My wife and I have earned our Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card 80K bonuses already, some 4 years after Sapphire Reserve, have you?
WOW! Earn A Highest Ever 80,000 Point Signup Bonus On The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card!
Table of Contents
Signup bonus:
For a limited time only, you can earn 80,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for opening this card and spending $4,000 in 3 months. Those points are worth a minimum of $800 cash back or $1,000 towards travel and other categories, but they can be worth much more as shown below.
You can signup for this highest ever public offer here.
The previous signup bonus offers on this card have been 40K, 50K, or 60K points for spending $4,000 in 3 months. Chase no longer matches offers if you signup up with a lower offer.
Annual fee:
There is a $95 annual fee for the primary card and no annual fee for additional cardholders.
Signup bonus terms:
- You won’t get the signup bonus on this card if you have received a signup bonus on Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Sapphire card within the past 48 months. You can call Chase to find out when you last earned a bonus on those cards or you can pull up your old statements online to check when you last got a bonus.
- You won’t get approved for this card if you currently have an active Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Sapphire card. However you can change those cards to a Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Flex card, wait a few days, and then apply for a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card .
5/24:
All Chase cards appear to be subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you are not likely to be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.
You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.com to check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.
Card earnings:
- 2 points per dollar on travel, including airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, subways, trains, taxis, tolls, parking, Airbnb, Uber, etc.
- 2 points per dollar on dining.
- 5 points per dollar on Lyft spending through 3/31/22.
- 1 point per dollar elsewhere.
- There are no foreign transaction fees.
From 11/1/20-4/30/31 you can also earn 2 points per dollar on groceries, including grocery pickup and delivery. The bonus is capped at $1,000 in monthly grocery spending.
Spend Threshold:
You’ll need to spend $4,000 on this card within 3 months.
You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.87% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes.
My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.
Card benefits:
- Primary rental car CDW insurance in every country.
- Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Insurance
- Lost Luggage Insurance
- Trip Delay Reimbursement
- Baggage Delay Reimbursement
- Travel Accident Insurance
- Purchase protection for items damaged or stolen within 120 days
Increased points value:
If you or someone in your household has a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card you can redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from any card at a value of 1.25 cents towards paid travel.
If you or someone in your household has a Sapphire Reserve card you can redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from any card at a value of 1.5 cents towards paid travel.
Pay yourself back:
Back in May, Chase added the ability to pay yourself back and redeem your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Sapphire Reserve Ultimate Rewards points to offset any dining, grocery store, or home improvement purchases at a rate of 1.25 or 1.5 cents per point through 9/30. They also added select charities to the program, which you can offset your donation with points.
Chase has extended those categories through 4/30/21 and tells me that Pay Yourself Back will be a permanent feature of the Ultimate Rewards program, and that they will add more cards and change the categories for the program in the future. This adds a ton of value to the Ultimate Rewards program as you can buy anything from those stores, even gift cards to other stores, and make them free by redeeming points at a value of 1.25 or 1.5 cents each. The ability to get that kind of value from your points even when you’re not traveling is outstanding.
A great feature of the program is that you keep the original points that the purchase earned, even though you paid yourself back for the purchase. That means your points will be worth more than 1.25 or 1.5 cents each!
In other words, if you spend $300 on groceries or dining on Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you can use 24,000 points to offset that purchase and make it free. Plus, you’ll still earn the 600 points for groceries or dining, so you effectively used 23,400 points to offset the purchase. That means your points were actually worth 1.28 cents each!
If you spend $300 on groceries or dining on Sapphire Reserve, you can use 20,000 points to offset that purchase and make it free. Plus, you’ll still earn the 900 points for groceries or dining, so you effectively used 19,100 points to offset the purchase. That means your points were actually worth 1.57 cents each!
Airline and hotel transferability:
If you or someone in your household has a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points into valuable airline and hotel mileage currencies.
Card convertibility:
You can call Chase to convert this card or any of the following cards into another card from this list:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ($95 annual fee)
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card ($550 annual fee)
- Chase Freedom Unlimited® Card ($0 annual fee)
- Chase Freedom Card ($0 annual fee)
- Chase Freedom Flex Mastercard ($0 annual fee)
Note that some reps will only allow card conversions after you have had the card for 12 months.
If you or someone in your household has a Sapphire Reserve, then your points will be worth at least 1.5 cents towards travel!
If you want to get a Sapphire Reserve, your best path is to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and then convert it to a Sapphire Reserve as you’ll get 80,000 signup bonus points instead of 50,000 points!
Killer Combos:
Stacking multiple Ultimate Rewards cards together can supercharge your earnings by getting you more points per dollar while increasing the value of all your points.
Read more about this strategy in depth in this post.
A Chase Bifecta would consist of a household that has the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Sapphire Reserve and the Freedom Unlimited. The total effective annual fees would be either $95 with Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or $250 with Sapphire Reserve after accounting for that card’s $300 annual travel credit. With the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card+Freedom Unlimited you would earn 2 points per dollar on all travel, 3 points per dollar on dining and drugstores, and 5 points per dollar on travel booked via Chase. Plus you’ll earn 5 points per dollar on up to $12K of groceries purchased during your first cardmember year. You’ll be able to transfer all of your points into airline miles or hotel points or use the pay yourself back feature. Read more about Freedom Unlimited here.
A Chase Trifecta adds a no annual fee card like Ink Cash or Chase Freedom Flex into the mix, so your total effective annual fee will still be $95 or $250. Both of those cards give options to earn a whopping 5 points per dollar in various categories on top of the 2-3 points per dollar that the Sapphire cards offer and the 1.5-5 points per dollar everywhere else with a Freedom Unlimited card. Read more about Freedom Flex here and read more about Ink Cash here.
A Chase Quadfecta would add both the Ink Cash and Chase Freedom Flex on top of a Sapphire card and an Unlimited card, so your total effective annual fee will still be just $95 or $150. The Quadfecta is the sweet spot and allows you to really supercharge your spending everywhere.
A Chase Quinfecta could add the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card to that mix, adding $95 to the annual fee total. This make sense if you spend money on shipping, social media advertising, or search engine advertising, or if you want free cell phone insurance.
Alternatively, you can create a Chase Quinfecta by adding the Chase United Explorer card, United Gateway℠ Card, or Chase United Business Card into the mix. Those cards don’t earn Ultimate Rewards points, but it makes your Ultimate Rewards points more valuable. Having a United card enables you to have access to significantly expanded United saver and standard award space in addition to benefits like 2 free club passes, a free checked bag, a free carry-on bag, and priority boarding, even when you’re on a basic economy fare. See more about those benefits here.
Again, all of these cards don’t need to be in one person’s name. 2 people from the same household can split up the requisite cards that make up the Quinfecta, as they can transfer the Ultimate Rewards points back and forth between themselves freely and they can add each other as an authorized user on their cards!
DoorDash DashPass Membership:
DoorDash DashPass allows you to get free delivery and lower service fees on $12+ orders from select restaurants that have a blue checkmark. There are also lots of promotions and free food offers available to DashPass members.
DashPass normally costs $9.99/month.
If you add your Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card to your Doordash account and open the Doordash app, you can enroll for free through 12/31/21!
Airline transfer partners:
You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:
- United (Star Alliance)
- Singapore (Star Alliance)
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue (Skyteam)
- British Airways (OneWorld)
- Aer Lingus (OneWorld)
- Iberia (OneWorld)
- Emirates
- JetBlue
- Southwest
- Virgin Atlantic
Hotel transfer partners:
You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:
- Hyatt
- IHG
- Marriott
The great thing about Chase Ultimate Rewards is how versatile and valuable they are:
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card allows you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles. They also allow you to use points at a value of 1.25 cents each towards travel.
