Chase took the credit card and mileage world by storm last August when they introduced the Sapphire Reserve. I’m sure the big question for them is what percentage of people will keep the card for a 2nd year.

The card is pricey at $450/year. But it also delivers a massive value for that annual fee and it’s why I’ll keep my card open.

As a reminder, here are the benefits of the card:

Signup bonus:

You can view credit card offers by clicking on the “Credit Cards” tab on top of the DansDeals banner to view links for card offers including “Top card offers.

After Chase took a massive loss on the card last year they dropped the signup bonus from 100K to 50K points for spending $4K in 3 months. That’s nothing to sneeze at though, those points are worth at least $750 towards airfare, car rentals, hotels, and activities.

Travel credit:

The Sapphire Reserve offers a $300 automatic travel credit to offset the annual fee.

The credit is good for any kind of travel related spending including airfare, car rentals, hotels, Disney tickets, Cruises, subways, taxis, and much more. Read a list of confirmed transactions that will trigger a credit here.

As I applied for my card before 5/21/17, my credit is per calendar year. If you applied on or after 5/21/17 your credit will be based on a cardmembership year. Either way, you can still get 2 of the $300 credits in your first cardmembership year, for a total of $600 in travel credits in your first year.

The $300 in travel spend and $100 Global Entry fees that are refunded count towards the $4K threshold. You’ll even get the keep the bonus points for travel spending that is refunded. The annual fee does not count towards the spend threshold.

After the first year, the annual travel credit effectively lowers the annual fee of the card to $150 per year. That’s only $55 per year more than Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and it comes with a lot of valuable benefits that make the card a keeper:

Bonus points:

Sapphire Reserve offers 3 points per dollar on all of the travel items listed in this post. It also offers triple points on dining including restaurants, fast food, coffee shops, bars, lounges, and cafes.

There are no foreign transaction fees.

Lounge access:

You’ll be able to access over 900 clubs worldwide with Priority Pass and you can bring unlimited guests with you into the lounge for free! That includes lounges with kosher food and wine in Newark and Tel Aviv. You can call Chase to enroll in Priority Pass or you can enroll online here. You can even pay to access Priority Pass lounges before you get your membership card and you can call Chase to refund those lounge entries!

The Newark Art & Lounge in Terminal B is located before security and doesn’t require a boarding pass, so you can stop in for free kosher food and wine at any time!

Every 4 years you can get a $100 credit for a 5 year Global Entry membership which also includes TSA pre-check. That means you can skip the lines and forms when flying back from abroad and you can leave your shoes on, laptops in their bags, and go through metal detectors when flying from the US. It makes flying so much easier!

Additional cardholders cost $75/year and include a Priority Pass membership with free guesting privileges as well.

Increased cash back or miles:
The Sapphire Reserve allows you to use all your Chase points for 1.5 cents each per dollar towards travel.

The ability to choose between 1.5 cents per dollar or mileage transfers make Sapphire Reserve an incredibly versatile credit card. Thanks to their ability to be used at a high value as miles or when redeemed directly from Chase for travel, I called them Hybrid points.”

You can choose to hunt for award tickets bargains and then transfer them into real airline miles instantly. The value of airline miles can be extremely high for one-way tickets, last-minute tickets, and first class tickets.

Or you can just use them for paid airfare, hotels, car rentals, or activities at a value of 1.5 cents each.

You can earn even more by spending on other Chase cards and transferring those points to Sapphire Reserve:
-If you have a Freedom Unlimited card you earn 1.5 points per dollar everywhere that are worth 2.25% towards travel when you transfer them to Sapphire Reserve.
-If you have a Freedom card you earn 5 points per dollar on rotating categories that are worth 7.5% towards travel when you transfer them to Sapphire Reserve.
-If you have Ink Plus or Ink Cash card you earn 5 points per dollar on office supplies, gift cards from office supply stores to hundreds of other stores, and telecom that are worth 7.5% towards travel when you transfer them to Sapphire Reserve. Gas, hotel, and dining purchases also have double point bonuses worth 3% towards travel.
-If you have Ink Business Preferred card you earn 3 points per dollar on travel, shipping, internet, cable, and telecom, and advertising on social media and search engines.that are worth 4.5% towards travel when you transfer them to Sapphire Reserve.

That means you can be earning a minimum of 2.25%-7.5% back everywhere or more if you utilize your miles wisely.

