Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.

My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.

can we transfer these points to airlines ?
The only hotel points that transfer into airline miles at a worthwhile ratio is Marriott.
With IHG for example it would be 10K:2K. With Hilton it’s even worse.
Is the welcome bonus paid as 120k Ultimate Rewards points?
Points are IHG Reward Points
Meh. The Ihg select was great when I could get an anniversary night each year any property I wanted for just $49 and got top spire elite status . I never spent a dime on the card though because the points have horrible value. Why would I pay $89 now for a limited free night now. The 4th night free is enticing but 70k for an intercontinental (New York) is equivalent to a Westin which can be had for 45k Marriott points and that cc earns 2-3 points per dollar on all purchases. I won’t be signing up for it.
If you are only looking to stay at top tier hotels then I understand your view. I just stayed (Valentines Day to Presidents Day) in New Orleans on Bourbon St in Crowne Plaza (great location – French Quarter) in a nice Suite for 45k pts./nt + a reward night from old anniversary rules. Suites were $500-$600/nt.
How many point can be transferred to a spouse per year?
I’m holding on to the old card ($49/yr is still worth it even with the free night category limit). I don’t think I can apply for this one, right?
“You can get the bonus even if you have the IHG Select card”
Any idea till when the promo goes ?
Nope.
I just confirmed via Chase secure message that the 120k signup bonus is valid to May 2, 2019.
I just signed up for the Premier card this month for the 80K deal. Do you think it’s possible to secure message Chase and ask to be bumped up to these terms — and get the extra 40K with $5,000 spend?
Odds are good, go SM them.
any idea when this deal will end?
Nope.
When you write “Cardholders will get reimbursed for Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check charges every 4 years.”
Or
On the Chase United Explorer card “Cardholders get Global Entry/Pre-Check for free.”
You mean either or, correct? Not both?
Global Entry includes Pre-Check for free.
I believe the Boston Brookline location is closed.
I’m in Israel currently and have a Chase Sapphire Preferred. I only gain about 25k points a year on it (don’t make out major on the 2 pt bonus). I currently can go on vacation with the 75k points i have (from one year of spending+sign up bonus). Now i’m planning for next year, and am looking to get a new card with sign up bonus that will allow me to go on vacation again next year on points. It also needs to have no foreign action fee. Do you recommend the IHG or the Bonvoy or something else? THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE TO ALL
I currently have the previous ihg card that expired last year which is called the ihg select card. I called chase to inquire about applying for this card and they said I cannot since I opened the previous card within the last 24 months.
do they typically give any heads up before deals like this expire?
Sorry Malka
Does anyone know, regarding booking 3 nights to get the 4th night free: Do you need to have enough points for the 4th night in your account when booking, even though it will be credited. I’m getting mixed reports from phone representatives.
anyone now the answer if you need enough points to get the the 4th night free on your account?and i found that even though chase shut me down over a year ago i still have plat staues with ihg and a couple of reps told me that i have it for life! does that make sense?
Is the iHG premier reward club card better than the marriot bonvoy card?
What does this message usually mean?
“We have received your request for a Chase credit card. We’ll let you know our decision as soon as possible”
Call in reconciliation see if you can overturn the decision
@Miriam; I got the same message and just received my card yesterday. They generally like to tell you right away if your application was declined.
I’m not so familiar with the ihg program and hotels. I try to stay with one chain as much as possible to keep highest status. Been with Marriott/spg for a long time. Do you like ihg better? My main places we go:
Hong Kong, China, Aruba, Mexico. What is your opinion. Stay w Marriott or switch to ihg?
Can you combine these chase points with a even 1 to 1 point transfer with the chase saphire reserve points?
Nope
how do you pay electricity without a fee? which supplier do you use?
can i transferred the IHG POINTS to united the same as chase sapphire?
No!!
In my spouse account did the bonus point deal. But in my name, want to apply the Chase IHG card. At some point, can we combine the points?
i already have an ihg account. when applying for my spouse, they give an option to put in existing account number, can i put in mine?
I need a card that doesn’t have international spending fees, like in Israel. Is this the right card?
Are the points geared mainly for hotels? What value would the 120 K points have toward airfare?
I believe you can’t use them toward airfare, but even if you could it would not be recommended
Dan how does this compare to the Sapphire ? If I am signing up for one card today which one would suggests .
if I am an authorized card user on some else’s credit car, can I still sign up for the same credit card and receive the signup bonus?
specifically, my wife is an authorized user on my chase card, can she sign up for the same card as the primary card holder and receive the signup bonus.
