-25,000 points (or just 20,000 points for point transfers done by 02/29) are enough for a one-way coach award booked with Flying Blue miles for travel on Delta between the US and Israel with no fuel surcharges, but you are limited to Delta’s saver availability.

-50,000 points (or just 40,000 points for point transfers done by 02/29) are enough for a one-way business award booked with Flying Blue miles for travel on Delta between the US and Israel with no fuel surcharges, but you are limited to Delta’s saver availability.

I just got it last week with 15,000 bonus is there any way Amex will match it?
Where can I check Delta availability for us-israel travel at these rates?
what are good amex cards to apply for at the same time as this card?
How do you borrow points and how long do you have to pay back?
can i transfer these points into spg?
Hey Dan great post. One mistake is that you have miami listed twice. Once in the 4500 points section and once in the 7500 points section. I believe it belongs in the 7500 points section?
@Sunny:
Send a secure message to social media>twitter when logged into the AMEX site.
@tripper:
Delta.com, search for dates, open the award calendar, look for green dates, confirm the dates are for Delta flights, then book them on airfrance.com
@chaim:
Lots of good cards here such as Starwood and Platinum: http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=8028.0
@Hudi:
You need to call them. You have 1 year to pay them back.
@eli:
Not at a good ratio.
@clevelander:
Miami-Carribean/Mexico=4,500
NYC-Miami=7,500
I only have 9 months credit history so far. Do your guys think I can give a try?
is there any reason not to get the card?
There is a mistake in the post. It says that you can get one-way award ticket from US to israel for 25,000 and then says that it takes 50,000 two bullet points later. Which is it? 25,000 or 50,000? Thanks
@Dan:
Is an airfrance miles account required to get started.
What about air Canada.
In other words setting up mileage accounts with air France / Klm /air Canada is step 1?
It seems like the bonus’s are ample but the issuers seem to keep raising the minimum spend!!
I hate this! I never spend enough to meet the requirements >:(
@Moshe:
25k in Coach 50k in Business.
@Grubandgring:
Well you need those (free) accounts before you transfer points, yes.
@comp:
There are so many ways to meet them for free.
Amazon Payments, Venmo, Crowdtilt, and then there’s always fee-free AMEX GCs if you’re in a pinch.
Is this for first time applicants only?
@Dan:
as i can see that amex is not a good option for ap or venmo and also they dont let you return on a non amex card, what else do u suggest to get to the threshold besides amex gc
dan, could i apply 4 2 types of platinum and get bonus/approval on both
Got declined twice half a year ago from amex because no credit history. Since then i got united and continental chase and my score is 750 . Dan do you think I could get it?
If I have this card already and I apply for this again, how many cards can i have at the same time?
Would I have to cancel my current one first?
Would the points go into the same acct?
Thanks!
Did you cancel the card before applying for a new one ? And how long apart did you wait from canceling to reapplying?
Dan – If I have the Platinum already, do you think Amex can approve the Gold too?
Love this blog: I got instant approval with a 740.
How long do the points usually take to post, after minimum spend, and then transfer to BA? I want to go to mexico in May. I know SPG sometimes takes weeks to transfer, any experience with Amex?
could i make any free stopovers when using aeroplan miles for domestic flights with continental united or us airways?
dan does it hurt my credit rating to apply for this card?
Hey Dan if I got fr’d by Amex 3 months ago (I had an active SPg card and an active gold charge) I sent in my papers and passed successfully all they did was lower my credit on the gold from unlimited to $3000 do u think that would get in the way if I apply for this card?
Is anyone else getting an error that the offer may have expired when following the link?
Jay, I did – when I typed in my AMEX info to prefill the application.
@jay: works fine by me
@love this blog:
Sure, but be prepared to call reconsideration to get approval if needed.
@Yidel:
It’s best to cancel your existing one first.
@Joz:
Absolutely.
@superdeal:
The transfer to BA is instant.
You can call when you get the card to borrow points.
@moshe:
I’m not sure. Call and find out and let us know.
@cavs fan #1:
You may see a dip of a few points for the credit pull, but those fall off automatically and your score will go even higher by paying your bills on time and keeping spending low.
@Yaks:
Not at all, you passed after all!
@jay:
I’ve added some help for you at the end of the post.
I thought MR dont transfer to continental anymore? There are several mentions of Continental and United in this post. Am I misunderstanding something?
@Gabe:
Air Canada will book you on Continental/United with no fuel surcharges.
I just applied and instantly got approved!!!
I love you Dan!
@Dan- how is there something special that needs to be done ?
do you just transfer the points to Air Canada Aeroplan ?
or you just know that they will book on Continental/united ?
@Gabe:
Air Canada will book you on Continental/United with no fuel surcharges.
@Dovid:
Congrats, enjoy the points!
If you apply for more consumer cards the same day it usually won’t pull your credit again.
@eli:
Air Canada is part of the Star Alliance, so they book awards on any Star carriers, including Continental, United, and USAirways.
No need to do anything special.
Is there a Credit Limit on this Card? If yes, What is it?
Also can I have my SPG Card besides this Gold Card?
@ANONYMOUS:
There are no limits on charge cards.
You can definitely have this card and Starwood. You can get others like Delta or AMEX Platinum as well if you’d like.
Are those other Cards that you just mentioned also charge cards?
@ANONYMOUS:
Gold and Platinum are charge cards.
Starwood and Delta are credit cards.
FYI: I got a financial review last time around and she said since these type of amex are charge cards you can not buy gift cards with them. Since charge cards don’t allow you to take a cash advances and gift cards are equivalent to cash advances….
Dan, would I be able to do the same trick to fly to Italy with 50k points in business class since its in the Delta alliance?
Thanks Dan – just got instantly approved
Can I wait a few months before activating my card and begin the spending only then?
@dan, any idea how much I would be able to sell these points for
@Josh: No
Is it also possible to borrow spg points?
Can I get the same card in Canada?
@hudi:
Yes, just call AMEX.
@Mendel:
http://www.dansdeals.com/go/goldca/
http://www.dansdeals.com/go/starwoodca/
pretty neat – got approved tuesday morning and received card today.
@Dan:
But, if I currently have over 75k MRP in my acct, what will happen to them if I cancel the card (in order to apply for a new one)?
I mean, they’re not airline miles, and I have no clue where I’ll wanna fly in a year from now, and which airline I’m going to want to use at that point… So that’s my file in converting them to miles to cancel the card..
Is there any way to keep the points?
@steve:
Enjoy!
@yidel:
Downgrade the card to zync to preserve the points and signup for a new gold.
@Dan: i aplied for platinum and they canceled my application bec they said my previos application was still active. so instead they redid the previos aplication (wich was a card i already canceled). now my question is will i get the bonus again or not. thanx
Do Amex platium points expire?
Dan,
I got the Amex premier Rewards gold card last year and am now being charged the $175 annual fee. I called Amex and they refused to waive the fee for the second year, but offered a $50 credit and another $50 when I spend 500 in the next 60 days or a 17,500 miles if I spend 1500 in the next 60 days. Do you think I should just transfer my existing miles, cancel the Amex Gold to save the annual fee and then reapply?
@Dan: How can I downgrade the Amex Gold after a year and not be charged the fee and also not hurt my credit?
