Table of Contents
Signup bonus:
Capital One has just launched a new offer for its Capital One Spark Cash Plus. The expiration date of this offer is unknown.
- You will earn $2,000 bonus cash back after spending $30,000 in the first 3 months.
- As you earn at least 2% back everywhere, that’s a total of $2,600 cash back after spending $30,000.
- You will earn another $2,000 bonus cash back for every $500K of spending in the first 12 months.
- As you earn at least 2 points per dollar spent, that’s an additional $12,000 cash back for every $500,000 spent. After your first $500,000 spent you would have a total of $14,000 cash back with the card’s signup bonus.
That’s a big spending requirement, but could be worthwhile if you’re looking for a business charge card.
That’s a significantly better offer than the previous offer of $1,200 cash back for spending $30,000 in 3 months.
You can earn this bonus even if you have had this card previously. You can get approved for this even if you recently were approved for the consumer Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, but you can’t get approved if you have the Capital One Venture X Business Card.
If you have a Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, or Capital One Spark Miles for Business card, you can transfer cash back into miles at $1 cash back to 100 miles ratio. That means you can convert the $2,600 cash back into 260,000 miles, where they can be much more valuable!
You can even transfer rewards to any other cardholder!
Annual fee:
$150. Additional user cards are free.
Annual fee will be refunded if you spend $150,000 in a cardmembership year.
Credit reporting:
Unlike most other Capital One cards, this card does not report spending on your personal credit report, so a high utilization rate of your credit line will not hurt your credit score.
It also means that it won’t hurt your Chase 5/24 count.
Charge Card with no preset spend limit:
This is a charge card has no preset spend limit. It is a pay in full card with no APR as your balance is due in full monthly.
It can be easier to make big purchases with this card than with traditional credit cards that have a hard credit limit.
Card earnings:
- 2% cash back everywhere.
- 5% cash back on hotels and rental cards booked via Capital One Travel.
- No foreign transaction fees.
Excellent MLB Redemptions
Capital One cardholders have access to exclusive tickets to special events such as All-Star Week, the MLB Postseason, and the World Series presented by Capital One.
Plus, you can redeem just $40 cash back for ultra-premium MLB seats in every ballpark, for every game. There are 4 tickets available for every game at that rate. The best time to buy is when each month’s games go live, which are posted here.
I have gone to games with amazing seats in NYC, DC, LA, Anaheim, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Pittsburgh, San Diego, and San Francisco, and hope to go to many more to complete my 30 ballpark tour using my Capital One points at an excellent value!
Getting $200 seats for $40 is a great deal!
Card benefits:
- Virtual card numbers for making online payments without your card number.
- Price protection for when items go down in price, up to $500/item and $2,500 per year within 60 days of purchase!
- Purchase protection for items damaged or stolen within 90 days, up to $10,000 per item.
- Rental car CDW insurance, primary coverage for rentals for business purposes.
- Extended warranty of 1 extra year, up to $10,000 per item.
- Lost Luggage Insurance, up to $3,000 per trip.
- Travel Accident Insurance, up to $250,000 per person.
Spend Threshold:
You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.82% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes. If you paid $29,464 in taxes you would pay $536 in fees and earn $2,600 cash back!
Airline and hotel transfer partners:
If you have a Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, or Capital One Spark Miles for Business card, you can transfer cash back into miles at $1 cash back to 100 miles ratio. That means you can convert the $5,000 cash back into 500,000 miles, where they can be much more valuable!
You can also transfer cash back or miles to any Capital One cardholder!
You can transfer points from Capital One into these programs at the following ratios:
- Aer Lingus (1:1 via BA, No alliance)
- Aeromexico (1:1, SkyTeam)

- Accor Hotels (2:1)
- Choice Hotels (1:1)
- Hilton Hotels (1:1.5 via Virgin)
- Wyndham Hotels (1:1)
You can also combine miles between Capital One miles cards, transfer cash back into miles, and you can transfer miles to any Capital One cardholder!
A nice perk is that after the 1,000 mile minimum transfer, you only need to transfer points in increments of 100, meaning you have fewer leftover points compared to other bank transfers.