The Sapphire Reserve also allows you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles. Plus it allows you to use points at a value of 1.5 cents each towards travel.
The fixed value is excellent and doesn’t require hunting down award space, but those points can be much more valuable by transferring them into airline miles or hotel points.
- If I want to stay in a 5 star Park Hyatt in the Maldives, Melbourne, NYC, Paris, Sydney, or Tokyo that would cost over $1,000/night, I can instantly transfer 25-30K points to Hyatt to do that, a value of up to 6 cents per point.
- If I need a one-way flight from Cleveland (or Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Montreal, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Toronto, etc) to NYC that can cost $500 each way, I can instantly transfer 7.5K points to British Airways to book a short-haul on American with no last minute booking fees. Or if American doesn’t have availability I can instantly transfer 10K points to United for their short-haul award. That’s a value of up to 7 cents per point.
- If I want to stay in a non-chain hotel that costs $300/night and don’t want to pay cash, I can redeem 20K points for the room thanks to my Sapphire Reserve card’s minimum redemption value of 1.5 cents per point or 24K points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ’s minimum redemption value of 1.25 cents per point
- If I want to fly in a $25,000 ANA First Class Suite round-trip from the US to Tokyo, I can instantly transfer 110K or 120K points to Virgin Atlantic. That’s a value of up to 23 cents per point.
- If I want to book a $2,281 business class ticket on Air Canada to Tel Aviv I can redeem 152K points for the flight thanks to my Sapphire Reserve card’s minimum redemption value of 1.5 cents per point or 182K points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ’s minimum redemption value of 1.25 cents per point, plus I’ll earn Qantas miles for more future travel as it’s considered a paid flight instead of an award flight.
- And thousands of other possibilities from Singapore couples suites to booking Southwest awards with 2 free bags and free cancellations, to stealing 2nd base in middle of an MLB game.

TBD
realistically, will this still be around in the beginning of 2021 or prob not?
November 8th is rumored end date.
Wow,
Do you know till when this limited time offer will go?
And is it also valid if being referred?
TBD.
No.
Shoot! just got the 60k! missed out on the additional 20k
“If you signed up for the previous offer within the past 90 days you can try sending a secure message asking to be matched to this offer.”
Same here, signed up for 60K 28 days ago… 🙁
“Benzion, although your account isn’t eligible for the new offer you requested, the original offer is still available and will remain on your account.”
Wow, was that via secure message?
Can you ask if it’s a new policy that they stopped matching offers?
i’ve never had success in chase matching offers, so its ymmv.
I had 100% success whenever i requested.
lucky you. i am 0-3
I responded, waiting to hear back. Will report back…
They just parroted back the exact same response again; didn’t even reply to my question… Are they any good on Twitter?
Offer matching appears to be dead.
BDE… Do I at least get a HT? 😀
Bearers of bad news get a negative hat tip 😉
CV killed UPS. I knew it! Never trust the postal service…
Convert the preferred into preferred?
Huh?
Never mind, by the card convertibility, it looks like at first glance that it’s a list of cards that you can convert into afterwards
There’s been a ton of chase news so I haven’t been able to keep up. Is PC to original freedom not available anymore?
It is still available.
Not the highest ever — wasn’t it 100k when first released?
No, that was for the $450 (now $550) Sapphire Reserve.
This is the $95 Sapphire Preferred and it has never offered anything this high.
Is there any way for a Canadian citizen to signup for this?
Become an American?
Or get a SSN. There’s ways
I have 3 freedoms card and I have no idea which was the sapphire before. Any way to check that ?
Call and ask?
Look back at old statements?
I just got this card in the mail yesterday with 60K bonus. What number do I call do try to get them to give me this bonus?
“If you signed up for the previous offer within the past 90 days you can try sending a secure message asking to be matched to this offer.”
when i try to reffer somone it only shows 60k can someone call in and get the 20k bonus?
Referral offer is only 60K.
Use the 80K link in this post and help support this site?
denied
Call reconsideration.
Any tips on reconsideration mine was denied as well
I for sure got the reserve when it came out. That means im for sure no qualified, right?
That was 49 months ago, so it depends when you got the bonus.
CAn you elaborate – I got mine 1/1/2017 – it depends on when you got the bonus or when you applied?
When you got the bonus.
Dan- is it worth changing the reserve to unlimited to be able to apply? Worth the risk of not being allowed a product change (Back to reserve) for a year?
Sure.
If you can change, you can also change back.
Thank you- I was just charged my annual fee on reserve, my 48 months are up in nov- would you recommend downgrading now n waiting to apply in Nov n hope offer still stands or wait on the downgrade? What happens to annual fee if you downgrade later? Is it prorated? TIA
Depends on whether you need it until then.
Annual fee is prorated if you downgrade.
Ty
I have the chase reserve card now. If I downgrade in order to get this offer can I later upgrade back to the Chase reserve?
Yes.
I just got my renewal annual fee for the sapphire reserve the cost was $450. however if I downgrade in order to get this bonus and then I upgrade will I be charged $550 for the annual fee?
Isn’t the additional $100 AF charge worth 80,000 UR pts?
@Dan i just called to request they match the offer because I signed up literally a week ago and she told me some nonsense that they changed their policy in the last week. The only option they said is being that I haven’t spent yet on the account I can reject my previous account and reapply.
Ouch. Anyone else get that?
Try requesting via a secure message?
After asking the rep to send me a link where this “new” policy was recorded and she couldn’t (shockingly) come up with anything, I asked to speak to a supervisor and the supervisor told me some other bunk about it being account specific
And she didn’t know what the previous rep was talking about, regardless they didn’t want to do it so I sent a secure message. Fingers crossed.
Any idea when 100k Reserve offer is coming? 🙂
I don’t think that’s going to happen again as a public offer.
Given some high recent bonus from chase, I was actually thinking of waiting for a 100k sr offer? What makes you think it won’t happen?
The Sapphire Preferred has trended up from 40K to 50K to 60K to 80K and has had a stable $95 annual fee.
The Sapphire Reserve has been stuck at 50K for the past 3.5 years and has increased its annual fee from $450 to $550.
Clearly, Chase is pushing the Sapphire Preferred product over the Sapphire Reserve. I don’t see the Sapphire Reserve public offer going to 100K again.
Why? Do they make more from the CSP than the CSR? I would think the opposite.
IMO ppl not utilizing the benefits on CSR [read: a majority of cardholders] opening a card solely for signup bonus, will be more likely to keep a $95 AF card for more than 1 year versus a $550 card.
And those utilizing the benefits and will pay the $55o year after year, will open the card for the benefits even with a smaller sign up bonus.
Can i get approved even if i don’t qualify for the bonus?
Hey Dan,
About 2 weeks ago, I downgraded my Chase Sapphire Reserve card to a Chase freedom in an effort to collect sign up bonus again. This process has been a real pain for me and originally the thought was 24 month window from the last time receiving sign up bonus points and now I learned that it is actually a 48 month window.
I applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and was denied for already having an active Sapphire product. This was before I received the freedom card and activated. So, I received the card and activated it. Then, I submitted another application for Sapphire Reserve and was again denied because I already collected the sign up bonus points in the last 48 months. This was news to me because I thought the window was 24 months, I began to worry I would be without Sapphire Reserve for the next 7/8 months until my 48 month window is up. A rep was able to help me a submit a request to undo the downgrade to get my Chase Sapphire Reserve card back. Hoping I can get the card back … wish the first representative who i spoke with when downgrading knew about the 48 month window because when I explained my intention to get sign up bonus points again, she reassured me it would all work out.
