Typically Orbitz passes the charge onto the airline, so in that case it should work.

but you never know if one day amex will claw back

Called Amex after the offer expired and they said the will reinstate the offer
apparently there were a number of people on the AMEX facebook group that said they chatted with AMEX and this was an IT error — that the expiration date was still 12/31/21, but the system was putting the date the offer was added as the xpriation date.
Regardless — I used it yesterday…didn’t get an email though, so we’ll see that ahppens
I just spoke to customer service and they said that it started on the 14 and ended on the 15 and there’s nothing they can do. I even asked if it was an IT error and he said no.
The Delta Amex offer keeps going in and out of the “added to card” tab of my Amex Platinum account with the 12/31/2021 expiration date .
