In order to get the free coffe you have to have a card which cost at least 2$

The medium size coffee is free. But you have to get a pre-paid card with at least $2 first, which you can use towards a purchase. So as long as you are planning to spend $2 at Dunkin Donuts, you would still be getting a free medium size coffee by joining. So yes, it is free — with some strings.