Now, I just want to confirm that in April 2021 when my 48 month window is up, I will be able to do this whole process again but this time will be approved for the Sapphire Reserve.
Dan, any insight you can provide would be extremely grateful.
Thank you!
You will be good to go as long as it’s been 48 months since the last bonus and you don’t have an active Sapphire family card.
Thank you for reading and replying.
Please keep up the amazing help! Very much appreciate your insight and knowledge!
No free bags on UA when using UR points to book UA though unless you transfer them to UA first and book through them. But with such cheap fares these days that rarely makes sense anymore, it makes more sense to book at 1.25/ 1.5

Or just cash out the points using pay yourself back at greater than 1.25/1.5 each and pay for the cheap flights.
My daughter is 20 years old and this would be her 1st credit card in addition to bank account and a store card. Is it worth a chance trying to apply or she’ll get denied?
It’s worth a shot, not a big deal if she’s denied, but try calling reconsideration if she is.
However it may be easier to get approved for a Freedom family card.
Are 2 BMs still working?
Also how hard is it to get the ink preferred. Would get both… 🙂
Yes, but it’s tough to get Ink cards these days.
Any suggestions which 2 for best chance Of successful 2bm? I have no chase cards currently
Maybe Freedom Flex or Freedom Unlimited with Sapphire Preferred?
Thank you. Assuming that an airline co-branded isn’t easier to get approved for?
Does 2bm only help for credit pull or also for 5/24?
Only the credit pull.
just called chase..not helpful at all. Rep states that since I dont have a sapphire card now there is “no way” for her to tell when I got the bonus. I also asked if there was a way for me to check and she said “no”
You can however go to your account and look at the statements for the cards(assuming you downgraded its very easy to tell since the number of the card stays the same) and pull up your statements from around 4+- years ago and you will see in the statement when the signup bonus was paid out.
I guess statements are the way to go.
Gosh, i applied and got approved 2 weeks ago, any way to get the additional 20k bonus?
“If you signed up for the previous offer within the past 90 days you can try sending a secure message asking to be matched to this offer.”
YMMV, let us know what they say.
SM says that i can only take advantage of offer that was active when i got approved, so did the customer service rep say when i called in …. disappointing
Was anyone successful?
What’s the point in waiting after product change ?
It takes a day or 2 for the system to update. Otherwise you’ll get rejected for having an active Sapphire card.
Can I take this out as a business card and not be subjected to the 24 months rule if my business never took a card out ?
No, this is a consumer card only.
Can I upgrade a freedom unlimited to a sapphire preferred to get this signup bonus?
No, you only get a signup bonus when you apply for a new card.
Do i get the 80k bonus if sign up with someone’s link?
If you use the DansDeals link in the post, sure. And it’s appreciated 🙂
Referral links are still offering 60K.
Tried calling CS about previous Sapphire bonuses, but they didn’t have it on record. Guess because the previous Sapphire card was closed. Which dept should I try?
Can you still access your old statements online or in paper form?
Not online because card is closed.
Paper from ~4 years ago?! 😉
CS said that I should just apply and the system will tell me if I’m eligible for the bonus. Is that true?
Recon was no help either.
what is the minimum income range for this card?
how do i get them to reconsider due to the 5/24 rule if 2 of the cards are store cards?
And are business cards included in this 5/24 thing thank you
Call reconsideration to point out they are store cards.
No.
i was denied can i send a secure message for reconsideration? or do i have to call
what s the number
You can try via SM.
Hi Dan can I cancel my current card and then wait a few days or is it better to change it to a freedom and then wait a few days
You can do either, but I’d say convert to Freedom.
“You can call Chase to find out when you last earned a bonus on those cards or you can pull up your old statements online to check when you last got a bonus.”
So I should apply 48 months from the statement date for when the bonus posted?
I just was on the phone with chase fighting for the 5/24 rule they claim since I have a chase ink card that counts as 5 cards. I thought its only personal cards
I also recently received the CSP at 60K and SM to request match to 80. Reply was
“I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your
inquiry about the richer premium request on the account.
G, we appreciate you taking the time to write into
us. I would like to inform you that although your account
isn’t eligible for the new offer you requested, the
original offer is still available and will remain on your
account.”
Ouch. Seems like a new policy.
Applied end of August, and was also denied a match via SM. I guess I’ll wait a few days and try to call.
Any idea as to how long you expect this offer to be around for? Waiting for my refi to close first.
worth the extra 30K UR points to sign up for this or Reserve? Am thinking that any potential savings of 1.5 over 1.25 redemptions is outweighed by $550 annual fee and 30K less points.
Get this and upgrade to Reserve?
how soon need to wait before upgrading?
can i take advantage of the trip insurance/benefits when doing award tickets?
Dan my relative who lives in the same address was approved! can she transfer her points me? can I make use of all the benefits like 1.25 value
can I benefit from this card if my relative got approved and lives in the same address: ie can she transfer the points to me or better can i transfer points to her? what if she adds me as authorized user?
Spouses can transfer. I think they ask during the transfer setup.
Try in your on line account and see if the process works for you.
relative is not a spouse but same address what do you say?
approved, thank you dan!!
Congrats!
on the phone with them for an hour for reconsideration. representative did not see why i would not be accepted however they said it needs a final review! will be getting my card or a letter in the mail …
this has never happened to me before any idea of what this means?
Normal, good luck!
@Dan what do you suggest. I recently upgraded to sapphire preferred from sapphire and I have another sapphire as well. (just realized i can apply for new bonus)
should I downgrade both to freedom/unlimited and then apply?
You can, but wait a couple days after doing that before you apply.
I am an AU for the Sapphire Preferred. Would I have to downgrade (or change) my card to be eligible for this as well?
Nope, you are eligible even if you are an AU.
Thanks!
Hi Dan what are the best business cards to apply for today’s days, if any . .
Tough to get approvals these days on those, but hopefully they loosen up soon.
Is the 48 months from approval or from when the bonus posted?
Bonus posted.
Approved on 9/8/19. Pretty sure met spend within a few days. Did bonus normally post when spend met or statement close? Any downside to just apply now?
Statement close. May as well wait until then I’d think.
Downside is…. You need 48 months to be eligible for bonus, not 12
Oops, meant 9/8/16 not 9/8/19.
If I have the Chase Sapphire (not preferred), can I still get accepted for this car
You would have to change it to a Freedom family product and then wait a few days before applying.
Can I upgrade from a freedom and get the bonus?
No, you need to apply for a new card to get a bonus.
Can you transfer the miles from one card to the other on the same account?
Yes
Mendy
I just got my renewal annual fee for the sapphire reserve the cost was $450. however if I downgrade in order to get this bonus and then I upgrade will I be charged $550 for the annual fee?
Will it alert me before approval if I’m ineligible for bonus. Had reserve bonus post in 2016 November
“earn 80,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for opening this card and spending $4,000 in 3 months”
does anyone know if its still extended to 6 months? (i think some cc company’s are extending it due to covid-19)
Those offers have all ended.
any speculation on how long this offer will last?
Great tip about switching a current Sapphire to flex and applying for the offer after a few days. Thanks.
Remind me of the good old days when the reserve just came out and I got the 100k bonus plus 80k points from a brand new chase ink preferred.
A nice $2700 trip that was, which I paid nothing for!
“A nice $2700 trip that was, which I paid nothing for!”
A $450 Annual fee?
Please… dont start with that ..
When the reserve just came out you were given travel credit twice a year due to a loophole. that is $600 alone , also, what about the TSA pre/global entry and all the free entries I used for major lounges around the world and didn’t pay a dime for?