If you already have a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card you can downgrade it to Freedom or Freedom Unlimited to take advantage of their spending benefits and you can always transfer those points to Sapphire Reserve to make them 50% more valuable.

As a Visa Infinite card, it also comes with some benefits like discounts on car rentals, including 30% off at Silvercar.

Sapphire Reserve comes with primary rental car CDW insurance in every country in the world. Most other cards only have secondary coverage when you rent a car in your home country. This means that if you damage your rental vehicle you must file the claim with your own personal insurance policy first, and only if they won’t cover the damage will the credit card cover the damage. Even additional cardholders get primary coverage when they rent.

Most credit cards also exclude countries like Israel from coverage, however all Chase cards cover you worldwide, including in Israel. And they will give you a letter of coverage stating that you are covered in Israel so that you don’t have to argue at the rental car counter that your Chase Visa does give CDW coverage.

Plus you get triple points on car rentals, meaning there is no better card out there for car rentals!

-Roadside Assistance: Coverage for up to 4 incidents per year.

-Trip cancellation insurance is free.
Trip cancellation reimburses up to $10,000 per person, up to $20,000 per trip, and up to $40,000 per year if you need to cancel for injury, death, or sickness experienced by you, a traveling companion, or an immediate family member of you or your traveling companion. Other covered reasons include severe weather, military orders, terrorism, jury duty, home dwelling becoming inhabitable, quarantine, or financial insolvency of the travel agency or operator of your trip.

Other card benefits include:
-Price protection. Find a lower price in a store or online on a non-auction site within 90 days and get back up to $500/item and $2,500/year.
-Return protection. Return an item to a store that won’t take back an item for up to 90 days ($500/item, $1,000/year)
-Purchase protection: 120 days of protection in case of damage or theft on items you buy ($10,000/item, $50K/year)
-Warranty protection: An extra year of warranty coverage on purchases ($10K/item, $50K/account)
-Lost Luggage Protection: If your checked or carry-on bags are lost you can be reimbursed by up to $3,000 per person.
-Trip Delay Protection: If you are delayed that either requires an overnight stay or is more than 6 hours you can be reimbursed for up to $500 in expenses per person.
-Baggage Delay Protection: If your bags are delayed by more than 6 hours you can be reimbursed for up to $100 in expenses per person per day, for up to $500 per person.
-Emergency Travel Evacuation and Transportation: $100,000 of coverage if you need to be transported after getting ill or injured on a trip.
-Emergency Travel Medical and Dental Benefit: $2,500 of coverage if you have medical bills when on a trip.
-Travel Accident Insurance: Coverage if you are injured or killed on a trip.
-Visa Infinite Concierge is included free of charge.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® card earns Ultimate Rewards points and has the ability to transfer points into miles.  It also gives you the ability to transfer points from fantastic no annual fee cards like Chase Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Ink Cash into miles as well, as those cards can’t transfer points directly into miles without having the Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Ink Plus card.

You can also transfer points at an equal ratio to your own or to one authorized user’s airline and hotel programs:
-United (Star Alliance)
-Singapore (Star Alliance)
-British Airways (OneWorld)
-Korean (Skyteam)
-Air France/KLM Flying Blue (Skyteam)
-Southwest
-Virgin Atlantic
-Hyatt
-Marriott
-Ritz Carlton
-IHG

Point Currency:

Chase Ultimate Rewards offer instant and fee-free transfers to top-notch mileage and points programs at a 1:1 ratio.

You can transfer points to a household member’s Chase card or to an authorized user’s airline/hotel programs.

You can also transfer points to Chase business Ink cards like Ink Bold/Cash/Plus/Preferred where you can transfer from there to other business owner’s cards and/or programs.

