Dan. I had tried 3 separate secure messages to Chase requesting them to switch the Visa to a MasterCard and all 3 times they came back saying they cant do it. What do you suggest?
sister has 56k US airways miles. I have 63K, wife has 56k.
Sister may not use her miles cos she is not interested in miles & points thing.
I am still not sure about paying $567 for transferring her 50k miles to my account.
the 100 bonus share mile is nothing but paying $567 for transferring miles right?
should I do it?
@jim: In your case, transferring your sister’s miles into your account is also of benefit to you. So you pay about 1.1 cents per additional mile and get her points transferred free. (of course, she could just give you her log in info for you to use her points to travel with for free. But having it consolidated is often a benefit.
If I got 2 of the southwest card last time and I have comp status thru 2014 can i get the other 2 cars now and extend pass till 2015 ?
@Anonymous:
thanks for the info but Isn’t this promo bit misleading?
It says 100% bonus. How is it a bonus if you give 50k for $567 to someone = A the sender to B the receiver & receiver B only receives 50k? I first thought if you transfer 50k for $567, the receiver receives 100k miles.
Please confirm.
Many bloggers are making it look like getting 100k for sending 50k miles for $567 fee and tax
@Dudesky:
Huh?
@Milzz:
Yes.
@jim:
Next time go with your first thought. It was correct.
@Dan:
Dan
Please explain what you mean? How is this 100% bonus shared miles a bonus if the receiver only receives 50k miles when the sender sends 50k miles for $567? I thought it mean receiver receives 50k miles that was transferred and a bonus 50k miles?
Don’t misunderstand, you are the only one I trust when it comes to deals and steals.
@jim:
Read the linked post where I wrote about it. It’s perfectly clear.
@Dan:
Yes I read your post
“Through 10/15 when you share up to 50,000 USAirways miles with a friend USAirways will double the transfer. The cost to share 50,000 miles is $567.50. So if you transfer 50,000 miles to a friend he will wind up with 100,000 miles instantly in his account and you will have effectively purchased 50,000 miles at a cost of $567.50 or 1.135 cents per mile.”
My confusion here is, the receiver only receives the 50k that was transferred or 100k miles? You said US airways will double the transfer? Or you are saying this because the receiver already has his own 50k miles before the transfer?
@jim:
Stop building sandcastles. Who said anything about the receiver already having 50K???
You send 50K and your friends gets credited 100K, it’s as simple as that.
@Dan:
i have 63k miles, if my sister transfers her 50k miles to me, I will than have 163k miles? Total cost $567 plus something?
@jim,
Read it again per Dan!
“if you transfer 50,000 miles to a friend he will wind up with 100,000 miles instantly in his account and you will have effectively purchased 50,000 miles at a cost of $567.50 or 1.135 cents per mile.Ć¢ā¬Ā
@karung99:
sorry one final thing here and I will end this here. The receiver receives 50k miles transferred by the sender Plus an additional 50k miles as a free bonus? for no more than $567.50?
Dan- how long after u apply for a card can u get it again and still recieve the signup bonus? Meaning lets say I get the sapphire preffered card with the bonus, then at the end of the year I cancel it. When can I get the sapphire preffered card again and recieve the signup bonus? Thanks so much!
This may seem like a silly question, but will Chase/Amex issue you a credit card that you already have, or do you need to downgrade/shift/close a card before getting a new one?
Also, unrelated – A Chase MasterCard rep told me today that my Sapphire Preferred MC does not provide rental coverage in Israel. I have a secure message pending with Chase to confirm. Does anybody know about this?
@Non Sequitur: I just got this response:
“Thank you for contacting Chase regarding the benefit on
Sapphire Preferred account.
I would like to inform you that the Collision Damage
Waiver Coverage benefit is not applicable in Israel. For
more information, call Insurance Consultants Inc. at
1-800-MC-ASSIST (1-800-622-7747).”
This is a bit annoying, considering that I switched over the to MC just for that coverage. Looks like I’ll be opening a United Explorer card.
Jim just think 100,000 points + -567.50 ends up in/out of ur pocket
@Dan: Sorry was reading an old post and figured you would automatically know what Im talking about. I have the sapphire Visa flavor and I want the MC as Im going to Israel and want the rental insurance. I SM chase 3 times and each time they responded that unfortunately that it not a possibility.
Please advise
@Non Sequitur:
You need to call MasterRental, not Chase for a letter off coverage,
800-307-7309
@Dudesky:
Did you try calling?
If I currently have the Southwest card, is it worth canceling it in order to reapply and get the bonus again? Would I be able to apply for a new card, keeping the current one, or is my only option canceling it?
@Dan: @Non Sequitur
Yes and they said its not an option. Non Sequitur, How long ago did you do this and what was your approach. Thanks
@Dudesky, I don’t understand your answer. Yes to which question – do I have to cancel or can I apply for a new one with the old one still active? I don’t understand what you are saying it’s not an option. Please clarify. Thanks.
@newdanfan: I was not answering your questions. Did you notice the @dan? That means Im replying to Dan. Welcome aboard. In answer to your question. Definitely cancel it and get another one, just be sure to open another southwest points number to use for the new card and then combine the accounts once the point post
I activated a british airway chase card. When I called about flying to Israel, they said there is a $700 plus tax fee to England. Does that make sense? What else can I use it for that I don’t have crazy taxes?

i received 2 advantage miles per dollar offer on my citi advantage amex card for online purchases. Do you think I will receive 2 miles per dollar for spending $567.50 on this deal?

Re: Amazon payments. Is anyone having a problem transferring money this month on amazon payments? I click the send money tab, put in the email address and amount and then hit send but rather then take me to the credit card input page, it takes me back to the home page introducing me to amazon payments. been having this issue for a week now on 3 different browsers and on 3 different computers….Advice???
@daniel:
I was having problems but kept trying at different times and it worked for both me and my wife. It seemed it was an issue with there system and it wasn’t a problem with my account. This occured while trying to add a new credit card and also while trying to send a payment. In the end it worked fine.
Hi All,
I did some point sharing between acocunts, the AMEX I used was charged,however, the points are still sitting in my original account and have not moved to the accounts I was sharing to.
On previous occasions I emailed received a confirmation email.
This time nothing.
Any ideas? Processing times?
Thanks…
Hi Dan,
On your post regarding Southwest 50K I applied for a C/C and got approved right away. What I didn’t realize in your post was that 2 CARDS CAN EARN….. How can I get two cards on my name? And if I can is it to late now that I got approved already?
@Eli:
Call.
@Ben:
Read the Southwest post. There are 4 different cards you can get.
@Dan: I called and they said it takes 72 hours to process and to just wait. Also, if it processed then it had to have worked…
Honestly, they don’t really sound like they know what they are talking about.
@Dan how long does it take when tranferring from SPG to BA to show up by BA the deduction from SPG was instantly.
@dans fan:
Can take 2-7 days.
The bonus posts in 4-6 weeks.
anybody please know ? which site do I check award availability on BA points ?
BA site doesn’t show award availability
