does the first ticket booked for the US companion ticket need to a specific fare class? or any ticket $250+ ?
@reb yid:
There are no fare class restrictions in the terms on my certificate.
There are some blackout dates however.
I buy 10¢ washers in home Depot 🙂
@Eli:
Lol, nice!
Self-checkout I’m assuming?
When USAirways and AA merge will there still be the same offers? (Like the 20000 round trip off peak to the carribean)
Hey Dan,
Any idea when Chase Freedom deal expires?
Also- Amex Gold Business is 75K as well!
Can I transfer Chase United Mileage plus points to Chase Sapphire or Ink Points?
@abraham:
That will probably go away when they merge, but nothing has been announced yet.
@Justin:
Dunno, my guess would be within the next couple weeks, but it can be sooner or later.
@David:
No.
Credit card points transfer into airline miles, never vice versa.
How often can you apply got the Chase British Airways card. Closed account 10 months ago. Can I reapply?
Dan, what the reconsideration line phone # for Barclays US Air card?
@Fay:
When did you last get the bonus for that card?
@Dan’s the Man:
866-408-4064
Good luck!
Dan, any opinion on which of the 2 no annual fee Amex cards (Amex EveryDay or Blue Cash Preferred® Card) is the better one to have?
@Jeff:
Pretty simple, if you want airline miles the Everyday is a great card (though the Everyday Preferred should easily justify its fee based on the additional rewards).
If you don’t want to deal with miles then go for the cash card.
Dan…. if I’m signing up for a amex card and I do the thing with multiple browser’s does it work to make it one pull on all amex cards like spg and emex gold and amex everyday credit?
I was planning to apply and looks like the wait was worth it.
Just got the Barclay card last week. (1 for me, 1 for the wife. Tanother but got instant message that I had already applied recently, so just applied in wife’s name for another)
What are my odds for getting the Chase British air signature visa? (or just how long should I wait to apply)
Hey dan,
Thanks for the CC advice. “I just signed up for the Everyday card from Amex and was approved. Even though the card allows 99 AU’s, how many Authorized users can I make w/o it looking fishy/ getting questioned by Amex?
Also, I applied for the US Airways card,my wife was approved but I wasn’t. I don’t want to miss the awesome promo, how do u suggest I go about the reconsideration process for this card since it would b my first Barclays card?
@Dans the man #2: Will all do respect please come up with own screen name. Thanks you. Much appreciated!
any idea when the BA bonus is expiring?
@Dans the man #2:
Yes.
@Neyo:
Barclays pulls from Transunion and Chase pulls from Experian in most states, so one shouldn’t have any effect on the other.
@KeepSmiling123:
There’s no magic number of how many is OK.
Add them slowly to get ready for SBS 2016 😀
Recon tips can be found in the FAQs (see related links at the top of this post).
@high end hobo:
No clue, sorry.
1. was told companion cert will go away jan 2015 – correct?
2. any way to avoid AF for US Air without closing acct?
@ANA:
1. http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/57215
@ANA:
2. You can downgrade the card to a free card, ask for the fee to be waived, or close the account.
I got the Chase Freedom a few days before the bonus went up to $200. I just called Chase to get the offers matched and the guy said he’ll submit the request to marketing but he can’t guarantee anything. Is that what’s supposed to happen or should I call again?
@Eli:
With Chase you need to send a secure message from their site to get matched.
With Barclays you need to call and speak to a supervisor to get matched.
With AMEX…fuggedaboutit!
Dan I followed your instructions on spending the $5000 for my new chase Ink card by buying visa gift cards from staples and swiping them on Amazon local register. I just got this email from Amazon “Hello from Amazon Local Register.
This message is to inform you that we have blocked your Amazon Local Register account. A recent review indicates that payments were made to your business with credit cards under your control. Making payments to your own business is a violation of our user agreement.” Please let me know what I did wrong???
@Mendy:
Guess they’re getting smarter.
Try contacting them that the cards are not in your name?
@Dan: Dan is staples sharing the info as to who is buying the visa gift cards? Otherwise how would Amazon know that I swiped all 15 visa gift cards?
@Mendy:
Definitely not.
Amazon is guessing.
@Mendy:
I think you should fight it hard with Amazon.
I highly doubt they could prove anything.
Maybe make up a story that makes sense, to go along with it.
Dan, I just applied for United a month and half ago and for Freedom 2 weeks ago. Total Chase credit is 22.5 thousand. Should I risk with the British airways card?