Transfer partners include:
United (Star Alliance) is an excellent currency. They never charge fuel surcharges, they allow one-way awards for half the mileage, they have short-haul awards for 10,000 miles, they often run discounted award promotions, they allow for an “excursionist perk“, and they have dozens of partners to fly on, most of which can be booked on their website.
British Airways (OneWorld) is awesome for short-haul awards, though partner American has been stingy with award space of late. Awards start from just 4.5K miles. Flights to Israel on Air Berlin are just 60,000 miles round-trip with no fuel surcharges. They allow one-way awards for half the mileage. There are no close-in or expedite fees. You can cancel an award for as little as $5.60. Infants are only charged 10% of the miles on international trips instead of 10% of the full fare like US carriers charge. Plus they don’t collect fuel surcharges on American within the western hemisphere, on Qantas from or within Australia, on Air Berlin, Aer Lingus, Alaska, or LAN and you can transfer points to Iberia to limit fuel surcharges there as well.
You can read more in this post on everything you need to know about BA Avios. And you can see 110 places you can go to nonstop from NYC with Avios.
Korean (Skyteam) offers unbeatable first class availability (A380 First Class Trip Report here) and they also have true bargains on partner travel, just 30,000 miles to fly round-trip on Hawaiian or Alaska to Hawaii in coach or 60,000 miles in first. And it’s just 20,000 miles to fly to Alaska in coach or 40,000 miles in first. You can even get a free stopover on the way to or in Alaska! If there is Delta saver availability you can even fly to Hawaii, Mexico, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands round-trip for just 25,000 miles in coach or 45,000 miles in business.
Air France/KLM Flying Blue (Skyteam) offers promo awards from rotating North American cities to Europe, Israel, and Russia from just 12,500 miles each way. Regular awards to Israel are just 25K miles each way, though some fuel surcharges apply on most airlines except for Delta.
Singapore (Star Alliance) offers private walled-in first class suites that can only be booked with their miles. A suite one-way from JFK to Tel Aviv via Frankfurt is 75K miles. Travel to the US48, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and Israel can all be had on the cheap. There are no close-in booking fees and changes and cancellations are very cheap. Fuel surcharges apply when flying on most airlines besides Singapore and United. More info here.
Southwest offers a value of about 1.7 cents per point towards award travel, though that rate can now vary. Plus you get 2 free checked bags, free flight changes or flight cancellations. and you can even get a point refund if the price of your flight goes down.
Virgin Atlantic has some niche uses with awards for ANA Business/First class and on Delta.
Hyatt is a very powerful hotel currency. They have a cash and points option that offers some excellent values and more importantly those stays earn points, elite stay credits, promo credits, and you can use suite upgrades on cash and point stays as well. It remains far less expensive for high-end hotel stays than any other hotel program.
-You can also transfer points to Marriott, Ritz Carlton, and IHG.

-Generally speaking you’ll want to use the 1.5 cents per point option when redeeming for round-trip coach tickets booked in advance. You’ll generally want to transfer to miles for business class, first class, last minute and one-way coach awards. You’ll be better off with 1.5 cents per points for IHG and Marriott hotels, but Hyatt points can often be worth more than 1.5 cents each, so you’ll want to transfer points to Hyatt in those cases.

FYI- I saw a DP on reddit of someone who got $150 prorated refund of the annual fee after PCing to a CFU after 8 months. So he got $600 in travel credit, and only paid $300 of the annual fee.

JB

I love this card. My one knock on it is the priority pass access. Every time I want to go to the lounge, its always in a different terminal and its not worth going through security again. I wish there was an option, say $50 less annual fee and you can forfeit the club pass.

High end hobo

Technically BA awards start at 4k with BA shorthaul off-peak awards.

Also Virgin Atlantic’s current best use isn’t with Delta but rather with J/F on NH

ljderm

I have read and re-read this post on multiple occasions, and as a Saphire Reserve enthusiast, have not been able to figure a way to buy a Southwest ticket using this card other than to purchase on the SW website with the card and then have Chase customer service refund the price at a one cent per point rate.

Have I missed any options?

Ezz

@benyomin what did he do?

Anonymous

Do you get 3 points on gas.
I miscalculated my 4k spend by including the annual fee. They won’t give me the miles. I called twice and they escalated it

AC

I got the card in Sept and got my refund of the 450 in May. I still use the card for very small purchases. Comes next Sept I probably will keep the card and see if I get a bill for The annual fee. I will then secure message them to move over some credit so I can use it for my car rentals in Israel

Raj

Is the priority pass good for the first year only or as long as you have the card?

Al

If you get the bonus per cardmembership year, then how do you get 2 in one year?

If a plane ticket costs more than $187.50 one way, then it’s better to transfer miles (12,500), right?

wassim

keeping card for the second year, i was talking to a friend, he works at a local chase office and he mentioned that chase will be offering the 100K sign up bonus again

Al

Hey Dan,

Didn’t Singapore recently eliminate surcharges for partner airlines?

ac

Dan why are you blocking my posts

Moshe

Hi dan, I’m trying to get this straight. I got accepted for the reserve on Jan 5 2017 which was right before the offer went down to 50K. Now I’m probably gonna keep this card thanks to you for explaining all the benefits that come along. But let’s say I do decide to close it last minute, when and how do I make sure to get the next $300 in travel credit. Do I have to take care of it in the first 5 days of January? Or do I do it after my December cycle finishes? Or after the statement closes?