I doubt it I ended paying anything after all,
anything else you have to say cause I know.
also had the answer will get answer by mail…
If I have the JPMorgan version of the sapphire reserve. Since 2016. Can i get this offer?
Yes. That’s a different product.
Ty
For the 48 month test, do they also consider if one received the 80k bonus on an Ink Business Preferred card? Or are they just checking for bonuses on personal Sapphire cards? Thanks.
Sapphire only.
Thanks. Sorry I meant the Ink Business Sapphire Preferred. Or was that business card with the 80k bonus never considered a Sapphire card?
There are no Sapphire business cards.
Thank you! What do you think of this offer vs the 100k offer on the business card which just checks 24 months prior bonuses. I guess the additional required spend (15k vs 4k) is what makes the business offer less attractive?
Upgarded to redeem points. How soon is it safe to downgrade?
If I opened the sapphire preffered card a few years ago and closed it am I still eligible?
The only thing that matters is when you got the bonus on it.
Signed up in the last 90 days, sent them a secure message, but they will not match the current offer. Anything else I can do to get them to match the offer?
Seems like that’s been killed.
Dan, What do you mean by this – “A great feature of the program is that you keep the original points that the purchase earned, even though you paid yourself back for the purchase. That means your points will be worth more than 1.25 or 1.5 cents each!”?
When you pay yourself back, the points are deducted from your total points. They are gone/used, not kept(by my definition of kept).
You keep the points from the original purchase, despite it being refunded.
What do you mean by keep? If I make a purchase that earns 100 points so my balance is now 100 and then I use 100 points to Pay Myself Back then they are deducted and my point balance is zero.
Dan i got declined I dont know why, what is the number to call for reconsideration?
If I currently have a CSR, do you think it is worth downgrading the CSR to a Freedom Unlimited, then getting the CSP with bonus. Then once bonus is received, move back up to CSR before the price goes up to $550
If I’ve never had a preferred, but signed up for the reserve 8 months ago, if I downgrade reserve am I eligible to apply for the preferred?
No
Question: Does an authorized user get all of the very same card benefits as the primary account holder? Primarily: Primary rental car CDW insurance in every country.
Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Insurance
Lost Luggage Insurance
Trip Delay Reimbursement
Baggage Delay Reimbursement
Travel Accident Insurance
Purchase protection for items damaged or stolen within 120 days
Yes.
Can i get the bonus if I’m just an additional Sapphire holder ?
Yes.
Can you please explain? Does that mean that if I get the card and put my wife as an authorized user we each get 80K? (assuming each of us hits the threshold)
My wife Jsut got her first Cc like 2 months ago (Chase Freedom) do you think she’ll get approved for this, even though she just started building her credit?
Certainly possible.
Hey Dan,
I’ve got the business Ink Plus for years and Freedom Unlimited. I just got the Preferred from your link, thank you! Do I need to do anything to get the 5x points on groceries? Which card would do it?
Thanks!

So if i’ve had the Freedom and Ink for years, just got the preferred, i’m not eligible for this, correct?
You are eligible for the brand new Freedom Flex:

I got declined I dont know why, what is the number to call for reconsideration?
Dan, did chase started payment options on fixed rate like amex plan it?
My Chase PlanSM Fee
(fixed finance charge)
1.72% of the amount of each purchase transaction selected to create a My Chase Plan. The My Chase Plan Fee will be determined at the time each My Chase Plan is created and will remain the same until the My Chase Plan is paid in full.
I applied for a sapphire card a few months and did not get approved can I apply now and get the bonus??
Yes.
I was approved for CSR in early 9/2016 and probably got the signup bonus 100k in 10/16 or 11/16. So the 48 months has to be from the date of bonus, not the day I was approved? What if I sign up for the 80k offer now (48 months from my last bonus? Will that work? I doubt this offer will last until November.
Why would chase count an authorized user if the primary card holder is responsible for the card? Whats the reasoning behind it?
isn’t a 48 month wait period exceedingly long for such a thing, the 5/24 wait is tough as it is and this wait is double….
Have around 730 credit score 2 ehh cards at arnd 1500 each monthly discover 5% and capital one quicksilver ….would I qualify I don’t sign up often to cards. And for a general all around card is this my best offer with less than 100 fee????
Here’s to hoping this is still around on January 23rd. 4 years and 1 day
Dan, I got denied and part of the reason the rep gave me was that I don’t have any other products like checking or investments with them. Ever heard of that one?
Interesting.
Time to open a Chase checking account!
Want to apply and have a credit score in mid-high 700s, but no chase checking account.
1. What is the likelihood of approval?
2. Is there a no fee chase checking account?
3. How long before applying to the card would I need to open the checking account?
@@@dan

“You won’t get the signup bonus on this card if you have received a signup bonus on Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, or Sapphire card within the past 48 months.”
Dan, is this from when I received the card, hit the bonus, or downgraded the card?
Hit bonus.
Hey Dan,
If I downgrade to the sapphire preferred from sapphire reserve will I get the 80k bonus??
No, you need to apply for a new card to get a bonus.
If I got approved does that mean I will get the bonus points ? I don’t see the bonus progress on my app ?
Yes.
Thank you
I down graded my sapphire preferred to the sapphire. Can I change it to the cards listed?
Yes
What’s the point of this card besides the signup bonus? The benefits aren’t really there. At least not to justify the annual fee. Is it just a way to redeem Freedom points into UR?
It’s the least expensive easy to make your points transferable and more valuable.
So is the 48 month clock:
1) 48 months between date of last Sapphire bonus and date of new application?
2) 48 months between date of last Sapphire bonus and date of achieving new bonus?
3) 48 months between closing date of last Sapphire bonus month and date of new application?
4) 48 months between closing date of last Sapphire bonus and date of achieving new bonus?
Answered above- hit bonus
He’s asking if it’s 48 mo between last bonus date and current application or later bonus and new bonus. For ex, last bonus on 10/1/16, can we apply today 9/17/20, and spend $4k on 10/5/20, which is over 48 mo from last bonus. Or if current application has to be after 10/1/20.
Applied, called recon the next morning and answered a couple questions. Moved some credit from other open cards and approved. Thanks Dan!
Approved. Thank you Dan!
Does this card have any return protection?
Thanks dan!!
If you have reserve can you play
Hi Dan, I have a chase sapphire preferred card, with 25k line opened in 2014 I was thinking to downgrade it to the freedom card and reapply to the sapphire preferred again to get the Bonus am i able to do that and if yes is it wise?
You can.
can you get cash back for the points?
I never fly anywhere.
Yes.
how am I supposed to confirm if its been 48 months since my last Saphire card? I tried sending a secure message but they said they cant see that information.
Check your statements?
Can I downgrade a Sapphire Preferred to a Freedom Unlimited in the first year and would the $95 fee be prorated?
The statement in which I got bonus was open-close : 09/21/16 – 11/03/16
I actually applied 9/22 and got denied for 48 months. Is the proper target date 11/04, ie statement close in which I got the bonus?
Yes.
This is the cc offer I applied for in a really long time and I just got declined for first time ever… so weird… I just downgraded my Saphire Reserve to Freedom Unlimited last week is that the problem?
Call reconsideration?
Dan
I don’t have any cc’s of my own yet but I have an excellent 700’s credit score from being an au. I got declined from a few credit cards (even macy’s) because “I don’t have enough credit cycling” duh I don’t have any card… any recommendations of what card to apply for or how to fix this.
I think by now I also have to many inquiries so many I should wait a while? Canyou help me out
My first two credit cards were Bank of America Travel Rewards and Cash Rewards. I was approved for the Travel Rewards soon after opening my bank account with no previous history with them.
