Update, 10/4: Chase has confirmed to me that this offer will end on Wednesday, 10/6!
Update, 10/4: Chase’s ad on Google now says that the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card offer expires in 3 days!
Originally posted on 10/3:
The Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card is currently offering an unprecedented 100,000 points for spending $4,000 in 3 months. With a low $95 annual fee and new benefits like a $50 annual hotel credit, triple points on dining, streaming, and online grocery, transferrable points, and a 10% anniversary points bonus, the card is an incredibly good value. You can read more about the offer here.
While there is no published end date, eagle eyed DDF member WonderingYid points out that if you Google “Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card ends” it now comes up with an ad placed by Chase stating that the offer ends in just 4 days!
I have reached out to Chase for comment about the end date, but offer end dates often aren’t published, so this may be all the advance notice we’ll get.
This is one of the strongest credit card offers that I’ve ever seen, so take advantage of it while you can!
Note that if you do currently have any Sapphire card product, you would have to call Chase to change it to a Freedom card and wait about 2-4 days before you can get approved for this card offer.
It’s also worth noting that just having a Chase checking account greatly improves your odds of being approved for this card, even if you have been rejected for it.

Shoot. Got the bonus like 47 months ago.Was hoping the offer will extend another month
What statement date did you get the last Sapphire bonus?
I don’t know how to see the exact date, but I was a little off. On my Dec 9th 2017 statement I see that I got the bonus.
I got my bonus on 10/4/2017 am I eligible to signup today?
Should work. Good luck and let us know!
Approved! Thanks
Congrats!
Got approved! I don’t see the signup bonus tracking meter in the app. Should I be worried that I won’t be getting the bonus? My statement closing date of the last bonus I received was 10/3/2017.
No, have some patience 🙂
You will get the bonus.
Thanks Dan!
If I got the reserve <48 mos ago, I am not eligible for the Preferred, correct? (even if I never had this product)
Correct.
Ugh, my wife’s bonus statement closed 11/17/2017. So close! My last bonus was 4/16/2018
Why don’t you Google again tomorrow and see if it says ends in 4 days or 3 days?
Now says 3 days ….
So I got the Chase Sapphire Reserve bonus I see on my February 2017 statement, currently still have this Chase Sapphire reserve
Will this work for me?
Yes you should be eligible for the bonus, but you need to downgrade the Reserve to a Freedom to get approved for a new Sapphire
So according to this, that means October 7th is the last day?
Seems so.
Try it now it went down to three days
Do you think they will raise the offer again
I wouldn’t bet on that.
Doubt it.
I guess I’ll be signing up tomorrow.. Thanks for the push.
Your welcome! (:
Can those points be transferred for free to southwest miles
Sure.
Is it not smart to cancel the Marriott bonvoy card that I’m paying $100/yr so I can get this? Or is there a way to downgrade it? Don’t really want to pay for two cards…
Do you not get that value from the annual free Marriott night?.
I got my last Sapphire bonus on November 4, 2017. Any chance I can apply on, say, October 6, and then on November 5 call recon to get manually approved- since the 48 months will have elapsed, and since it will still be within 30 days of the application I can still get the 100k?
after you downgrade, how do you know if it will take 2-4 days to be able to apply?
You apply and call if denied. And apply again the next day if the offer is still around.
potential to call if denied, or only reapply?
So no use in applying if I got the bonus im December. A real bumber. I downgraded already in anticipation. Guess I was being to hopefull
I downgraded my csr yesterday (Sunday). Do you think I can apply for csp on Wednesday?
Should work.
If I downgrade my reserve today will I be able to get this bonus tomorrow or Wednesday?
Offer should be available until Thursday according to this I think. It should be enough time.
Thank you
Offer will end Wednesday. YMMV on waiting 2 days, might work, might not.
Had to change csr to freedom. Was rejected outright, called reconsideration. Told too many cards in 24 mos. last one was au so they removed that. Would only approve me if I moved some credit limit to new card. They then approved csp!
Nicely done!
if I downgrade CSR, any chance of getting approved same day, or must give it some time first?
No, you need to give it 2-3 days.
IS THER STILL ENOUGH TIME TO DOWNGRADE SAPHIRE (what should I downgrade to?) AND THEN SIGN UP FOR PREFERRED IN TIME TO GET BONUS?
Maybe. You can change to Freedom or Freedom Unlimited and try applying on Wednesday. There are links in this post to where that has been discussed.
How does one know when the “downgrade” has been effected, permitting a new application for preferred?
You don’t. Just need to apply and call if needed. There’s no credit pull if you’re denied for it.
Can we apply on Wednesday or too late by then?
Yes, I will try to find out until what time.
My wife’s bonus came October 2017 (10/13/17 close date). Anyway to know if she is eligible?
Unlikely to get approved, but you may be able to apply on Wednesday and then call reconsideration on October 13th to try to get approved.
If you are approved, you will get the bonus.
Got my last bonus November 3rd 2017 can I still get this bonus ?
Unlikely to get approved, but you may be able to apply on Wednesday and then call reconsideration on November 3rd to try to get approved.
If you are approved, you will get the bonus
Can this work for a card that was downgraded today? If denied on Wednesday call 3 days after when the downgrade will be complete?
What about the ink cards increased sign up bonuses?
Are those also expiring on Wednesday?
Anyone know?
Unknown.
I guess it’s too late to cancel my reserve to get this?
No, plenty of people have been able to signup after 2 days.
@dan Do you think i can still cancel my reserve and be able to apply for the preffered before the end of this offer?
I would recommend downgrading to Freedom/Freedom Unlimited instead. Plenty of people have been able to signup after 2 days.
Will points that you transfer from Chase to Southwest count towards qualification of the required $120, 000 points for a Southwest companion eligibility
No.
Can I buy gift cards on Amazon, Uber and instacart to meat spend minimum of 4k? Do gift cards count?
Sure!
