlomo:
No, it needs to be at least $1 difference.
@Chris:
Who said it would be 1 minute? I wrote it took me 10 minutes.
@zack:
@cbs:
I and my family have already booked a free room in April, May, and June.
They’re still out there. Remember to click through to find the total with tax on both sites.
Seems dead 🙁
And they don’t wanna refund my $458 🙁 🙁
Dan, can you give some sample dates that you looked at? Every date I looked at it’s the same…
@Dan Thanx appreciate it
dan what day this week or next week worked?
@hunch:
Not dead, I just got another claim approved 30 seconds ago.
And why would you book a nonrefundable rate??
@YYK:
What dates in April, May, or June have you tried so far?
I also searched for random dates in later months and they all worked.
@taft:
No idea, I booked in April, May, and June.
Cool
I’m still on hold…
So can I make 3 sep reservations for 3 consecutive days and get each price matched?
@Anonymous:
No, if you do consecutive days the hotel will deny you, read the terms in the link in the post.
How would I know if its refundable??
Dan, I don’t get it… Non-refundable rates are ALWAYS cheaper than standard rates. IHG allows for a cancellation and that rate is the same as hotel.com’s standard rate which also allows for a cancellation. Why would IHG honor this when hotels.com’s cheaper rate seems to only be the non-refundable rate…?
@hunch:
Advance purchase=nonrefundable.
Flexible=Refundable.
@YYK:
Both rates are cheaper.
OK folks here’s a sample date, though it’s hardly the only date.
April 21 for a king nonsmoking:
Hotels.com=$204+tax=$237 for nonrefunable or $223+tax=$259 for refundable.
IHG=$254+tax=$295 for nonrefunable or $279+tax=$323 for refundable.
I tried Mar 21, Mar 28, and Jun 2
may 12-may 13 works
Omg
Sitting on hold for already like 20 mins
@YYK:
March 28th? The whole hotel is sold out then.
Anyway I tried April 7th and it works like a charm.
@Anonymous:
#DDEffect?
on hold
Dan, what date in June worked for you?
I booked a “best flexible rate” which is completely refundable until the day before. I just got off the phone with with Holiday Inn and they full refunded me!
@Gabriel:
Sorry, don’t need stalkers. Already have had people call my hotel room while traveling…
Lots of dates work, plugin and try for yourself.
@Anonymous:
Congrats!
oh boy- Still on hold… What if they don’t honor it and i’m stuck with a $300 booking that I can’t afford?
Do they really not cancel at all??
@Anonymous:
Better question, why didn’t you book a refundable room??
@Anonymous: You got off the phone with holida inn or IHG?
Sorry, didn’t mean to seem like a stalker. Just went through each June date and nothing comes up with the 30% off. Just the normal rate.
was on hold for 21 minutes then gave up. my sleep is more important.. Thanks anyways
Can I ask for two different reservations ( diff names ) in smae phone call? the hold time is aweful!!!
Also been on hold for about 20 min. I’ve already submitted the online claim, though
I booked on may and it was lower at hotels.com but got denied for the BRG Bec of the the bonus points I will receive for the reservation does that make sense?
I thought I did!
Anyway to modify the reservation to the flex rate?
on hold for over hour!!
@Yos:
No.
@Anonymous:
Did they deny you?
@ari:
1. I didn’t even post this a whole hour ago.
2. I did another BRG a little bit after I posted this and it took just 10 minutes.
@dan can you have more than one claim per person if its on different reservation numbers
@Brooke:
Yes, but consecutive nights are against the terms and they can charge you for trying that.
Read the terms.
Okay, now I did it right. Lets hope it work \s this time
Wait times are really long. . .DDeffect is in full swing!!!
how do submit an online claim? Is it just as good as speaking to them on the phone?
@yos it does make sense. did you choose the Bonus 1,000 point rate?
was on wait for 35 min.. forget it.. its too late, hope its still up tmr..
On hold for 33 min
@ben:
No as it has to be there when they check it and it will probably be gone by then.
@Gabriel:
Ah, didn’t even think of someone being that greedy 😀
@dan da man:
Highly unlikely that this will still be alive in the morning.
@Gabriel: Yeah i did
@ dan Just confirmed my first refund
However, they only allow one match per conversation.
and no, they can transfer to another representative in their unit. 🙁
Been on hold for 50 minuts
Next time they gotta employ extra BRG staff before they do this 🙂
Do you think they are keeping everyone on hold on purpose? What’s the point holding then?
@Dan:
It is morning man!
@Dan: @Gabriel:
I saw that and I thought about it! I’m so glad I didn’t do it! Instead I just booked myself four different free nights! Thanks Dan!!!
any alternate #?
