Citi ThankYou points can no longer be transferred to American, but Citi continues to add hotel transfer options.
Last month Citi added the ability to instantly transfer points to Choice Privileges at a 1K:2K ratio if you have a card like Citi Premier® Card.
And now Citi is adding the ability to instantly transfer points to Wyndham Rewards at a 1K:1K ratio if you have a card like Citi Premier® Card.
Those aren’t the most valuable hotel programs out there, but there can still be times where it will be worthwhile to transfer points to those programs on demand.
Wyndham hotels can either cost 7.5K, 15K, or 30K points per night. There are several options in Israel for 15K points, though you may need to call to book with points.
A better value that Wyndham hotels can be Vacasa home rentals, which cost 15K Wyndham points per bedroom per night. You can email triprewards.fulfillment@wyndham.com or call 506-646-2943 to book that with Wyndham points. You can then transfer points instantly from Citi to Wyndham to book a vacation rental.
Choice Hotels can have better value than Wyndham hotels thanks to the 1:2 transfer ratio from Citi. The chain is particularly strong in Scandinavia, though you can find good values around the world. In Svalbard, one of the most unique places I’ve been to, you can stay at the Funken Lodge for 12K points instead of paying $270 per night. That’s just 6K Citi points at a value of 4.5 cents per point.
Citi mileage transfer partners now include:
- Aeromexico (Skyteam): 1K:1K
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue (Skyteam): 1K:1K
- Avianca Lifemiles (Star Alliance): 1K:1K
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (OneWorld): 1K:1K
- Emirates: 1K:1K
- Etihad: 1K:1K
- EVA (Star Alliance): 1K:1K
- Garuda Indonesia (Skyteam): 1K:1K
- Intermiles: 1K:1K
- JetBlue: 1K:1K
- Malaysia (OneWorld): 1K:1K
- Qantas (OneWorld): 1K:1K
- Qatar (OneWorld): 1K:1K
- Singapore (Star Alliance): 1K:1K
- Thai (Star Alliance): 1K:1K
- Turkish (Star Alliance): 1K:1K
- Virgin Atlantic: 1K:1K
- Choice Privileges: 1K:2K
- Wyndham: 1K:1K
It’s always good to see programs working to add more value with new partners. Now let’s hope that transfers to American returns in the future!

thank you for the post, is there any value using preferred hotels when using choice points?
I have found that on many occasions in the cheaper end hotels, in which I include Wyndham and Choice, better value is often got by using points to defray the cost of a paid stay. This is even more the case with Chase Sapphire points.