Nun

Ljderm, Go to the travel booking page. At the bottom it lists a number to call to ticket southwest with your UR points.

Ari

Gonna downgrade mine and sign my wife up for one. No need to both have one so I’ll get the extra 50K MR and then probably keep hers active for all the other benifits.

Mo

What is more recommended to do with my preferred, down grade to a free preferred or to a freedom or freedom unlimited? And what’s if I already have both the freedom and the unlimited?

ucif

@Dan: @ac:

i think the UA close in fee workaround still works over the phone.

ljderm

Dan Said:
“Did you call Chase UR to book the Southwest ticket for you?”

Yes, sir, I did. They are the ones who told me to book using the Saphire card and to call Chase Cust service who would refund the ticket at 1 cent per point. I called Cust service just verify and they did, at that very rate.

Is there another option? Escalate the call?

Yitzy

@Moshe:
In such a scenario that someone gets a card in 2017 is it at all possible to do a triple dip on the travel credit? Meaning to say that I can get $900 in credit?

Ac

@Dan:
Sorry,

Your right.

Anonymous

@ljderm: I have called Chase to try to buy southwest tickets but they haven’t been able to get me the lowest price available on southwest.com. Instead I transfered UR to southwest points and bought them that way. I bought a $140 RT ticket for 8K southwest points. UR transfers 1:1 so I got better then 1.5 on that ticket.

Yitzy

@Dan:
I’m not sure the exact date. But it was in the beginning of January before the bonus went down.

Does it pay to keep BOTH United Club Card & CSR?

The main benefit of UCC for me is the $75 close-in waiver. (Used to be United Club access, but since gate passes stopped working, this benefit is diminished.

Mrs k

Dan
I took a flight ewr to tlv paid with the reserve card. On the outbound flight we had 9 hours delay with united airline . Does the $600 trip delay apply to it.

Anonymous

Thanks
Also. United offered $125 travel certificates for future travel. yiu think it’s fate a $125 ?

Anonymous

@Binyomin:

I thought after 8 months there is no pro-rated refund?

I thought you now only have 30 days?

nsx at FlyerTalk

If I were Chase I would make a list of people who dropped the Reserve card before paying the second $450 fee. That list would be very useful to identify potentially costly customers for extra scrutiny on future credit card applications.

I’m going to keep the card because its benefits are worth the net cost of $150 per year.

Jennifer

@ljderm:
I actually transferred CSR points to SW account , and used the rapid rewards to buy tickets. Surprisingly, it was less points.
An $80 ticket was 5,333 CSR points, but SW was only ~4000 points.

Mo

@ac how can I contact you?

Joe

How does the roadside assistance benefit compare to having AAA? Is it worth it to cancel AAA (about $80/yr)?

ucif

@nsx at FlyerTalk:

That would be illegal.

Keith H.

Does anyone know if Chase is offering any retention bonuses?

Sara

I got approved for CSR in November. I already double-dipped on the travel credit. Is there a way to triple-dip before I cancel the card before the second year begins?

sara

i got the email from chase on jan13 2017 that will get my csr card soon in the mail i got my first $300 credit now in april/may 2017 from when can i get my second credit ? can i get a 3 time ?how do i know when i applied for it if it was in dec 2016 or jan 2017 meaning does it go when you applied for the card or when you got approved or when you actually got the card
thanx for your help

Southwest

I don’t understand why you would want to purchase a southwest flight with UR points. Isn’t it better to transfer to southwest where you usually get about 1.7 per point as well as the flexibility of canceling/changing tickets?

Alex K.

I am keeping the card. This card allowed me to downgrade my chase ink plus to cash, so $95 savings there. I spend a fair amount every year on travel and restaurants. Since I needed at least one premium card to be able to use UR points at full value, this one makes total sense for only $55 extra over Chase Ink or Sapphire Prefered

Thingy

Re Newark lounge access; do they not require a valid ticket for that day?

aradisc

@Southwest @ljderm @Dan

If “Wanna Get Away” fares are available on the itinerary it is almost always a better deal to transfer UR points to Rapid Rewards than book though the UR portal. The points cost will be close to equal and you get free refunds including taxes, and refunds if fares drop. If you call them they probably wont even know to tell you that.

