Rite Aid is running a “Happy You Year” promotion through 01/24 with 5 levels of potential rewards.
Purchase these participating products in store or online at Riteaid.com and you’ll get a reward code (worth 50 credits) for every $50 that you spend. You need to provide your Wellness+ card number to get the reward codes.
Spend $250 total (it doesn’t have to be in shot) and you’ll get 5 reward codes. Every time you reach another $50 threshold a reward code will print on your receipt. If you spend $100 in one transaction then 2 codes will print, if you spend $250 then 5 codes will print, etc. Online orders also qualify and the amount you spend online will combine together with in-store purchases to reach the thresholds. There’s a limit of 5 codes per person.
With 5 reward codes for example you can choose from:
-2 night camping/cabin reservation
-7 night RCI time-share resort
-2 night Hyatt Premier Certificates
You can select 1 of the level 5 reward code prizes per household.
I don’t know much about the cabin or time-share offers, they may be great. But I do know about the Hyatt premier certificate level award that they are giving out. Hyatt used to sell Premier certificates to the public for $189 per night, so theoretically that’s a $378 value. Though it can be worth much more (or less) than that depending on the hotel you redeem at.
I wrote all about Hyatt Stay certificates on DDF several years ago before they stopped selling them to the public.
Now Rite Aid’s terms of actually claiming the free nights is incredibly awkward. You can find them here.
In short, you need to select your reward choice online by 02/24 which will provide you with a registration form.
You must send in that form with a copy of your provide photo ID by 03/03.
You’ll then be emailed an online booking form that must be completed by 03/22 where you must select where you want to stay.
The stay must be at least 4 weeks in advance but not more than 365 days in advance.
Now here’s the really odd part, they ask that you select 3 different Hyatt hotels and 3 different dates.
The only good reason that they would ask for that is because Hyatt stay certificates are capacity controlled.
Luckily there’s a trick to check if your desired dates are available.
First locate the hotel where you want to stay that will accept Premier certificates.
Say you want to stay in the Hyatt Place Secaucus, located just 6 miles from Times Square, from 06/07-06/09.
Just go to Hyatt.com and search for Secaucus but expand the special rates section and in the special offer code section type in: HSPRN2
Then click through for the Hyatt Place Secaucus and you’ll see that they will accept Premier certificates that night:
The paid rate for each of those nights is $299+tax=$687.70.
Not a bad value for buying $250 worth of everyday stuff from Rite Aid!
If there is no availability for your dates you’ll get an error message like this:
So what will happen if you only submit the form with 1 desired hotel and set of dates? Good question. It would probably be fine if your dates do have availability but personally I’d just submit choices #2 and #3 as hotels that I know won’t have availability thanks to the code above 😀
Hint: The Hyatt Place Cleveland and the Hyatt Place Canton both seem to have terrible availability 😉
Post what items you’ll be buying online or in-store to hit the $250 if you decide to go for this!

Does it work for either of the Hyatt hotels in Hong Kong?
@barak – “Reward valid in the United States only (excludes U.S. territories and possessions).”
@Chucksterace:
Another promotion vaguery.
Are they talking about where you have to be located to claim an award or where the hotel has to be located?
And Premier certificates are valid worldwide so why would they limit it?
Any hystts in Israel and then I’ll do it 🙂
@Rivki:
Only in our dreams.
what happens if you return the products after you claim the reward night?
Il buy $250 worth of Advil that I probably will need just trying to figure
out how to book the hotel stays;)
Does rite aid sell GCs?
Why would you choose #2 & #3 that are not available??
Wonder what happens if one happens to submit three options none of which have premier availability…
How long after the purchase do I receive the reward? What’s Rite Aids return policy?
can you buy visa prepaid card at riteaid and load it with $250?
never mind – just read the post again
I was wondering the same thing if I may return the goods after I book the hotel room.
I am looking for a dansdeals option for my vages trip(4 nights sunday thru wednsday)in the begning on feb (just after superball weekend)
How do you figure out which hotels these can be used for? Links on ddf not working for me.
Are gift cards or money orders excluded from this promo?
@Neigeriger:
So that they don’t give you a stay that you don’t want!
@Ai-Travel:
@MaaYanky:
You guys need to click on those blue letters in the post…
DAN: The whole promotion looks a bit shady… my McAfee filter flagged the link and they collect a lot of information from you…read the promoters privacy policy before you do this. With that said, it seams like great promotion if it works and is legit.
@bob:
Thats pretty much impossible by the time you go through all of the steps and have a confirmed booking its gonna be wayyy past the return policy
wouldn’t the 7 days be worth more?
