Last month, new Capital One Venture X Business Cards switched from Mastercard to Visa.
Unfortunately, that appears to have meant the end of Priority Pass Restaurant Access for new cardholders.
Previously, Capital One had confirmed that “Venture X Business cardholders do have access to both Priority Pass Lounges and non-lounge airport experiences, powered by Mastercard’s World Elite for Business benefits.”
The good news is that previous Mastercard holders will continue to have that access. For now at least.
In Cleveland, that meant getting a $28 per person credit every time I stop at Bar Symon. With 2 guests, you can load up on $84 of free snacks and drinks, and they’re happy to pack it up to go. The same exists in many airports worldwide.
But new cardholders will get a Visa card, and that won’t have restaurant access.
Sadly, Chase cards will also lose restaurant access after 6/30.
You can tell if your Priority Pass card has restaurant access, by creating an account in the Priority Pass app, and searching for restaurants, like Bar Symon in Cleveland’s Concourse C or Bobby Van’s Steakhouse in JFK’s Terminal 8. If they show up, your card still has access to them.
It’s been a fun run, though the party lives on for now if you have grandfathered cards like Venture X Business Mastercard or a Citi Prestige card.
