Update: Chase has clarified with me that:
- The 3 month extension applies to accounts that were actually approved in January, February, or March.
- The extension does not currently apply to card offers that had a 2 tier offer (such as Southwest and United). The extension applies to the first tier only, but Chase is looking into adding the extension to the 2nd tier as well.
- Chase is looking into adding this offer for April applications. However you can always call Chase to request an extension on your account.
Chase has confirmed to me that everyone who applied for any Chase consumer or business card in January, February, or March will have an additional 3 months to meet their spend threshold.
The extension is automatic, so there is no need to call or message Chase to request it. Chase is going to start informing customers of the extension starting tomorrow.
That’s not quite as generous as the December-May window provided by AMEX, but is a generous gesture nonetheless!
Did you apply for a Chase card in Q1? Will this help you meet the spending threshold?

Do you think this will be the case for cards applied for in April?
Nothing announced.
I applied for this card in April, and called them up,and they extended it on the spot.
How about the an extension for the new Ink preferred, 15k.. yikes?
Both bus and personal?
Yes.
Excellent news! Thanks for sharing and checking Dan!
What about april? Just applied for a preffered?
Nothing announced.
Ouch… Now they saying it after I murdered my self to finish spending and almost done.
Exactly the way I feel 🙂
Business cards too ?
Yes.
Hi. Is this for the business cards as well?
Yes.
Does this also extend the 6 month window to spend 10k on the United Explorer 40k+25k offer from Jan, or only to the 3-month spend requirements?
I’ll ask.
Thank you.
Thanks. I’m curious on this as well. Have a southwest card which is tiered, 40,000 for $1K in 3 months and 35,000 for another $4K in first 6 months. Would be happy if second tier is extended too.
See post update.
Does this apply to business cards as well?
Is it worth calling and asking if I applied in April?
Just did,and they extended!
Nice!
Co-branded chase cards such as United Explorer included?
All cards.
Applied for the ink business preferred (15k spend) on 3/31. Was going to be tough, but this will make it easy.
is it too late to do the ink preferred match for 100k? I applied for the 80k ink preferred at the end of February for 5k min spending. If Ink preferred is included for the 3 months extension for the minimum spending, could I match to the 100k with 10k spending ?
They also being more generous about approvals… i was initially declined due to being over 5/24 but called recon because 3 of them were au…they asked for address verification and i sent it in but never called back to finish application but then they just approved me without me having to chase them
My account still says I have until 4-25. Will they update it on the Chase app or will it just be assumed.
What will happen if I applied on March 31st but only got approved during April
The language they used is that it goes by the application date, but I’ll follow up with them to confirm.
They’re now clarifying you had to get approved in March. However you can call to request an extension.
the app still says the original date. its getting me a little a nervous, like they can back out whenever they want and deny the whole thing.
No, this is official.
i applied end of Dec will they extend?
Not automatically, but you can call and ask.
Ink spending for new card bonus extended as well? Chase sent email ? Where does it say so ?
Thanks for posting.
It will help me. Applied for a card Jan 24 and due to all that’s going on have not yet completely met the spending requirements. Thia will certainly make it easier for me.
Any word on Capital One?
Such a lucrative bonus, buy with my business shut down temporarily, I’ll need more time to meet the spend.
Call them?
Got approved for the ink preferred on 3/31 (last day for blogging reimbursement). Will the additional 3 months show in the “bonus meter”? It currently shows I have until 7/1 to complete 15k.
Not sure, but you’re good to go.
Are you positive? I have the same exact dates as Nate and was told via secure message that my date remains 7/1 to complete 15k spend.
Try calling.
Yup, said I have three month extension and it was automatically notated on my account. Must have had a lazy rep doing the secure messaging. Thanks Dan
Same dates and card for me, and no email yet either.
I sent secure message last week and they wouldn’t extend but two weeks so yesterday I did a spend and now almost there.
In your update, what do you mean by “applies to accounts that were actually approved”? I applied on March 17 but just got the card in the mail today. I don’t exactly know when I was “actually” approved. Does that mean extension will apply to me or no?
Thanks!
Dan, I applied for Chase BUsiness preferred Ink card in December and they are refusing to give me an extension. It was the Chase Business preferred with the 80,000 bonus after spending 5k in 3 months. It took me 4 months . Any suggestions for how to proceed.
Thanks,
Esti
Got the email yesterday. Tremendously helpful for me!
Just got an email from Alaska airlines. Extending extra 90 days to reach sign up bonus
Nice, can you forward it to me?

what about those who opened bank accounts with a promotional offer of $300/500 after keeping a $1500/2500 balance for 60 days?
Approved March 31st for Ink Business Preferred, sent secure message to confirm even though Dan said not needed… and received reply that I only have until June 30th (3 months) to spend 15k. What gives?
Dan was right. I called and they said the extension is on my account.
Did they add an extension for 2nd tier yet? I have the United card and can use it