Whole process took me 55 min. But got the free night in the end. Thanks Dan!! @DansDeals
@ben
How many people you think work in the brg dept – especially at this time of night?
Is that available for other hotels as well?. I tried in niagara falls and it looks like the same price.
@hunch: start getting names of reps, we’ll see if its the same 2 handeling all the calls
avrg wait time on hold?
@Dan:
When u got the dates matched in april may and june, did you do it on one call?
@Dan: i tried march 28 and they said not available online. thanks dan.
K so now they just said they’ll contact the hotel with the lower rate, and request them to lower the rate
Is this normal?
@ yosef_S
did you wait on hold 4 different times or were they nice enough to let you do it in one phone call?
Do you think it helps if you actually book the hotel at hotels.com and even though the rate will match when this whole thing is dead, I will still have proof from my reservation at hotels.com??
At this point even though I didn’t book the proper refundable rate, I’m not too concerned since I have the case # and the rep said i’ll get reimbursed since she did see the lower rate
If they don’t reimburse the charge i’ll probably try disputing this with Amex since I have a case # as proof, along with their T&c’s which state that I shouldn’t be charged
@Jimbob:
Huh?
Btw, I waited an hour for this
Hope they’ll reimburse without a fuss and it wouldn’t have been a waste of time
@SGF
I spoke to joe about an hour ago.
try the holiday inn express kennedy airport for the same deal
I also took a screenshot of the deal on hotels.com, just to be safe
THERE’S A CLAIM FORM TO FILL OUT ONLINE !! NO NEED FOR 1 HOUR PLUS HOLD PN [HONE
I have a weird suspicion that they’ll figure out some way to deny our claims and refuse to honor it 🙁 🙁
@dan fan:
But I think they need to verify the lower price- how can this be done via a form? Unless they verify it when they see it tomorrow and the deal on hotels.com may be dead…
How do you take screenshot from a galaxy s3 ?
website down
brrrrrrrrrrrrr website down
How do you take screenshot
@ari:
Which website!?
@yitzy:
swype your hand across screen
@hi:
interconntinental
Any idea of how long it should take to get the refund?!
ye also got the website down excuse after waiting for almost an hr on the phone. Do you think they are playing games and won’t honor our claims.
tirrrreeeed
Just spoke to them, if you have a screenshot of hotels.com with your deal they’ll honor it if you call tomorrow.
website is down i think its dead 🙁
dead. Website isn’t working now:
“We are sorry, our system is temporarily unavailable. Please try again or contact your nearest reservation office for assistance.”
The brg systems are down now. . .
ihg.com seems to be down.
Deal is dead, they are not honoring anymore claims
site not working
Looks like all HI sites are down 🙁
It seems Holiday Inn took their entire site off line. I tried your linky, Holidayinn.com. and ihg.com and I can’t get the page to open.
website still down….
Their website is Down!!! Amazing that a major website can be dead from one post on DD!!!
the site is down all morning
Website still down?
I booked a room on IHG.com last night, and then tried to call for the best rate guarantee. Waited on hold for 35 minutes (with the message saying estimated hold time of 1 minute the entire time), then hung up. (They probably have no more than one representative answering these calls.) I checked hotels.com this morning, and my date is now sold out. I guess I’m out of luck now, and just have to cancel the IHG reservation.
site down
So IHG.com is down and there are no dates avaialable on hotels.com. I’m guessing they caught on and froze all their inventory till they can sort this out.
this hotel has been removed from all travel sites
the site is down for “maintenance”. Dan – you took down the website!
Website is down?
seems like its over
So what would they do to “fix” this issue? Would they have to force up all of the pricing on third party sites (like hotels.com) so that no one can make claims, or would they lower their own pricing?
Can just tell people no more claims, without doing one of the above?
Dan didn’t take down the website ht from ft did
All systems down! lol dan quite an army of online deal chasers you’ve acquired.
After waiting on hold in middle of the night for 30 min, my phone lost connection, it’s good i took a screen shot of hotels.com
The site is back up. You have to use their lowest price.
@SGF: They will match it if you took a screenshot of the final page
@Yos: What do you mean by “final pg.
Can’t find Holiday Inn rooms on any other site..
can’t find available dates. help?
IHG.com ha ha u crashed the site nice

We are working diligently to address the problem and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Please check back with us later today.
U can stay in ur house for free
@Hotel?:
My house is 450 miles away from Mike’s Bistro…
@Dan: dan why didnt you try the crowne plaza
you can still match at aa.com/hotels
I have been following your credit card advice for some time. Initially, I had a problem of the moral issues but you are making purchases and that’s how the companies make money. Somehow, I see this one differently. You are telling people how to get use of a free nite for nothing more than a “chap” Problem?
