Bank branded lounges have become a required perk for high-end credit cards. AMEX started their own lounge network when American, Continental, and USAirways stopped allowing Platinum cardholders to access their lounges. Other banks are now trying to catch up with them.
Chase will open their 2nd full service domestic club, with the opening of the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at LaGuardia Airport.
That comes after the opening of a Sapphire Lounge in Boston, Hong Kong, and a Sapphire Terrace in Austin.
The expansive 21,800 square foot club will be located in LaGuardia’s Terminal B, post-security on the 4th floor, with its entrance next to the AMEX Centurion lounge. It will be open daily from 4:30am-9:30pm. Airlines serving Terminal B include Air Canada, American, JetBlue, Southwest, and United.
The Sapphire Lounge JFK opens on 1/23 and is a joint offering with Etihad Airways, which previously operated the lounge before COVID, but will now reopen and offer the signature Chase Sapphire experience. This is the first Sapphire lounge not custom built by Chase. That will be located in Terminal 4 post-security on Level 4, above Gate A2, also near that airport’s AMEX Centurion lounge. Terminal 4 airlines include Delta, El Al, Aeromexico, Air Europa, Air India, Avianca, China Airlines, Copa, Emirates, Etihad, Hawaiian, KLM, LATAM, Singapore, Virgin Atlantic, Westjet, and more. More JFK lounge details will be revealed next week.
The LaGuardia lounge will feature a retro-inspired style game room equipped with a jukebox, pinball, shuffleboard and photobooth for complimentary use.
The lounge also includes a kids’ playroom and a nursing room.
Wellness rooms with complimentary treatments from Face Haus will be available. Visitors can choose from a variety of complimentary treatment options from an esthetician that can be booked onsite on a first-come first-served basis.
Freebies:
- Visitors can also request a complimentary Fly By Face Haus Skincare Travel Kit, even without getting a treatment.
- Chase Sapphire commissioned local artist, Eugenia Mello, to create custom, locally inspired Solgaard luggage tag for Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardmembers as a keepsake, while supplies last.
“First-rate” cocktails and mocktails, including the Sapphire Signature Cocktail, as well as made-to-order Joe Coffee barista beverages will be available at the bar.
“This expansive space features design details that draw inspiration from some of the world’s best designers including Corgan Architecture, and featured furniture from Cappellini, Poliform, Moroso, DePadova and more. The space is accented by hand-selected artwork from the JPMorgan Chase & Co. private art collection, including commissioned pieces from local artists, Aundre Larrow and Michelle Rick, who created a custom wallcovering depicting photography of local landmarks and people. The photos were taken specifically for this lounge.”
Also available are three Reserve Suites, which are private bookable rooms that can accommodate 4-8 travelers each. Each suite includes a personal bathroom and shower, suite attendant, and much more. You can book a suite at least 72 hours in advance and up to a year in advance on the Chase app in benefits and travel. They won’t come cheap, expect to spend $2,200-$3,000 for a few hours in these suites.
Access rules:
- Access is available within 3 hours of a departing flight, or for the duration of your connection. Access is not available upon arrival.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® and JPMorgan Reserve cardholders can access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want via their Priority Pass card with 2 guests at no charge. Additional guests cost $27 each and children under 2 are at no charge. Additional cardholders, which cost $75/year on those cards, can also access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want via their Priority Pass card with 2 guests at no charge and the same price for additional guests.

Additional cardholders, which are free, can also access the Chase Sapphire lounges as often as they want via their Priority Pass card with unlimited guests at no charge.

No access for chase private clients?
We urgently need either a Priority Pass, Amex Centurion, Chase or a Capital One lounge at Newark Airport….
EWR urgently needs a facelift and modernization of the entire airport to become a legitimate gateway to NYC!
Will they have kosher food?
Will existing cardholders need to renew their priority pass cards so its registered for this or no need?
Do we know what the timeline is on the PHL lounge?
I wish they would allow chase sapphire preferred passengers 1 or 2 visits a year.
That would make it to available. Lounge overcrowding is a major issue nowadays with the proliferation of travel cards.
I agree. Also they needed a few more perks like this to make the reserve a more luxurious and premium travel card.
@Dan can you please write an article sometime about amex black card and JP Morgan reserve just out of curiosity for us unprivileged people that are still waiting for an invite?

I know someone who has both cards.
The JP Morgan Reserve is basically an invite-only Sapphire Reserve with the United club access of a United Club card. It has the same fee as the Sapphire Reserve, which means if you can get the JP Morgan instead it’s 100% worthwhile.
The Centurion is basically a super-exclusive, super-expensive, invite-only Platinum card. Yeah, it has some benefits that Platinum doesn’t ($1K Saks credit, etc.), but they are only useful for a very specific subset of users, and don’t even begin to justify the fee. The earn rate is the same (or worse!!!!!) as the Platinum, and the “concierge” is basically useless nowadays (and apparently largely shared with the Platinum). The only major advantage for most is the 50% bump in redemption value. Essentially, it’s a card you carry just so you can whip it out and show everyone that you are stupid enough to waste $5K a year on a credit card. (Kind of like a Ferrari, which has a large ownership overlap with Centurion cards.)
The 50% bump can make the card pay for itself for heavy users. Note that only the business version has that.
As explained in the posts I linked to, JPM also has a hidden trade line.
You need to be cashing out 1 million points to make up the cost of the card. So, for the business card, you could maybe make a use case. Not really for the personal card.
Dan, I have priority pass through my Venture X.
Two Questions:
1- You wrote “other cards with Priority Pass will only be able to enter Sapphire lounges for free once per calendar year across the Sapphire lounge network. No free guests are included.” Does that mean my wife will not be able to enter with me? If yes, would making her an authorized user on my Venture X account give her a separate Priority Pass membership, thus allowing her to enter on her own?
2- Are children included in the “No free guests?”
1a. Not for free.
1b. Sure, you can add up to 5 free AUs to that card and each would get Priority Pass.
2. Correct, unless under 2.
i believe only 4 authorized users are allowed on the venture x
Thanks Dan!
Hey Dan,
I am a priority pass holder through venture x. I am also a saphire reserve cardholder but i never enrolled in priority pass through chase because I already had it. do I have to reenroll through chase or just show my reserve card along with my PP?
You need to enroll through Chase.
Do I have to cancel my current PP or I can just reenroll through chase?
You can have multiple PP memberships.
So they require a ticket to enter?
do you need the physical PP card?
Does it pay to still go if flight is from different terminal?
Depends on who you are with, how far away, how much time you have, etc.
There is a shomer shabbos guy working in the LGA lounge, but not much doing for kosher food.
So if I add my 3 year old as an authorized user to my venture X account he can get his own priority pass and then join me in the lounge?
I tried this but ran into a problem when trying to sign up my daughter for PP. You need to be at least 18 year of old to sign up for PP.
Heading to JFK terminal 4 – Delta this week. Which should I try – Delta Skyclub or Chase Sapphire lounge? Kosher snack options would be a key factor!
What did you end up doing and did Sapphire lounge have any kosher food or cocktails? Re Cocktails, does anyone know what would be kosher to order? I’m not from USA, so a bit clueless the way kashrut and alcohol works here. thanks.
I ended up going to the Delta Skyclub not the Sapphire lounge. I asked at the food counter there and was able to get kosher wrapped bagels, cream cheese, and butter (not cholov yisroel) but that’s about it. I have heard that they have frozen Airline meals but I didn’t ask for it.
Very nice. thanks for the update.