Might be a good place to start–plus the card isn’t too bad either for a starter card. 1.5% cashback on everything plus a signup bonus ($150 if I recall correctly).
Thank you so much
Discover might approve you easier especially if you apply as student,
Good luck!
If I understand correctly, I got my CSR bonus in Oct. 2016, should I first apply to the Ink Business Preferred (was denied in April), and then after downgrading the CSR to ??? (you tell me) I can apply for the CSP? Any time period to wait between?
Thanks
Does it raise a red flag if i downgrade the saffire reserve & then apply for the preferred ?
Was thinking back and forth since you first posted this but couldn’t resist the sign up bonus! Never had any accounts with Chase but got approved straight away.
Thank you Dan!
I have a preferred as an additional will I be approved?
Yes
Dan what is the likelihood Chase would approve this as my daughters first credit card. She is turning 18 and I can add her to payroll to help give her a kickstart in building a credit score and credit history. 2 years ago I added her as a AU on a couple cards so she already has a credit score
I was just told by a chase representative that I am eligible for the signup bonus even though I have a regular sapphire card because I have had it for over five years. Is that accurate?
No, you need to change it to a Freedom product.
Ok done. How long would you recommend waiting before applying for the sapphire preferred?
Try in 4 days?
Are there promotional point earning categories for the first year?..
They are giving me 4 months for the spending threshold.
Dan, do you have a write up on the different Freedom cards?

@Dan
I tried to downgrade my Preffered but they only allowed me to downgrade to regular Saphire- not a freedom or freedom unlimited
I do already have those cards..
Any advice?
HUCA
Thanks
I did and got it changed to a chase freedom unlimited
Now just gotta wait a few days
Good luck!
Are there any benefits for the old sapphire classic they gave an option of either this, or a freedom, but I couldn’t find any info abbout the sapphire classic
got declined. what can i do.
Call and negotiate?
@dan -I just cancelled my reserve card because I already had a freedom card and wanted this deal- they told me to wait 1 month before applying for preferred card( I am 48 months out) how long realistically do I have to wait? I don’t want to miss out on 80k points?
Got approved for the card and when I tried to activate it the website said this account has been closed. (Never actually used the card) Did this ever happen before to anyone? Any ideas what could have caused it?
Happens all the time. Have they ever closed any of your cards before?
No. First chase card.
Hi Dan, I’ve never been a chase customer before i applied for the card and at the same time applied for the freedom flex to get both with one credit pull, i got approved for the freedom but not for the sapphire, called in was told reason is never requested credit or had a chase account and to call back during business hours if i want them to reconsider, called back they told me that i was actually approved just because i applied for two cards i ended up not being approved so i asked for reconsider explained that i wanted both not for spending just to maximize the perks of each card they came back saying reconsidered not approved reason: not enough credit history, And not possible to move some credit from the freedom to sapphire because minimum for sapphire is $5,000. ANY THING STILL POSSIBLE TO DO? Thank you!
Called again, this Rep. was more helpful said was probably result of other application since reason it says is to short average amount of time after opening newest card, they said can’t reconsider today since i tried few hours ago. Any advice??
Any idea when this offer ends?
One rumor says 11/8, but nothing official yet.
Thanks, should be safe (48 months) to apply end of Oct.
Worked for me 🙂
https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/results-applications-sapphire-preferred-freedom-flex-cards-roundup-15-active-chase-cards/
How dose the Amex pay for past purchase compare to chases?
Poorly.
Is D. Barret, Mr. Amy Commey…?
If I had a sapphire preferred and downgraded it to a sapphire can I apply now for the preferred?
Change the Sapphire to Freedom Flex/Freedom Unlimited.
@dan what are the odds for someone who has been an authorized user for many years with great credit but never opened a credit card in his name to get approved for sapphire preferred?
If you don’t try you won’t know 🙂
I got the reserve card in dec 18. I don’t want to pay 550 or 450. What’s the best chase card to replace it with?
Freedom Flex/Freedom Unlimited?
Dan, I just opened this card thru a referral link, and then noticed that I’m only getting the 60k offer while the public 80k promotion is widely available! I tried requesting by sm for them to match me the public offer but they declined. Is there any hope somehow?
Nope, pay better attention next time.
Chase matching is kaput.
Well since the one who referred me just so happens to be my wife… I did at least effectively end up with 75k… But does Chase have any rules against referral within an household?
I wouldn’t recommend referring cards within a household.
Why not? I’ve done it many times. Is it against any rule?
Really ? Is that frowned upon ?
I’ve had the plain Sapphire card for 10+ years. If I close it, then wait and apply for a Sapphire preferred, how will my credit score be effected? I’ve already been offered the Freedom card
Change it to Freedom Flex/Freedom Unlimited and there will be no harm. Wait a few days before applying for a new Sapphire.
Will it raise a red flag downgrade the reserve
No.
I opened the sapphire reserve August 30 2016, I finished spending $4,000 to get the bonus on November 4, the closing date was November 14, when will I be able to apply for this card and get the bonus Nov 4 or Nov 14?
HI DAN i applied more then 3 weeks ago and didn’t get any answer yet, what could i do?
Call Chase.
i am a additional cardholder on someone else’s chase Sapphire Preferred. can i signup for myself and get the bonus?
Yes.
I applied and was denied- they told me I received the bonus within 48 months. When I called customer service they said that they can’t see when I had a prior sapphire with them (which I haven’t-maybe as an AU) but they can’t approve the application because the system is telling them otherwise. Something doesn’t add up? Any advice?
You didn’t get a Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve bonus in the past 48 months?
AU does not count.
I never had a sapphire.
They also say they didn’t do a credit pull because the application didn’t go through because of previous bonus. Is that accurate, and should I just reapply?
If they said so, then it’s accurate. (At least IME with Amex it’s always like that and no reason for them to lie and be any different)
I opened the sapphire reserve August 30 2016, I finished spending the $4,000 to get the bonus on November 4, the closing date was November 14, when will I be able to apply for this card and get the bonus Nov 4 or Nov 14?
If people are on my cc as an additional card holder, will they’re spending go towards my 4K?
Yes.
Does chase count 48 months from when I finished spending to get the bonus or 48 months from the statement date?
@dan I got denied on the spot for the card and, upon calling, was told it was due to insufficient credit history (apparently authorized usership for 6 years not enough, even though score is 740 without a single late payment) and the fact that I don’t have a chase bank account. In the interim, I opened a chase checking and put some money in it, along with applying for the Amex skymiles Gold card. Do I have anything to lose by trying again in two weeks and see if I get at leats a “pending”?
If my wife has been an authorized user on my Sapphire Preferred, would she be able to get the bonus or do we have to downgrade the cards to one of the Freedom cards then apply for Sapphire Preferred?
As long as she didn’t get the bonus it’s fine.
I’d rather if the picture read Amy C. Barrett. Just saying.
If i was an additional and i now have good credit but i still dont have a card will chase approve me?
My wife is an additional to my account, can she apply for a new card and recieve a bonus?
If not would closing her card help if I recieved the bonus less then 24 Months ago?
She can.
Can you get this card with 1 year of credit histary and low income
I just tried submitting applications on 2 diff tabs for the sapphire and freedom unlimited but one app says thanks for your submission, while the other says unfortunately we are unable to approve your application, anyone have an explanation for that?
Call Chase?
hi dan if i just got the freedom unlimited do you think I will get approved for this card?
and will they give the bonus for this card?
Yes.
Yes.
Does chase count 48 months from when you finish spending the $4,000 to get the bonus or 48 months from the statement date after you finish spending?