@Hedy:
If they didn’t want to give away free rooms they wouldn’t have this policy.
Use aa.com/hotels
JUST TRIED AND ALL PRICES ARE THE SAME!!!
@sill working:
Please elaborate
Also, did anyone get their refunds yet?
Still waiting for the confirmation that the room is $0. It’s already been at least 24 hours. They better not be pulling shtick on me.
@hi: yup I did
@Challah baker: call them. I just called them and they gave me confirmation after 5 mins on hold.
can i get 3 free rooms the same day?
Seems dead to me. I literally spent hours scouring every last site and checking every last IHG hotel in NYC to no avail.
The aa.com/hotels tip looked promising, but their rooms are non-refundable whereas the IHG rooms are refundable.
At least I did snag the Sleep Inn JFK deal (for what it’s worth…) so I’ll have a place to relax before flying back to Israel.
Can this claim be done online or have to call in? (hate to speek to reps. when I’m caller #… abt this issue in the passed few days)
Free suite at intercontinental NYC
Free suite at Intercontinental Barclays!!
@d:
Which # did u call?
U gave them your case # and they expedited the refund?
@jagstag
at which website did you find Intercontinental for less?
thanks
I reserved on IHG on Thurs nt and then gave up after waiting on hold for 35min. On Fri, they seem to have pulled all their inventory from third-party sites. And now that they restored the inventory on the third party sites, it looks like the the third-party prices have all been increased, so they’re the same as the IHG prices were all along.
@hi: the # that dan posted. I gave them my reservation confirmation number.
@milechazzer: try travigo.com.
Just called ihg and they said that although my claim was approved, they won’t do the refund till after check-in date. Was this a clueless rep?
go to getaroom.com i got the intercontinental in times square for april 13th
I found a room in another city and the total price was $406.80. I found on Hotels.com the same room but a total price of $405.62. I called up IHG and the super unfriendly lady DENIED it.
Make sure that the difference in price is more than 1%.
I repeat, she was a witch with a capitol B!
@banana, you need to read the t&c, in this case you would need to beat it by $4.68 which o 1% which is not easy. You are right they are terrible people to deal with, not worth wasting time submitting a claim, they will always reject it.
just got aporoved thankx dan!
@jelly fish
Why don’t you tell us were
intercontinatel via get a room
Thanks
I found a cheaper rate on Hotels.com and took a screen shot of it. I filled in a claims report and a rep emailed back saying
“Thank you for your email.
Per the program’s policy, all claims are subject to verification by IHG. IHG must be able to verify the lower room price and the total room cost (and, for multi-night stays, the average lower room price and the average total room cost) found on the non-IHG website at the time the claim is processed and verify that both the room price and the total room cost at the time of verification are lower than those found on IHG’s websites.
Below is the only room available at the time we have verified your claim.”
I do have a screenshot that I took right after the i made the reservation but she seemed to not care about that.
Any ideas?
Frum chutzpa! I am ebrassed with you. you want to rob a hotel and upset and calling names when they dont want to be taken advantage of?
I hope we dont belong to same religion. I am embarssed with you!
@jelly fish
You da man!! Thanks buddy,I got a suite for free.But unfortunately It looks like that web site isn’t displaying prices anymore.
@d:
I tried travigo and getaroom. Travigo doesn’t seem to be showing the cancellable rate, and getaroom says “call for unpublished rate”.
@Boo to Banana:
The websiet obviously made the policy that you get the room free for a night if you find a cheaper rate! That’s their policy, why can’t we use it?
@milechazzer: ya I guess they realized and don’t wanna give out any more free rooms so they took them all down.
I guess you gotta give them credit for managing to “contain” a situation like this without much of a loss. But unlike other “price mistakes”, the best rate guarantee requires you to call and speak to a human, so they were bound to catch on pretty quickly when their call/claim volume increased exponentially.
leah, its taking advantage of an entity and causing them a major loss, they didnt mean for teh frum oilem to gang and squeeze every possible mistake. callinga nd inviting all your friends to enjoy it?
Listim.
its not good midah for one to practice.
“metizas chen beeinei elkoim ve adam”.
Non of my Rabbonim would think its ok.
I just noticed that they changed my nightly price to 0.00USD, but now they are charging me $50 for extra person. Is this right?
any updates?
@Boo to Banana: I hear what you are saying but they are a reliable company, they didn’t have to offer that they will give a free night, they could have said well give you 10% off, but they decided not to, it wasn’t a mistake like the elal tickets, it’s their company policy.
still a live ???
Free suite at Intercontinental Barclays!!
@bony:
What date?
Additional Free Night Restrictions. Claims for hotels within fifty (50) miles of your home address are not eligible for the Guarantee.