@jbbenz they make you sit through a time share presentation and they don’t tell you beforehand where you will be staying. It can end up being a real dump.
even if I can find Hyatt availability, there is no guarantee that it will still be available when I send my request. If all three choices have no availability, will i lose the free nights?
@Dan: From the FAQs:
“This reward is a 2 night stay at a participating Hyatt worldwide”.
AFAIK, rite aid takes returns after 30 days, but they give you a rite aid GC for the lowest price within 30 ays.
@Mendel: 6. Reward valid in the United States only (excludes U.S. territories and possessions) https://www.riteaidrewardrequest.com/YouYear/Terms#hotel_stay_terms
How about $250 worth of canned Tuna? Hey, it’s on the list! 🙂
@Anonymous: Did you read #1 before going on to #6?
do we know what catogory this works for? anything in nyc? GHK? what is considered a “participating Hyatt”?
Visited store, seems its not any $250 soend, but very specific items, and you dont need $250 of them for sure.
Returns – not yosher.
Ohr LaAmim.
and re promo, seems they get you a hotel chain sale deal, which you can get on the cheap anyway, and will need to qualify. (income, ID etc). No monkey biz. You can lose cert very easily.
Didn’t quite understand how the spending works. If I spend $60 and then another $40 will I get 2 codes or only 1?
If I buy and then return do I get it?
@Mendel:
Good find!
@Anonymous:
I think that just means that you must be in the US to participate.
@asr:
Click on the link in the post.
@confused:
2 codes as its cumulative.
i looked at this list. i thought i could buy similac which i can easily spend $250 on. but it says its only for 22.2 oz to 23.4 oz containers. i didnt even see similac with this amount on the website. the whole thing seems like you would have to be very lucky for it to work. let me know if anyone here gets it.
wipes, tissues, toilet paper- can totally stock up on those if the prices are decent…
Maybe use flexible spending account to buy $250 of stuff?
U can’t buy tissue. Check list what you can for deal
Deal too hard
@Tissue:
Me like cookie!
@Guywhocan: My FSA allows contact solution. So I will be buying $250 worth of eye contact solution with tax fee money and getting 2 nights at Hyatt for it.
if you do the timeshare option there are some scarce optionsin israel,
http://www.resortcerts.com/b2b/trco365
I saw reference to this deal somewhere else on the web this week. I thought you weren’t going to list it because, honestly, once you factor in the uncertainty and hassle-factor, the risk/reward isn’t there. There are, sometimes, “deals” that aren’t worth the trouble. This is one of them. Somebody is going to make this offer “work” for them. But for every such individual, there are going to be 10 who will be disappointed after investing the time and money.
I did some searching around on the RCI timeshare option for 7 nights. Naturally seems like a way better deal than 2 nights in a Hyatt…..although when you check the link they give you for availability – most locations only have “upgrade availability”. I only found a few places with lots of availability. Dominican Republic being one of them.
Also on the terms for the RCI 7 night certificate it explains that all TAXES are still the responsibility of the user. Time shares will get you in that way. I’ve gotten “free nights” in timeshares before but still paid $20-50 a night in taxes/fees… so it’s not free. I wouldn’t buy $250 of stuff and pay $150+ for a 7 night RCI certificate w/limited availability.
So that said – the Hyatt deals looks better if you’re looking at a weekend getaway…
@iahphx:
If there are items on the list that you buy anyway then what’s the risk?
Additionally thanks to being able to check on premier certificate space, it seems like the reward should be straightforward as well.
@Dan The “risk” is spending a lot of time ordering or buying the specific items, and Rite Aid’s prices are not always the best.
I can check premier space now, but who says that it will be available when I am ready to order my certs?
Does anyone know if all three choices are not available at time of booking, will they allow you to choose again or do you lose your certs?
@3yummyboys:
Prices may not be the best, but even if you’re wasting $50, that’s pretty low risk for potentially a $700 hotel stay.
I’d assume they would let you choose again. Nothing indicates that you would lose them.
Bankamerideals has a 10% off deal to rite aid, just log in to your bankamericard account to activate it first (up to $65 back)

@fineprint
what does that mean in English?
I can make this deal work! but, Some of the products on the list what you can buy are not even listed in the online store. (Like the bounce sheets 105 ct) Will try my luck with tide and tissues.
Thanks Dan!!
HT:lorribarnes Via FT: “It appears you can make a reservation to hold until you receive the certs. The code you put in is HSPRN1.”
@Dan:
The Hyatt in Israel WAS A NIGHTMARE for Rahavam Ze’evi