I would like to apply but meeting that huge $4K spend req is impossible. Don’t want to stock up on bunch of visa or master gift cards and no way to drain them fast. Is plastic still working to pay mortgage or association fee with visa credit card?
is nov 8 the end for applying or being approved?
Applying.
can i apply for CSP and a business cc with 1 credit pull? if not, what about 2 personal cards?
Dan always says to apply at once from two different browsers [I understood him speaking about personal],
But do this ONLY if your a chase customer already, I tried ding this 10 days ago applied for CSP and CFF at once 2 different browsers and was denied for the CSP reason: just opened new account with chase, Rep explained that i was actually approved for CSP but before system finalized i was denied due to above reason, Tried to reconsider few times with no result.
was hoping they would refresh the CSR SUB b4 withdrawing this offer, to help in deciding which to get. only have 1 slot left.
I wouldn’t expect any CSR bonus increase. You can upgrade CSP to CSR down the line.
if I upgrade my current Freedom to Reserve (pay $550) and then downgrade when 2nd annual fee hits, would i be able to take advantage of travel credit twice?
Chase shut me (and most of my family) down a couple years ago
without any reason given and none of us have any clue why (yah, I know everyone says that but here there was really nothing that gives any hint of an issue…..)
and now every single time any of us try applying for a chase card they deny it only because “Chase has closed your accounts in the past”.
Anyone know if this is for life? 10 years? When do I have a chance of getting approved again
By myself I was able to get in again after about less than 3 years.
Thank you.
Just applied regular?
has anyone managed to get their 60k offer matched to 80 ?
Hey Dan i’ve been on my husband’s johnny account for years.
His credit is 790.
I just applied and got accepted for the freedom flex.
Do you think I have chance to get this with 695 credit?
Dan, can you clarify the exact date they go back to determine the 48 months?
1) is it the date you completed the minimum spend?
2) is it the closing date of the statement you earned the bonus?
3) is it the date you were approved for the card?
I opened my SR on 10/28/16, i met the minimum spend on 11/03/16 & my statement closed on 11/13/16. If they count one of the 2 former than I’m good, if the count the 3rd then im doooomed.
It would be a shame to miss out on this bonus. Please advise.
What does chase consider 48 months from getting the bonus? 48 months from the statement date or when i finished spending the amount to get the bonus?
Same question here. Statement closed on November 10, 2016.
As Dan stated up thread, 48 months from when the bonus posts.
I have a freedom and unlimited and CSR. Am I better off cancelling the CSR or downgrading, before applying for sapphire? Can I have a flex and unlimited at same time?
Personally I’d downgrade.
You can have as many as you want.
I got my last sapphire bonus on March/’17.
Any chance I could get this?
what do I do my last bonus was Nov 22, 2016? How I still apply for this?
?
Chase closed all my accounts 2 years ago. Can I sign up for cards ever again????
Worth a shot. If it works do spend on day one. I did this on a different card and even when the card was closed a couple days later I still received the bonus and was able to use it.
So that would mean last time I got the bonus was on my Nov 16 2016 statement . So no go for me ?
Can you get aproved at 19
Dan,
I have a CSR – opened in 2016. I’d like to get this 80k bonus on the CSP. Does it make sense to close the CSR so that I can apply for the bonus for CSP, get the bonus and then apply for a new CSR? How’d you suggest I take advantage of this opportunity? Thanks!
You can downgrade the CSR, as described in this post.
can you upgrade to a sapphire reserve after a couple of months or do you have to wait for the year to be over to upgrade
YMMV.
Would you apply for the CSR immediately after receiving the bonus for the CSP or would you wait for a better sign up bonus to become available?
You can only get a Sapphire bonus once in 48 months.
Too bad I waited till end of 2016 to get the reserve. only eligible for a Sapphire bonus in march! 🙁
Thanks for the update Dan!
That put an end to my procrastination. Applied for CSP and CFU.
Approved for the SP!!
Gonna call recon for the FU
Congrats!
Called recon. Too many applications was the reason for denial.
They said they can resubmit the application. Needs another hard pull though.
Doesn’t sound right.
Huca?
Would a current AUTHORIZED USER of Sapphire Preferred be approved for this card?
Yes.
Dan please help last bonus Nov 22, 2016 what do I do?
My 48 months ends November 19th, per the Chase rep.
Bummer
How should I proceed?
My application was denied. Called reconsideration. Rep confirmed I have exceptional credit.
Only option is to move around credit. However, I only have 1 personal CC with chase (freedom), 9k credit line. Can’t shift 5k, or my freedom would lose its benefits.
Odd, on my question why I wasn’t approved for more credit, considering my perfect credit profile & good income. Rep said that available credit on my chase business cards (90k) were factored into the creditworthiness assessment.
Dan, is that the norm? Any recommendation?
Which benefits would you lose on Freedom?
Hmm… didn’t elaborate
I understood the UR benefits (Maybe I just assumed that?)
His statement (paraphrasing): “The freedom must have avail. 5k min. credit, in order to get the card benefits.”
Nope. Those will stay no matter how low the line goes.
HUCA.
Dan, I HUCA’d, was explained that my Freedom Unlimited cannot have a credit limit of less than 5k.
Rep suggested:
1) Requesting a 1k limit increase for the freedom, then move it over
2) converting the freedom to another version (wasn’t sure if there’s a min limit)
Any suggestions? Or is it game over?
Mine has $500. HUCA until you get the answer you want.
Will do!
Maybe the min limit issue is signature vs. platinum? My freedom is visa signature.
Just an update, Dan.
I got approved!
Was only able to reduce Freedom credit limit after converting from Visa signature to visa non-signature.
It seems that the “signature” benefits require a minimum credit limit of 5k.
Tnx for all you do!!!
Joel
For the preferred card is it $0 annual fee for the first year and $95 every year afterwards
No, they ended that a while back. It now has a $95 annual fee from the start.
if i am currently an authorized user on an account, can i open my own and get the 80k bonus points?
Yes.
If I apply and add my wife as an authorized user can she then apply to get the 80k and add me as an authorized user?
Yes.
If I apply for 3 different chase cards on 3 different browsers, on the same day – will it affect my credit? (I’m already pre-approved for one according to my chase app)
Hey,
Applied and got denied I called the reconsideration line and was told I was two weeks short of the 48 month period.
the representative told me that it was only a soft pull I then asked if I could reapply in two weeks and she said yes.
my question is would you reapply or just Call back reconsideration number and have them approve it with the previous application?
Did you get credit pull?
Soft pull
My last bonus was on November 7th, 2016. I will apply on November 8th. If I am not instantly approved, is the reconsideration line open on Sunday? Is the deadline of November 8th based on the approval date?
Should work.
No, application date.
If i got the bonus ON nov 8th, will i get approved if I apply on that day?
Chase won’t approve you for the card if you won’t get the bonus and they won’t do a hard pull, so you have nothing to lose by trying.
I have a Sapphire Reserve. I live in Israel and I am travelling much less. My $550 fee is coming up in January. Can I switch to the Preffered and get the bonus? My wife has the preffered, does that mean anything? Thank you Dan
You can downgrade it to Freedom and then apply for a Sapphire Preferred.
If chase closed all my accounts….can I ever sign up for a chase card again?
Hi dan thanks for your time and help I currently have a sapphire with a lot of points should I transfer to my wife cardbefore I downgrade or downgrade to a freedom with the points and then transfer back to the new card if I transfer to my wife can I transfer back to myself
No difference.
How can I be eligible for the 80k bonus if I got the sapphire reserve bonus in January of 2017?
You won’t be.