- Air Canada awards start at just 6K miles on United.
- Avianca Lifemiles awards start at just 6.5K miles on United. Or save up for the 194K miles you’ll need for a round-trip first class flight in First Class from the US to Tel Aviv on Lufthansa with access to their amazing first class terminal during your connection with a Porsche transfer to your plane.
- Turkish Airlines has a generous domestic award chart, with domestic travel on United, including Alaska and Hawaii, costing just 10K miles in coach or 15K miles in business class!
- 7.5K Virgin Atlantic miles is enough for a Delta short-haul flight.
- Flying Blue has award flights to Israel for 25K miles for adults or 18,750 miles for kids.
- 120K Aeroplan miles is enough for a round-trip business class award between North America and 2 European cities.
- With 90K Cathay Pacific Asia Miles miles you can book a round-trip business class award between North America and Europe.
- With 180K Qantas points you can fly round-trip in El Al business class between NYC and Tel Aviv with no fuel surcharges.
- With 102K Emirates miles you can fly in A380 Shower Class from JFK to Milan.
- With 163.5K Emirates miles you can fly in A380 Shower Class from JFK to Dubai.
- And endless other possibilities!
Dan’s Quick Thoughts:
This is a lucrative signup bonus, if you can meet the minimum spending requirements.
Personally, I prefer the consumer Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture X Business Card as those can be effectively free after the travel credits, but if you just want cash back with the option of later converting to miles, this is a great card to have! Plus, if you do spend $150K in a calendar year, your annual fee will be refunded.
Will you signup for the Capital One Spark Cash Plus?

Hey Dan, I have the cash spark plus as well as the VentureOne and I’ve been trying to transfer cash back from the spark over to miles on the Venture for over a week now and it hasn’t been working. I spoke to Capital One last week and they said it isn’t possible to transfer cashback into miles. I recall doing this last year to get some cheap baseball tickets but it seems like it may be discontinued (or I’m doing something wrong).
It’s doable. HUCA.
But you’re actually much better off doing MLB redemptions from this card.
$40 per ticket instead of 5,000 miles with Venture cards.
Great offer but I don’t think I can swing 30k in 3 months.
How can I get this card if I currently have consumer venture x and spark cash plus?
If I have this already can I get a second one?
Or should I cancell.
And if I cancell how long takes to apply?
do ppl that spend $30k in 3 months really try for bonuses?
From my experience at seminars and the like, the more people spend, the more consequential the rewards are and the more they care about them.
why not i have a lot of spending and if I can get some bonus why not
not everyone that buy 100k a month is rich!
I dont usually spend that much. but I save up tuition to pay at one time. So when bonuses like this come around its fantastic
Can you apply for a second one and get the bonus? (I currently have one)
Hi Dan, Any advice on getting this for those of us with a Venture X Business Card?
Should I close my current scp to get approved for this offer?
just got the card with the 1200 bonus !
What can i do now ?
I am an additional user on a Venture X Business, can I still get it?
Dan, this is good for property taxes but is there a way to find out my credit limit before applying? I don’t want to get approved for a lower credit limit than my property taxes since you can only use 1 card at checkout
There’s no hard limit as this is a charge card. You can request charge approvals before charging.
there is a limit , i tried to post 18k charge on the card and it was declined. So i had to call cust service and they told me how i can request a charge approval and i i have 4 attempts , so after 3 attempt i got 15k line and could not get anything extra after that.
Like I said, it’s not a set hard limit. It’s an adjustable soft limit that varies based on your spending.
I closed this card a few months ago. Curious if I can get this bonus again
I applied and got approved! How do I either disable cash advance limit or set it to $0 or $1? Does CapitalOne allow this?
Hi Dan, I don’t have any Capital One cards. Can you get this card than later product change to Venture X Business to use points earned as miles ?
Hi Dan, Is it possible to get the Spark Cash Plus and later product change it to Venture X Business ? If yes, will the points covert to miles.
@Dan any clarity on the following wording in the terms? “Existing or previous account holders may not be eligible for these bonuses” I closed my Spark Card a little over a year ago. What you think?
As long as you’re approved, you’ll get the bonus.