However, with “Anytime” or “Business Select” fares are all that’s left, you should use the UR portal because the Rapid Rewards rate for those is only ~1cpp.

Sarstuff

I love my Chase Reserve card and all is benefits and will be keeping it for a second year (double dipped on the $300 travel credit so yay). My question is if I add an additional card holder are the eligible for the global entry credit too?

Joe-Shmoe

If i close for year #2 is my Priority Pass automatically revoked?

Ilana G

I got my sapphire reserve card in January 2017. I used one travel credit and I don’t understand how it’s possible to get another in the same calendar year? When I called they told me my travel credit has already been used for a his year.

XJ

Thanks for the infor, Dan. Did Chase change their lounge policy? ”
Lounge access:
You’ll be able to access over 900 clubs worldwide with Priority Pass and you can bring unlimited guests with you into the lounge for free! ”

I called before our trip this summer, they told me free for just Chase policy holder.

zev

Did anybody use the reserve road-side-assistance? were they fast…? Please tell us your experience!

IK

@Dan

regarding your comment @XJ, Can you please provide a link to where it says “Lounge access:
You’ll be able to access over 900 clubs worldwide with Priority Pass and you can bring unlimited guests with you into the lounge for free!”

I looked at Chase fine print and the Priority Pass fine print and cannot seem to find anything supporting that claim.

Thank you!!

Singapore suites

@dan why am I seeing Singapore 130k points to Frankfurt in the private suites. How do I get the 75k rate?

yitzyp

hello Dan, thanks for all great info, I’m tryin to find out if this card or any card with car rental insurance, cover any of the new generation car rentals like Zipcar, car2go, reach now, I called chase, but they weren’t sure themselves.

Welder

Do the travel benefits of the card apply if I book using points via the Sapphire Reserve Ultimate Rewards portal, or only if the flight is charged to the card?

Anonymous

@Dan: Not sure if the $450 is worth it even with the $300 travel credit.

yair

I’m keeping mine. Between the lounge access, the 3X on travel and the 50% bonus on point redemptions, I’m well ahead on the $150 AF (after using the travel credit, of course).

Ins

Had canceled trip
Completed papers
Company administrator want to see $ paid for trip which was paid with IR
And per policy covered
As much as I explained they insist on seeing
Statement showing booked trip on cc statement
We are going back and forth for ONe YEAR
And it’s not going anywhere
Nice. Ben on paper
Impossible to get when earned

Ink

I have ink bold and Teservr
Fees 95 plus 450
Which one woyld you eliminate?
I don’t want to pay more than one AF
Not justified

Eric

Regarding the rental car insurance, if I book a rental car thru Chase’s website, with my Sapphire reserve card but using points, will I still get the rental insurance? I rented a car for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica.

BTW, I used points for the flights and one of the hotels at 1.5, all thanks to Dan’s deals info!

Justin

I cannot justify keeping this card. I travel approx. 2x/year but seem to get the best value by transferring miles rather than using the rewards portal. I’m rarely in an airport lounge enough to use lounge access. I spend about $1200 on dinning a year and maybe around $2000 at most on travel a year. Most of my rewards come from the Ink Card. Doesn’t seem worth it to keep this card? Thanks for your posts though; I enjoy reading and learning. Am I missing anything?

chaim

HI @Dan nice post
just wanted to make sure i understand correct is it only 2500 -Emergency Travel Medical and Dental Benefit: $2,500 of coverage if you have medical bills when on a trip.

which card is the best for medical travel insurance?
do i still need to buy travel insurance if i have this card?

Thanks

Dan wrote:
Increased cash back or miles:

Are the points worth 1.5 cents only when booking travel via the Chase Reserve website?

ink

@emes, yes, that is how you get 1.5 value.

my experience with CSR:
1. Fighting for a year for refund on trip booked w points for a valid reason. insurance company doesnt understand booking w points, and while chase say its also coveted, insurance insistn they need to see full trip charged in $. points print they didnt understand.
spending lots of effort, no one to talk to.
2. Lounge – never used, location not where I depart from, not practical to go thru security and travel between terminals, no go in LHR either.
All and all, unsure.
need to choose to keep either CSR or INK Bold.
I know I cant get bold again, but for the low x5 i use unsure if jutified.