I applied for the preferred forgetting that I had a regular sapphire and got declined instantly. I now downgraded to a freedom. With waiting a few days will I have a problem applying again? Also, was that first application a pull on my credit?
Not a problem. No pull.
I have 6 Amex cards, all within the last 24 months. Is there any possibility, that I could get approved for this card or any other Chase card?
Which 6 cards? Any business?
“However you can change those cards to a Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Flex card, wait a few days, and then apply for a Sapphire Preferred card.”
How many days? close timing now..
3 or 4 days.
Thanks!
Applied through this link. Applied for a Freedom Unlimited at the same time. Approved for the Freedom. Declined for the Sapphire due to length of time since oldest cc was opened to short and total available credit on ccs is too low. Reconsideration didn’t help. Now that I was approved for the Freedom should I apply again or is it not worth the hard pull? How long should I wait to apply again?
Dan, does a business preferred ink card work like a sapphire preferred? In other words, would the move be to get an ink cash card to match up with it?
Do you need to get the card by November 8th or spend the 4K by November 8th?
You need to apply by the 8th.
Can I apply by the 8th and then call recon and have them reconsider after I am eligible on Nov 22?
What date is used to determine sub received? Is it the statement end date on the month the sub was received?
Yes, that appears to be the case.
Can you apply on the 8th and still get the bonus? Got the bonus 48 months ago on November 7.
It should work, though we should the exact deadline soon.
November 7th may also work for you.
Once accepted for application, do you have to wait to receive the card to use it? Or they can give you card info?
You can add it to a mobile wallet app and use it right away.
@Dan How many days after downgrading my sapphire and sapphire preferred to freedom unlimited, should I apply?
I applied and submitted but the verifying information page has been circling for the last 8 mins and it is not going anywhere . No decisions or anything. Strange
My application by submitted 10 mins ago is still stuck on verifying information page and it is not giving me any decision or status. Phone app status doesn’t have application and no email either . Very strange . I will reapply tomorrow
I got bonus on 11/10/16 – if I apply before 11/8/20 but don’t reach spend threshold until 1/21 – will I still be able to get bonus since it’s more than 48 months between the times I actually got the bonus?
same question anybody???
same – any response?
Hi Dan, I have a Sapphire Reserve. My $550 fee is coming up in January. I am planning to downgrade to CSP, should I use the $300 travel credit before the downgrade to CSP?
Thank you Dan!
I am a US citizen with legit US address and tel # (in the US, both tel # and address), living in Israel. Applied and got approved. Yet I am now stuck in endless loop of trying to prove my identity (in order to unlock cards/set up online access), and they insist on sending a text. When I told them I don’t have a smartphone, it’s kind of like, to bad on you. When I tried utilizing my in-laws smartphones, no-go, they have voice recognition, and they want to speak to ME, but I am not with the smartphone in NY! I tried HUCA quite a few times, no go. I know, I know, I learned my lesson for the future, any tips for now? (Aside for buying smartphone in Israel with US #)? Thank you!
Just get a google voice number for free
Im in the same boat. they were willing to have me answer a bunch of security questions, maybe call and give them that idea.
You could have your in-laws call and conference you in so they will hear your voice.
Hi Dan! My wife has no CC yet, Her scores are 780-790 (has few yrs chase checking as well) Do you think she has Any approvel chance? If not which card/s do you recomend? Thanks for everything amazing here! (A Williamsburg kollel yungerman- long time follower!)
I think Chase gives a lot of weight to other accounts you have with them. I have a similar credit score to your wife and have had savings/checking accounts with Chase since hs and they just approved me for significantly more credit than the other the cards I’m holding combined. I was pretty surprised.
If i don’t qualify for the bonus will they for sure not pull my credit?
I have had in the future that I was over 5/24 and applied and my credit was although I wasn’t approved
I was Declined on the spot. So I called them to for a reconsideration. And was accepted after being on the phone close to an hour.
Nice!
Is it possible to apply for this card if you have an saphire reserve
No, but “If you do have an existing Sapphire card product you can still change it to a Freedom card product and then apply for this card in a few days from now.”
My existing Reserve bonus posted 11/10/16. If I understood correctly, even if I downgrade to a freedom card now, I’m unfortunately not eligible to take advantage of this offer because it expires 11/8. Or do we not know how exact Chase will be in calculating the 48 month window? Anyone in a similar situation with their dates have any success?
I just received an email from Chase saying I was preapproved and have until Dec 2 to apply. Would that mean that the promotion expires on 11/8 or would I have 3 months from 12/2?
I have no CC’s yet, (additional user 1-2 yrs, 780-790 scores) can i apply for it?
What would happen if I apply for the chase sapphire preferred and the freedom unlimited at the same time, will my credit score be polled twice? how would that work?
One pull.
https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/results-applications-sapphire-preferred-freedom-flex-cards-roundup-15-active-chase-cards/
I tried this and only one went through. The other , on their end, said the application never went through. I want this card as well. Is it bad to do two pulls in the same month?
If i have the Chase Saphirre reserve, does it make sense to get this one as well?
You would have to downgrade it to a Freedom family card.
Instant, hassle free approval! Thanks so much, Dan! Truly appreciated!
Congrats!
Dan, does Chase approve 2 personal CCs on the same day? or 1 personal & biz? TIA
Yes. YMMV of course.
in fact, just saw/read ur link about ur approval for the CSP & Flex; thx & will give a stab at it later
I wouldn’t. There is DP to suggest thatifget approved for only 1, it may not be the preferred card.
Dan, If i’m a few years additional user, but have no Credit Card’s yet, do you think i should apply for it? do i have chances to get approved? my scores are over 780
Same question here scores around 750, can any 1 pls answer this pls? as so many ppl looking for an answer on it https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/wow-earn-highest-ever-80000-point-signup-bonus-chase-sapphire-preferred-card/#comment-1500723 https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/wow-earn-highest-ever-80000-point-signup-bonus-chase-sapphire-preferred-card/#comment-1500594
I currently have the preferred. Is it possible to cancel it and get this promo by applying again?
Read the post?
Can anyone confirm that “Chase won’t pull credit or approve me if not eligible for card bonus”.
I can confirm
How does this work? When you submit your application online it will notify you that you’re not eligible and ask you if you want to continue your application?
My wife’s 48th month statement is up November 19th and I’m not sure if she would qualify for the sign up bonus or not.
if you downgrade from the reserve to the freedom does that count as a new card for the 5/24
No
Dan, Would you say this is a better card for everyday spending or the Amex Blue cash preferred?
Anyway to quickly use the doordash credit on CSR before downgrading? I don’t think it works for gift cards. Can you prepurchase a meal?
Yes, you can schedule a delivery or pickup.
And they’ll charge me right away? That would be great
Can I apply and they not approve me until January when my 48 months are up
Dan
If I am not eligible to use my sapphire reserve travel credit until December, is it worth losing that and downgrading in rider to be able to apply for this offer or better to wait and see what comes next?
Thanks Dan!
Just applied, got approved instantly.
If I also apply for Freedom Unlimited today will it be another credit pull?
Thanks again!
“You’re approved! Your card and Cardmember Agreement will arrive in 3 to 5 business days.
Your Cardmember Agreement has complete information about the rates and
fees associated with this account.”
It would not be another pull.
can I apply by the 8th and still get bonus if recon approves after initial denial after the 8th?
Yes.
even if denial is for within 48 months?
can i apply for this for my very first credit card?
If I applied last week and its under review, can I still get the bonus if I get approved next week?
Can I downgrade my reserve and preferred, apply for this and then change them both back to reserve and preferred? And I’ll have 1 reserve and 2 preferred?
