Update: Eli comments that he was able to call the Clear support line (866-848-2415) to confirm that the first year will be free (a savings of $128) and to remove the auto-renewal option so that he won’t be charged for the program after the year is up.

i signed up for platinum, but they are still charging me $128??!!
How free is this? I tried to sign up but it requires a credit card number and nowhere does it say that the fee will be waved. The first page says to enter name and Hyatt passport number to see if you are eligibl, but then continues to ask lots of information but comes up to a page with fees and the request for cc. Comments? Suggestions?
Dan, I went thru all the links to sign up for it, they asked for a c.c. as it renews automaticlly next year for a $100 fee, I put in a virtual # do u think that will work ? also now after I did it I’m getting a little nervous with all that personal info that I gave them, is it relly secure……?. thanks
I applied for the hyatt card and the clear card.
Is the clear card catching on all over? Does it pay to actually pay for it?
Thanks for a wonderful site.
it says right under “payment information” that you will not be charged for the first year the cc info is just for renewal
Just to point out, the card is only available to American citizens and legal permanent residents so don’t waste your time if you are not either one. As always, thanks Dan for an awesome site!
do you only get this clear card for free once you stay in a hyatt for a night first
can anyone confirm that the first year is actually free and they won’t charge you when you sign up even though it you put in cc info and they put the fee on that page?
I just called Clear Support. They are very nice on the phone. I asked the guy to remove my auto-renewal which he did so I don’t have to worry about it renewing automatically in a year from now. He also confirmed that I will not be paying a penny this year, not even the $28 TSA fee, and it will be $128 per year starting next year if I choose to renew. I recommend everyone call and disable the auto-renew.
Another thing to note: You go to an enrollment center in one of the airports with a passport and ID, and it takes about 3 weeks for the TSA to approve you and another 5-10 days to receive your card. I hope to enroll next week in EWR.
i signed up yesterday and i also went down to the office to tkae fingerprints from me it took exactly 4 minutes the whole thing
on the website when you sign in your account under my profile there is a option to put on or off the auto renewal
does it actually save you anything? i mean you still need to take off your shoes etc.
anon: i spoke to them yesterday when i went down and they told me that as of now you still have to take of your shoes but they are working in the near future that you wont have to take them off also laptops you dont have to take out of your bags – it saves time – another thing now that you do have to take of your shoes you can have a perason hold your stuff there and help you
i went to the enrollment center today in the Haytt in NYC.
card should be in the mail within 3 weeks. FREE!!
is it only free after one stay or not?