Alex

I missed on CSR but just got USB Altitude and after its travel credit it’s only $75 a year (vs $150 a year hear), and for someone spending next to nothing on dining out and always flying economy thus having half a million of UR points that will take a while to go through on Saver tickets. I just don’t know if I had kept this card, since USB Altitude gives more value for paying with points since I could for example get 4.5% back on travel at Costco with Samsung Pay. The only drawback is that I need to pay the whole thing with points with Altitude.

NB

Dan, on the travel insurance, does the travel need to have been charged on the card or with UR awards?

I’ve double dipped this year and am still unsure whether I will keep the card or not. I like the 3x dining points so is there a break-even point with dining when it’s worth keeping the card for the remainder of the $150 fee? If I do want to triple dip, my first statement came out on Jan 18th so I guess I got the card on 12/18/16. When would I have to charge the last 300 credit and by when do I need to close the account? As of now I’m leaning towards keeping it though.

Joe

from Chase terms:

Covers trips when travel arrangements for a pre-paid tour, trip or vacation have been purchased with an eligible Chase card or with rewards earned on an eligible Chase card

Debra

The lounge in Newark does require a boarding pass now. I was just there 2 weeks ago

Eric

Would you agree that downgrading the CSP to Freedom Unlimited should NOT be done if one is under 5/24 and rather just order new one with signup bonus?

LW

So does that mean that if you already received your $300 travel credit last year and then again after December, you won’t receive an additional $300 after December this year?

Diana

I got Chase Sapphire Reserve last year and already received $300 for both calendar years. I had got the bonus for signing up last year which I have not used. I would like to transfer it to my Chase Slate or Chase Freedom and downgrade the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Is this a good move? I dont have any other chase CC. Please advice?

chaya

can someone explain if i can get the 600 in travel credits still? and how so? (havent applied yet)

KB

When you say that if you cancel the travel you get to keep the bonus points are you referring to the triple points for travel or the sign on bonus? I had to cancel travel and I lost the triple points.

Aaron Friedman

Can I transfer my BA Avios points to my Sapphire Reserve Card?

mayank

the priority pass is amazing. we used it in sri lanka, india, australia, mexico, peru, columbia nad aruba. 3% CB on restaurants with no foreign transaction fee is also pretty good.

Ilana G

Hi Dan can you please review how do I go about transferring my Chase Sapphire Reserve points into miles when booking a one way airline ticket? Will I still get the 1.5 cents per point if I convert into miles?
Thanks so much.

Teri

I have tried numerous times to get a good deal through the ultimate rewards desk and found that their prices and award points were higher than if I book directly with United for travel to Boston and New York from Cleveland So the net $150 fee per year isn’t looking like it’s worth it

HaRabbi Mi-Ooto

Note Global Entry can be renewed up to a year in advance!

In more detail: Global Entry can be renewed ($100 fee) UP TO A YEAR IN ADVANCE of its expiration date. If that falls within the card’s 2nd year, that alone probably makes the renewal worthwhile ($300 travel credit + $100 renewal fee reimbursement are alone nearly enough to offset the $450 annual fee). Hope this helps.

HaRabbi Mi-Ooto

No prorated refund. Contrary to some posts below and elsewhere on the web, Chase currently offers NO partial or prorated refund if you cancel sometime during the year.

Also, renewal cancellation window is 30 days (not 60 or 90 days), starting with the date the renewal fee was posted to the account. If you miss this window, the full $450 will apply even if you cancel the card one day later.

Verified today (10/3/17) with two separate Chase reps.

EC

BE AWARE OF THE REIMBURSEMENT OF PRIORITY PASS MENTIONED IN POST

So, a Chase CS rep screwed up when I initially called to inquire how to get my PP card and said it had been activated already. I was surprised and thought she knew what she was talking about. Apparently, either through human error or computer, the card was NOT activated (didn’t know I could do so online as I received no information on that when I got my card and just now seeing this link in your post.) Don’t bother calling Priority Pass membership services as nothing is processed or handled here. And at Chase no one can tell me anything regarding getting a digital number, they won’t expedite it and they all say I have to wait for the card in the mail.

The new CS rep who did activate the card said Chase would ONLY reimburse ONE trip of club access, so if you have back to back trips and will not be home to get the card in the mail, you will not get reimbursed on all the club accesses. Now, right before I’m traveling (day before) the card has now been activated. I am going to be in 8 airports in 3 weeks, and I would like to go to all the clubs I can without paying for it.

I have made another compliant via email requesting that all club entries be reimbursed. I will let you know what happens, but clearly this is an antiquated system in a time when everything is digital and should be instantaneous.
