Limited time signup bonus:
For a limited time, Chase is offering 140,000 points for signing up for the Chase IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card and spending $3,000 within 3 months.
Comparison to previous signup bonus:
This IHG Premier card normally offers 80K signup points for spending $2,000. The previous limited time offer was for 125K points for spending $3,000.
Annual fee:
There is a $89 annual fee.
Welcome bonus terms:
You can receive the bonus on this card if you haven’t received a bonus on the IHG Premier card in the past 24 months and don’t currently have an IHG Premier card.
You can get the bonus even if you have the IHG Select card (The Select card was discontinued last April) or received the bonus on that card in the past 24 months. Having both cards means you’ll get 2 annual anniversary nights and you’ll be able to stack unique award discounts that both cards offer as explained below.
5/24:
All Chase cards appear to be subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you are not likely to be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.
You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.com to check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.
Cell Phone Insurance
Pay your monthly bill on your card and you can get up to $800 per claim and $1,000 per year in cell phone protection against covered theft or damage for all phones on your plan. Maximum of 2 claims in a 12 month period with a $50 deductible per claim.
Elite status for all cardholders:
Having this card gives you Platinum elite status, which gives free internet, 50% bonus points, upgrades, welcome amenity, late checkout, and more.
Non-expiring points:
Cardmembers IHG points will not expire for as long as they remain a cardholder.
4th award night free:
When cardholders book an award stay, every 4th night will be free!
That means a 4 night PointsBreak hotel stay will start at just 15K points or 3,750 points per night!
If you have both the discontinued IHG Select card and the IHG Premier card you’ll get every 4th award night free AND a 10% rebate on award nights! That means a 4 night PointsBreaks hotel stay will start at just 13.5K points or 3,375 points per night!
Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check:
Cardholders will get reimbursed for Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check charges every 4 years. Those programs make flying so much easier!
Card earnings:
You’ll earn 25 points per dollar, which consists of 10 points per dollar on the card, 10 points per dollar from IHG for the stay, and 5 bonus points per dollar from IHG for being a Platinum elite member, which is automatic for cardholders. Bookings must be made directly on IHG.com.
You’ll earn 2 points per dollar on dining, gas stations, and restaurants, and 1 point per dollar everywhere else.
There are no foreign transaction fees.
Spend Threshold:
You’ll need to spend $3,000 on this card within 3 months to receive the bonus.
You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.87% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes.
My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.
Annual free night:
Update: IHG now offers dynamic pricing in the US, in general most of the hotels below are still valid with anniversary nights. Many additional hotels also work for anniversary night usage when they are bookable for up to 40K points!
This card comes with an annual anniversary night for hotels that cost up to 40,000 points. The night must be used within 12 months of when it’s awarded.

I signed up for this card when it was 125,000 do you believe they would match it?
They match offers if you applied within the past 90 days.
Then they won’t match for me… however I get 4 points per doller everywhere with that promotion vs this promo doesn’t.
You write that IHG is a great way to travel on the cheap.Are there any luxury IHG hotels as well for more points ?
If you spend over $5000 in the first year, the 125k +4x deal is considerably better.

So say someone would for some silly reason want to actually pay for Global Entry, this card’s annual fee is $11 less than Global Entry cost and will cover your cost of Global Entry.

I’m jealous of this offer and love this card. I get 4 nights at intercontinental century city (LA) for 50k a night but with the free night it’s 37.5k a night on avg. (plus with select I get 15k back)
Also an amazing indirect perk is to use the platinum status to match with Wyndham/Caesar for Atlantis deal.
will these points/ program take me in any way to high end 5 star hotel?
The Intercontinental line are 4.5 star hotels, though many are a bit dated.

There are some very nice Intercontinental properties in Asia. IC DaNang is not dated. Very much a premium property.

I found that they are worth 10000 points =2000 points for many airlines eg Jet Blue,.I called, takes 6-8 weeks to get into Jet blue, 28,000 trueblue points for $85.

What does last chance mean? Is today the last day?
IHG is saying last chance, that means if you want it, you should apply now before the offer drops back down.

As someone who has a number of hotel credit cards, I’m mixed about whether or not to go for this even with the high sign up bonus. I’m seeing that a lot of hotels are often blacked out, especially the higher end ones, like Intercontinental or Indigo. I’ve also heard that they’ll be discontinuing their Point Breaks program. Still can translate to some free nights, just debating if it’s worth the pull and using up a 5/24 opportunity.
Does anyone know how easy they are with suite upgrades if you have the status from the credit card?