Thanks for the fast response Dan! Also thank you for all you do with your site in helping people help themselves. I’ve only been 18 for 8 months and I just got the Freedom along with the Barclays US Airways and Arrival Plus cardsí ½.. Additionally I am now basically the credit card consultant in my yeshiva for all the guys who are too lazy to read your posts😉
So thanks again and keep up the great work!ðŸ‘
@Achshell:
Depends how good you are with Recon.
They should be able to shift credit lines around to get it approved if you want the card because you’re going to be flying on British Airways in the future…
@Eli:
Nice!
Dan,
I’m trying to recon with Chase to open Hyatt. All I have is a Sapphire with 6.5K CL.
They said they can’t move credit cause both cards are min CL 5K.
(I though the min CL is only to open it)
What could I do?
@Eli:
HUCA, HUCA, HUCA.
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/22047
If you still don’t get anywhere you can downgrade the Sapphire to a Freedom which more reps are willing to drop down to $500.
Thanks Dan, SBS is my main reason for AU’s, itgot me abt $1300 in goodies this yr 🙂
Will definitely try your recon tactics!
Called chase southwest to downgrade, they said you cant downgrade from southwest to a chase product. is that true?
would close stain credit report if have other long term cc on it? how much of an impact to close a short term cc? (1 yr)
Need better understanding of impact on credit report of close an account. (and how it would affect future cc applications, inc chase)
TIA
@KeepSmiling123:
Good luck!
@SW Q:
That is true.
Closing a card has very little affect on your score, read the FAQs linked to at the top of this post where it’s all spelled out.
dan regarding the freedom when pressing your link i dont see anywhere it shows 20k sign up bonus points
Just tried a 2bm to apply for amex blue sky and amex cash. The computer viewed it as a duplicate Application and I only got instant approval for one. What did I do wrong? I used dans link for the cash card.
@Dan’s the Man:
Lol
Dan can you PLEASE explain me for gods sake what an FICO score means? I’m just confused about that .on the FICO website they explain that every cradit beouro has it’s on FICO score ,but on the other hand I know there is only one general FICO score witch includes all beouro a scores together …anyways pls clearfiy that for me HUGE THANKS
@nathan:
Read…
“The 20K bonus is marketed as $200 cash back as points can be used for cash back”
@Spoke:
No big deal, just call back in 5 days.
@Duddy:
Read…http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/53213
@Eli:
There should be department stores that sell Visa gift cards. Look Sears and Kohl’s.
Or buy Amazon GCs or other GCs.

What do you mean by that ? Is bank miles fake miles ???
@Jake:
Yes, they are just cash back in disguise.
Read this post, http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/51820
Scroll down to “The beauty of miles over points or cash-back”
@Dan:
But if I transfare them to real airline then it’s real miles
Dan,funny question , how come us airways 40k miles are good for 2 domestic round trips, vs 50k ba avois are good for 5-6 trips ? There are both partners of one world ?
Can I get both bonuses with amex (gold and platinum) if I apply at the same time?also any other good card I can apply for at the same time without it affecting my credit score ( one credit pull)?
Dan, could you help me please with this? I seem to be having trouble with apps and Recon. Same answer consistently with each bank, each HUCA: “You’ve opened too many new credit accounts in the last few months and you only have just over 1 year of credit history. We just cannot give you another account until we’ve seen your activity on the other accounts for a while.”
All offers to shift CL or cancel other accounts are not even considered. It’s not the CL, they say, it’s the number of recent new accounts.
Is there any hope for me to get an approval? Should I bother with HUCA?
Dan I just got approved for Amex busniess gold ,can you send me a link of the tricks how I can easylly spend them on Visa cards?
Dan ,is it ok to add more then once your own name as an AU on Amex ?
I did it once ,can I do it multi times ?
2. How can I add AU without social ? thay do ask the last four digits of your social by activating the cards
What does Amex Everyday generally offer as a bonus (that makes this deal expiring)?
@Dan: Fay – Got card and spent and cashed out miles and closed accounts (had 2, myself and spouse) in Dec 2013 and Jan 2014. Can we reapply for sign on bonus? (PS – Am hopelessly addicted to your blog. Dreaming of taking family to E Yisroel with this fun, iyH).
@Jake:
Let me know when you’re able to transfer Capital One or Barclay’s points into airline miles.
@Mike:
Every program has their own rates.
With BA a LGA-CLE round trip is 9K while JFK-LAX is 25k roundtrip (or more with a connection).
With US they will all be 20K.
@raf:
YMMV
@Welder:
HUCA or take a break for a few months.
@David:
Try the search box?
