Connect To Marriott On Social Media And Get 1,600 Rewards Points; Extend The Life Of Your Starpoints
Click “Sign Up” to link your Marriott number with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and you’ll get 500 points for each one.
After connecting you’ll have the option to follow Marriott on Instagram and Facebook to earn another 50 points each.
In total you’ll get 1,600 Marriott Rewards points and they post to your account instantly. Just logout and back into your account to view the points.
Marriott doesn’t count social media bonus points towards extending the validity of your points, but Starwood does. You can transfer your Marriott Rewards points instantly into Starwood Starpoints at a 3:1 ratio and they can go back from Starpoints into Marriott points at a 1:3 ratio at any time.
You won’t lose the points for disconnecting the accounts or unfollowing afterward.
I highly recommend having dedicated social media accounts that you use just for the purpose of these bonuses.

Hmm, only gave me 25 points when I linked my Twitter account
I linked all 3 of my social media accounts with Marriott, but the points have not posted… How long does it take to post?
Try logging out and back into your Marriott account.
@moe same here, I only received 25 points and I linked twitter and Facebook.
@Dan: I linked my Marriott and SPG accounts, and then the points just showed up. Thanks.
does marriott only allow to transfer point in 1000’s? i would like to transfer the whole 1,600
Got my 1600. Thanks
Do you need to connnect your Starwood with marriot first? How do you do this?
Thanks so much! Got all 1600. Just started getting into the whole points meshuga’as, glad to build up my portfolio.
For some reason I can’t seem to get credited for this. Although I did learn that my old points expired, I also learned that I was able to transfer them to SPG anyway.
How to disconnect my Marriott account from this social sites?
@Velvel: Bump!
I got the 500 points for Instagram right away but when I try to register Facebook and twitter I get “Invalid Marriott Rewards ID”. Is anyone else having this problem?
Dan,
I got this message from Marriott:
“Your Marriott Rewards account is configured to earn miles instead of points. Please change this in your Marriott Rewards account settings.”
How do I change to points?
Received this email:
”
Apologies — we weren’t able to award points for your recent post. Here are the most common reasons why this might have happened:
• Your Marriott Rewards account is configured to earn miles instead of points. Please change this in your Marriott Rewards account settings.
• You have reached the annual maximum of 2,000 points earned through #MRpoints. You can earn points through #MRpoints again starting next year.
• Your Marriott Rewards account may no longer be active. Please contact Marriott Rewards Customer Care to resolve the issue.
Please visit #MRpoints FAQs for more information.
Thank you,
Your #MRpoints Team
”
But I checked, and my account is set to earn points, I have not earned 2000 points through #MRpoints as far as I know, and my account is active. The only thing I can think of is that my account is a Ritz-Carlton Rewards account. If so this would be the first time that I have seen any practical difference between having Marriott Rewards vs Ritz-Carlton Rewards. But I’m just guessing. Anyone else get this message?
Thanks, Dan. Worked like a charm!
All I see is an option to link to a Facebook account, not to a Twitter account.
This is even on the desktop site.
@JMS I just got the same message……dunno why
