Limited Time Signup bonus:
Capital One has just launched a limited time offer for its Capital One Spark Cash Plus. The expiration date of this offer is unknown.
- You will earn $1,500 bonus cash back after spending $20,000 in the first 3 months.
-
- As you earn at least 2% back everywhere, that’s a total of $1,900 cash back after spending $20,000.
-
- You will earn another $1,500 bonus cash back after spending another $80,000, for a total of $100,000 in the first 6 months.
- As you earn at least 2 points per dollar spent, that’s a total of $5,000 cash back points after spending $100,000.
That’s a big spending requirement, but could be worthwhile if you’re looking for a business charge card.
That’s a significantly better offer than the previous limited time offer of $1,200 cash back for spending $30,000 in 3 months.
You can earn this bonus even if you have had this card previously. You can get approved for this even if you recently were approved for the consumer Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Rewards Credit Card, but you can’t get approved if you have the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Business Card.
If you have a Capital One Venture Rewards Credit CardOne Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Rewards Credit Card, or Capital One Spark Miles for Business for Business card, you can transfer cash back into miles at $1 cash back to 100 miles ratio. That means you can convert the $5,000 cash back into 500,000 miles, where they can be much more valuable!
You can even transfer rewards to any other cardholder!
Annual fee:
$150. Additional user cards are free.
Annual fee will be refunded if you spend $150,000 in a cardmembership year.
Credit reporting:
Unlike most other Capital One cards, this card does not report spending on your personal credit report, so a high utilization rate of your credit line will not hurt your credit score.
It also means that it won’t hurt your Chase 5/24 count.
Charge Card with no preset spend limit:
This is a charge card has no preset spend limit. It is a pay in full card with no APR as your balance is due in full monthly.
It can be easier to make big purchases with this card than with traditional credit cards that have a hard credit limit.
Card earnings:
- 2% cash back everywhere.
- 5% cash back on hotels and rental cards booked via Capital One Travel.
- No foreign transaction fees.
Excellent MLB Redemptions
Capital One cardholders have access to exclusive tickets to special events such as All-Star Week, the MLB Postseason, and the World Series presented by Capital One.
Plus, you can redeem just $40 cash back for ultra-premium MLB seats in every ballpark, for every game. There are 4 tickets available for every game at that rate. The best time to buy is when each month’s games go live, which are posted here.
I have gone to games with amazing seats in NYC, DC, LA, Anaheim, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Pittsburgh, San Diego, and San Francisco, and hope to go to many more to complete my 30 ballpark tour using my Capital One points at an excellent value!
Getting $200 seats for $40 is a great deal!
Card benefits:
- Virtual card numbers for making online payments without your card number.
- Price protection for when items go down in price, up to $500/item and $2,500 per year within 60 days of purchase!

You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.82% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes. If you paid $98,213 in taxes you would pay $1,787 in fees and earn $5,000 cash back!
See this post for more ideas on meeting a credit card spend threshold, including property taxes, local income taxes, and other bills via Paypal with no fees.
Airline and hotel transfer partners:

- Air Canada awards start at just 6K miles on United, making for excellent bargains!
- Avianca Lifemiles awards start at just 6.5K miles on United. - Turkish Airlines has an incredibly generous award chart, with bargains on United like domestic awards, including Hawaii, costing just 7.5K miles in coach or 12.5K miles in business class! Tickets to Israel cost just 32K miles in coach or 47K miles in business class!

- And endless other possibilities!
Dan’s Quick Thoughts:
This is quite a lucrative signup bonus, if you can meet the minimum spending requirements.
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Business Card also has a similar signup bonus, but you can only have 1 of these cards.
Personally, I prefer the consumer Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Business Card as those can be effectively free after the travel credits, but if you just want cash back with the option of later converting to miles, this is a great card to have! Plus, if you do spend $150K in a calendar year, your annual fee will be refunded.
Will you signup for the Capital One Spark Cash Plus?

If you were to get this card, can you later apply for one of the cards that allow you to turn the cash back into points ? Or do you need one of those cards beforehand, in order to convert it?
You can do it at any point in the future. You can also transfer to anyone else who has a miles card.
the biggest issue with this card is regardless of your Credit Score you need to build your spending habits with them as “their computer” decides to limit you to 5k monthly although it is a charge card and then you must make a payment in order to clear that credit block and then again. First year i spent about 500k. second year i shifted spending towards other cards i got “punished” to this new limit that reflects my new spending patter 5K not a penny over.
The next issue is there is no customer service.
Pretty tight situation.
Dont get me wrong i have 3 cards, it is a great product however not easy to handle.
Based on what you’re saying — they limit you to 5k/mo for at least 2 mo, it will be more difficult to meet the 20k/80k thresholds.
No, he said that happened after a 2nd year of not using the card.
I know you can get if you had this card Previously.
But can you get this card if you currently HAVE this card ?
asking the same, want to know if to apply for this or for the other but other has 400 annual fee
The other has a $395 annual fee and $400+ in annual travel credits.
I don’t think Capital One will approve for 2 of the same card, but correct me if I’m wrong.
Dan,
How’s reconsideration with them?
They don’t seem cooperative.
Rep said he would send it to the back-end credit team for reconsideration. He basically just ran the application again and I got an instant email that it was denied again. Nothing like Chase where I have a perfect record for 10’s of cards! Disappointing
Two business with two different EIN can be approved for this card under one owner ?
Would love to know same..
I know you have discussed about applying for a business card, using your own name and clicking on Sole Proprietorship. But what do you do about the business yearly revenue – if it’s not exactly a business, but a small side hussle? Is it ok to put in a random number, and if so what is the lowest $ amount that can be input and you still get approved, but without have a spending threshold?
Does this card arrive on the next day? Big purchase planned but can’t wait…..
Any reason why i would get accepted for the card but don’t get the signup bonus?
I cant see my bonus offer on my account and the rep claims i don’t have one.
(I had the venture business and canceled it right before opening the spark)
If you’re approved you’ll get the bonus.

I spoke to cap1 and they said even if I have the venture x business as long I dont have a spark I can still get the SUB
Rule 3.

Phone reps are not firsthand?
The rule is literally don’t rely on phone reps.
I just got this card with the plan to pay in advance for my daughter’s seminary next year. But it won’t let me make any purchases above $5000; it says it has to adjust to my spending habits. My plan was to pay for seminary in full (they give a discount if you do that) using this card. Any workarounds?
I’m sure you can have the seminary make multiple $5k charges in advance for a discount.