@Yitzchuk:
1. Yes.
2. No need to activate AUs.
@Amusch:
The added bonus is the free Prime membership.
@Anonymous:
Officially 24 months from last bonus though people have reported less than that…so YMMV.
Thanks Dan. I appreciate your advice.
@Dan:
You right I meant ultimate rewards an Amex points
@Dan:
I understand dan,but aren’t I’m using the same program for ba an us airways as they are both in one club “one world “?
I tried to recon at barklay, they told me becuse i opend to many cards in the past 12 months its not pay to recon becuse most likely i wont get approved. What do u advise me to do?
Thanks dan for evreythink! (Sorry for spelling mistakes, im from willy😄)
@Mike:
Dono how to search it 😥
What are all those YMMV referring too?

have BA/ DL AMEX/ US AIR, AA, Freedom and ink.
Is GC ok for car insurance? or better to have a record?
2. which is better to post miles on, in general. ink or BA? Which points are better to have?
Read your response, thank you.
Adverse on chase willing to open new cards in the future?

Thank you
Whats ymmv?
@Mike:
Oy.
Do we have a meturgeman in the house?
@$$$:
HUCA?
@Omg:
@I’m with RAF:
Google is usually a good place to do basic research…
@Car Insurance:
All depends on your usage patterns, no easy answer there.
@SW Q:
I wouldn’t worry about it.
Either.
Can I get more than 1 year Prime if I get a few of the credit cards that offer it? I already have Prime (which I paid for, darn it 😉 )
@Rachel:
You get a code, so I don’t see why not.
whats the best way to get rid of Marriott rewards aa miles and us airways miles
if i wanna make a 3bm on Barclaycard which 3 di you suggest (or you dont at all
@Dan:
He wrote: Can I get both bonuses with amex (gold and platinum) if I apply at the same time?also any other good card I can apply for at the same time without it affecting my credit score ( one credit pull)?
How does YMMV (your miles may vary) answer that?
i heard from a mortgage broker that maxed out cc cl can limit you from getting a mortgage (they require you to close cc) is that true and if so how do you do that without hurting your credit
amex and chase take inquries from experian?
@ Dan ive called recon mltple times all saying same thing that app was declined bec have the card, downgraded the card and was told again after calling recon that got offer once so they cant approve my app… Should i cancel acnnt now and then re-apply a new app or call recon about old app? will they even let me submit a new app within 30 days of prev gttng denied? Reference to Barclay card…
@moses:
Travel.
@jacob:
Arrival is a good card if you want cash back.
@I’m with RAF:
Some people have gotten the points that way, others have not, hence YMMV.
Other good cards include the ones in this post and Starwood, http://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards
@important question:
Don’t max out your CCs.
@amex fan:
It depends on the state.
In NY/NJ that is true in most cases but that’s also a YMMV situation.
@ dan on a prev post u asked me to report back so this is what happened @ Dan ive called recon mltple times all saying same thing that app was declined bec have the card, downgraded the card and was told again after calling recon that got offer once so they cant approve my app… Should i cancel acnnt now and then re-apply a new app or call recon about old app? will they even let me submit a new app within 30 days of prev gttng denied?
Hello Dan,
Thanks for all your amazing posts. If I were to get the US airways premier world mastercard, would I be able to use the points on my spouse as well?
I applied (got approved) for the US airways world mastercard on thursday, is it a bad idea to apply for the chase freedom as well
( i only have discover it, and the us mastercard currently)
will that be bad for my rating to have to pulls in a week (my fico went dont today from 774 to 750 probably because of the new card)
thanks
@Chuck:
You can try, YMMV.
@Jason:
Yes.
@hf:
Chase and Barclays pulls from different places, no worries at all.
can I transfer my US airway miles (that I am about to get when my new card comes) to my british airway account? Thanks
I already have a Freedom card. Would they approve me for another one?
can the us airways miles be transferred from one account to another?
i’m an additional on a good amex cc for exactly 6 months now,but I don’t have any other cc or bills on my name,should I even try to apply for the us airways card and chase freedom chase british airways,or I should just start with a store card like gap??
I can’t believe it. I applied and got approved for the United card yesterday. Today I was going to do it for my wife and it says no longer available!
@SB:
No.
@Yaakov:
Unlikely.
@Beginner:
YMMV.
No way to know unless you try.
@Mutty:
Try another browser and/or incognito.
USairways dead?
seems not, but your link is dead
@Dan, I have hard time to use BA avios points for flights from west coast to maui, and from dallas to maui. Can you give a blog to show how to use avios points for maui vacation.
