Welcome bonus:
For a limited time only, you can earn 100K Marriott bonus points for opening this card and spending $5,000 in 3 months.
The previous signup bonus on this card when it was the Marriott Premier Plus Consumer Card was 75K points for speding $3,000 in 3 months.
Annual fee:
There is a $95 annual fee, though the signup bonus and annual anniversary nights are worth well more than that.
Welcome bonus terms:
- You won’t get the welcome bonus on this card if:
- You got a bonus on a Chase Marriott consumer card in the past 24 months.
- You have or had an active Starwood AMEX/Marriott Bonvoy AMEX Consumer card in the past 30 days.
- You were approved for any Starwood AMEX/Marriott Bonvoy AMEX card in the past 90 days
- You received a signup bonus for a Starwood Luxury/Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant AMEX or the Starwood Business/Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX card in the past 24 months.
5/24:
All Chase cards appear to be subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you are not likely to be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.
You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.comto check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.
Card earnings:
- 2 points per dollar everywhere
- 6 Marriott points per dollar at Marriott hotels.
- There are no foreign transaction fees.
Spend Threshold
You’ll need to spend $5,000 on this card within 3 months.
You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.87% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes.
My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.
Airline transfer bonus:
You can transfer increments of 60K Marriott points into 25K airline miles or 27.5K miles with United.
Marriott has dozens of valuable airline transfer partners, such as Aegean, Alaska, American, Lufthansa, Qantas, and dozens more.
Premium Internet Access:
Cardholders get free premium in-room internet at Marriott hotels.
Elite status:
This card offers Silver Elite status.
If you spend $35K/year you will earn Gold elite status.
You will also get 15 elite night credits for having the card. You can only get 15 night credits per year, regardless of how many different Marriott cards that you have.
Anniversary night:
You will receive a free night upon every card anniversary valid at hotels that cost up to 35K points. Anniversary nights expire 12 months after they post to your account.
You can view all Marriott hotels with their point requirements here.

Post is wrong, you can’t use your anniversary at many of those hotels.
Please specify which hotels you’re referring to.
I apologize, I misread some of the hotels there. In Dan we trust.
It seems the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami is a cat. 6
the key west hotels are all cat 6s now. some others also.
Can I get the bonus if I currently have a consumer amex spg turned bonvoy card? Have had the card for 5+ years.
See the welcome bonus terms rule number 2 in this post for what you would need to do.
So bottom line… If I want to get just one chase/hotel credit card, which one should I get?
Same question
These are post Bonvoy devaluation Marriott hotel point rates?
“The previous signup bonus on this card when it was the Marriott Premier Plus Consumer Card was 75K points for speding $3,000 in 3 months.”
I previously received 100k for spending $5000 in 3 months sign up bonus for the Marriott Premier Plus Consumer Card
That was before the previous signup bonus 🙂
Could you maybe make a post discussing which are these properties are the best bargains?
When does this offer end? Would it make sense for me to cancel my Amex SPG/Bonvoy and wait 30 days to apply?
I believe it ends 4/24
Wondering the same thing. Dan?
I don’t know the end date, but I’d be very surprised it if it ends before 4/24, which is when the AMEX promotion that began 2 weeks ago will end.
Are there any exclusions if I had the old Chase Biz card within the last 24 months?
No.
How does this card compare with the AMEX running the same promotion? If you were to get one, which one is better?
They’re fairly similar.
See this post for the differences:

It’s possible that you can 2BM and get them both, but I haven’t seen reports on that yet.
I currently have the Chase Trifecta (Sapphire, Freedom Unltd, Ink Business Preferred), thinking about getting a Marriot Card. Is there a preference in the AMEX Marriot vs. the Chase/Bonvy.
I currently have no AMEX Cards as I have been taking advantage of the Chase golden age.
Is it worth getting the AMEX just to have an AMEX card? Is the point valuation / points per dollar different?
Any advice helps.
Thanks!
Better for your credit score to have diff banks
I hate the collaboration between AMEX and Chase. Have people tried and actually been denied? How do they cross-reference? Is it by Bonvoy account #?
I’d guess by Bonvoy account number…
If this is a sample list, how big is the total list?
Thousands of hotels.
https://points-redemption.marriott.com/category-change
How much are these points valued at if they were to be redeemed for cash?
in your post about aegean miles back in december, when you write 90k business israel to the us does that include flying to la as well or just north america? thanks
read you rpost ona egean awards do aegean awrds 90k on united go to la or only to north america when traveling from tlv or from la to tlv?
Can American points be transferred to anything worthwhile?
Hi,
Thanks Dan,
Same question. If I had to choose one, which one would it be? This or the Amex?
(your link in the reply goes back to this post).
Thanks,
Just got approved for the Amex card and very excited abt it
are these ultimate rewards points?
Hi. if I close this card after a few years do the hotel points stay in my Marriott account or a closes together with the card, like all Chase UR points
They will stay.
If i am an Authorized user on the amex starwood card, would that prevent me from getting the signup bonus?
No.
is it chase points?
What does 15 elite nights mean?
Hi,
Sorry to nudge, trying to figure out the best card for me.
If I really only want to use one. Which would be better, the amex or the chase visa?
I will use the points primarily for flights and hotels.
Thank you so much Dan!!
Menachem
hi Dan, I applied to this card last week, and my wife applied today, we both got the same message, “we need some more information, well let me know”. we both didn’t apply for any Chase cards for more than a year, and have BH outstanding credit, how to proceed?
do i get the anniversary night the first year?
Any more hotel in new york besides the 2 you mentioned
Approvd in 12 seconds. $5K a little steep in 90 days but we’ll make it work. I’m hoping I can leverage this for Sheraton Lounge access for 6 night stay in June….
If my wife and I both get the cards are we able to merge the points into one account?
Yes, tell them they have to provide this, or they will hear from Grandpa Danny.
Thanks for the detailed post. Are there any hotels where free night award is redeemable for a bedroom suite? Like something that can work with kids?
Do any hotels in Israel work for the anniversary night?