Please advise asap. As I need to downgrade now.
Thank6
Yes, but why would you want a a reserve and 2 Preferred??
Much more valuable to have Freedom/Freedom Unlimited cards.
Need the reserve for the benefits
Sure, but why 2 Preferred?
i tried to downgrade to a freedom card and they said the only 2 options were freedom unlimited or freedom flex not regular freedom they said it is a discontinued product
To be clear, you cannot get this offer if you have an active Sapphire card (regardless the type) so if I would like to redeem my points at 1.5% value at a later time, I would need to sign up for a new reserve and Again I won’t be able
To get the bonus for signing up. Correct? Unless I downgrade this sapphire to freedom and do it again. Correct?
Does offer expire midnight of 11/7 or at midnight of 11/8?
I’m not doing now for the bonus until November 17th
Is the 8th the last day or untill the 8th?
8th
is it till 11:59 midnight, or before?
My wife had preferred from 5-6 years ago
I downgraded waited a few days and reapplied
Looks like she got approved but is not bonus eligible (On app it does not show the “meter”to 4-5k that usually appears)
Anything I can do?
If you’re approved you’ll get the bonus.
I got my reserve bonus Dec 2016 so I just missed out on this bonus 🙁
Dan,
Do you think if I applied for only 2 1/2 months ago for my first chase (freedom unlimited) card that they might approve me?
I do have other cards, the oldest 2yrs 3m and 4 more within 24 months but one is a store card, and 2 where opened just 2 1/2 months ago.
If they’re not approving me will it help telling them that I on
Y applied now again because it’s a good travel card and with the amazing bonus I wanna pile up points together with my wife that she has that card already?
P.S. I know that this card starts with a credit limit of 5K, Because my brother tried applying for it and they said his credit is not yet ready for this limit Because of a short history And it starts with a limit of 5K,
while I am with a longer history and the first card they approved me they approve me with a credit limit of 3900 do you think should I take a risk and I might get approved as I wrote above?
I would really appreciate your response, thanks.
Dan,
What did you think about my question?
No reason not to try.
Thanks Dan for your reply,
I actually did so on Fri that I have applied, and at that time they said they need some more review and they’ll let me know in up to 10 days,
I never got a response yet from them, but when I signed in now to my account I see they approved me.
Thanks Dan.
Got my reserve bonus sometime in February 2017. Hoping for another big one soon
I got my bonus in Dec of 2016 . any chance il get the bonus?
After getting instant approval for this card, I then applied for a FLEX card in a different browser on the same day, and my acceptance I pending, and is under review.
I tried to get this and flex combo, did I miss a step?
Normal.
i know someone with excellent credit that applied for the flex and it said pending two weeks later he got a call from chase to verify that he applied and then they told him that he’s approved.
Hi Dan.
I opened my saphire card on 11/17/2016 and got my bonus on 11/24/2016, (since then I downgraded it to a freedom) so if apply for the Saphire before Nov 8th and only do the spending of 4K AFTER 11/24/2020 would that be considered 48months to be eligible for the 80k signup bonus?
Thanks in advance
so i am confused…I had a Chase Sappire reserve card exactly 2 years ago….I downgraded to a Freedom card almost a year ago. However I received the bonus points for my Reserve card within 48 months….Do I still qualify for the Bonus points for this Preferred card if I sign up with this now? Chase told me that I won’t if they see I had a Reserve card that received points within 48 months. Has anyone else successfully downgraded after having received points from a reserve within 48 months and still received the bonus points for this as well?
If My wife is an authorized user on my CC account, can she apply for herself and get the bonus?
Yes.
How long after being declined is it possible to call reconsideration?
Right away.
I meant to ask the latest I can call them since I don’t want to open the account yet because I have to spend on a different card
is it possible to contact reconsideration via secure message?
If yes is it easyer to get aspproved by calling?
Try and let us know.
If I am an authorized user on someone else’s sapphire preferred card can I still get this?
Yes.
Thanks Dan And JJ for everything
Just wondering if you can make sense out of this: Chase sent me an email that I am pre-approved for this card, but when I applied, they said they need more time to consider the application…
No 5/24 or any other issue…
Any clue?
Thanks
Can I get card if opened my saphire card on 11/17/2016 and got my bonus on 11/24/2016, (since then I downgraded it to a freedom) so if apply for the Saphire Today and only do the spending of 4K AFTER 11/24/2020 would that be considered 48months to be eligible for the 80k signup bonus? And if not can I apply and then recon after Nov 24 and still get 80k if approved?
you say 2016, then you past already 2 times 48 months?!
There’s only 12 months in a year in my calendar.
my mistake, *s times 24 months, the policy is 5/24 not 5/48
The policy is 5/24, not 5/48
reconsideration department is open sunday?
their number please? thanks!
I just downgraded my card. Does that mean I cant get this offer anymore bec need to wait a day or two before applying?
is the reconsideration office today?
What credit bureau do they pull?
I downgrade my Sapphire reserve and still got declined. Even though I got my card on September 2016 it’s because I got the bonus points on December 16 so it’s not yet 48 months
I earned the bonus the statement ending 11/16/2016 (though I have the card since August 2016). Per Chase, I just miss the 48 months 🙁
I called customer service and they said converting from Chase Freedom to Sapphire will NOT entitle me to the 80,000 points
Hi Dan, kind of a random question, I am going to be staying in the fountainbleau hotel in Miami. I’ll be there for the weekend (including over shabbos) I was wondering if there is a way of getting kosher food from the hotel? If yes, for what meals? And how does one go about doing so?
I got the below results, does anyone know if this type of response is final or I should still try recon?
Unfortunately, we are unable to approve your application.
We will provide you more detailed information in 7-10 days that explains the reasons for this decision.
“We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible.
Thank you for choosing the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card” What does this mean? Any chances for approval? should wait for the mail or call in recons.?
I applied also at the same time for the freedom & flex, (as you mentioned to save inquiries) i got this: “We appreciate your interest in a Chase card product. We have received the information you have submitted. You may close your browser session.” what does this mean?
no answer’s 🙁
Ok I’ll apply
You asked so nice so many times
Hello dan i Applied with your link, I got this msg, “We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible.
Thank you for choosing the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card”
What does it mean? What are my chances for approval? should wait for the mail to arrive or rather call rightaway reconsideration? Pls Help Thanks! A long time follower
Darn! We have sapphire cards. Can we cancel them today and still qualify?
Don’t cancel. It is better to downgrade to a Freedom card. It takes more time to register the cancellation. My husband cancelled his a couple of weeks ago and it still shows as opened.
But will the downgrade now if I immediately apply for the Sapphire (Dan writes “wait a few days”)?
Applied and rejected yesterday. Called reconsideration today and approved (at about 5:30 EST). Can I still expect the bonus?
Also, was asked how much I pay off on credit cards monthly. I assumed they wanted to hear a high number. Any ideas on this?
dead
I took my chance and applied for this card on the 9th. I’ve received CSR sign up bonus on 11/15/2020 and I was waiting for 48month to be sure but I didn’t wanna miss out on 80,000points.
I got instant approved but I was worried if I’m still eligible to get the sign up bonus.
2 days later I see $ spend towards signup bonus tab on my app. I guess I’m eligible! It’s true you get approved = you are eligible for a sign up bonus
As always, Thanks Dan & his team for the detailed info
*I meant, I received CSR bonus on 11/15/2016. So very close to 48month but not quite.
From 11/1/20-4/30/31 you can also earn 2 points per dollar on groceries, including grocery pickup and delivery. The bonus is capped at $1,000 in monthly grocery spending.
21 not 31
Any offers out there?
