Small Business Saturday Qualifiying Stores Map

-You will be able to register your American Express Cards at www.shopsmall.com at 12:00 A.M. MST (Mountain Standard Time) on 11/24/13 until 11:59 P.M. MST on 11/30/13, unless the registration limit is reached sooner.
-Registration is limited.
-Use your registered cards on 11/30/13 to spend $10 or more in a single in-store transaction at a qualifying small business that appears on the Small Business Saturday Map. Online transactions do not qualify.
-The Small Business Saturday Map will be available from 11/21/13-12/1/13.
-Card Member will receive a one-time $10 statement credit for that transaction from American Express within 90 days after 11/30/13.
-Consumer and small business cards are eligible. Corporate cards and prepaid Card products (other than American Express Serve) are not eligible.
-If the qualifying purchase is returned or cancelled, the statement credit may be reversed.
From past years’ experience this should still work with 3rd party AMEX cards like those from Citi, however if for whatever reason you do not get credit automatically getting it manually will be extremely difficult. With AMEX issued cards it’s easy to be credited manually.
This should also work with primary and secondary cards directly from AMEX, but not with secondary cards from 3rd party issuers like Citi. Of course each card must be registered separately but you are able to use the same email address. An American Express card can have up to 99 additional users though people have reported going through a financial review for adding too many additional cardholders to their account.

$10 bux…boooh!
BBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Sucks!
That sucks
Disappointing!!
Guess the fun ride is staying to slow down…
Sucks
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!
stupid, I have been signing up for additional cards for a while now and this does not payout for the spg membership.
dan, I thought u have with american express?!?! what happened?
Do they really feel this will get more businesses to accept AMEX?
Hope it does not get down to $5 next year 🙁
Bummer!
Where does it say $10? I don’t see it in on the Shop Small page.
@milechazzer: Is there an American Express statement credit offer for Card Members for this year’s Small Business Saturday?
Yes. American Express is offering Card Members the opportunity to get a one-time $10 statement credit when they register any eligible American Express® Card and use it on 11/30/13 to spend $10 or more in a single in-store transaction at a qualifying small business that appears on the Small Business Saturday Map.
I hope business let you divy up purchases to a few different cards (for examples buy a $50 gift card to the small business using 10 different AmEx cards).
DISAPOINTED
@ everyone.
Guys, it’s free money!!!
@Reuvenhunt:
And it should still be good on all of your primary and secondary cards.
Not as great as before, but nothing to sneeze at.
A little more effort and less $, but still free. I’ll take it. Just hope the stores I go to can take 10+ cards, haha.
$10 free dollars is still something i agree $25 is better ,but look at the bright side its not $0
If they made it $9.99, the Brooklyn stores like kol tuv probably wouldn’t let me take advantage:)
You make it sound like AMEX owes you something here…
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
does it work on a bluebird card?
@d: No.
An American Express card can have up to 99 additional users though people have reported going through a financial review for adding too many additional cardholders to their account. is it a safe to add like 5 additional users to all of my cards
Bunch of unimaginative ingrates.
Just add 2.5x as many AUs as you currently have.
Chalk the extra hassle up to “increased cost of chasing freebies” Get with the program.
(2nd line was a joke)
@dan- still pays to keep card opened and pay the fee?
Also if i have business and regular and i close down one will my points stay in my account?
Not worth it to get out of bed for.
what about american express jet blue cards?
Just a lesson… be happy with what you have when you have it
Quote from fine print: “Merchants in the following categories are also not eligible: …. charities, non-profits…”
https://freeads.americanexpress.com/merchant/faq
No tzedakas/yeshivas this year?
BTW, I totally agree with those that are happy with free money, even if it’s less than last year.
@mjd612 If your annual fee is $65, make sure to have at least 6 additional cards (AU) to compensate.
@WAM:
What Amex cards work? Is there a list?
Platinum? Blue sky?
When I try to add an AU on AXP SPG it says please call us so we can review the details of the AU. How can I get around this ?
Not worth the excitement of the past years and for 10 bucks I’m not going to make myself crazy, if I go out will do if not not
@WAM:
They said the same thing last year and didn’t enforce it, but they may change it this year.
You mean we actually have to get jobs now???
1. HOW MANY AUs IS SAFER? 2. WHICH CC CHARGE ANNUAL FEES FOR THE AUs? 3. is it worthwhile to space making AUs or all at once 4. MAJOR MT ON DAUGHTER !!!! TWO IS A TOTAL PARTY
dies this work on Amex Plum card?
It’s a huge let down. I was banking on buying gift cards for a year worth of groceries! I better go get a job now!
can AUs be children under 18?
all you people who have a lot of cards, are they all actually in different peoples’ names? Or can I order cards all in my and my husbands name? Are you allowed to order many caAnyone can clarify? rds all in the same name or does it have to be changed a little- though it will still be the same bday and ss??
Dan if i have 2 cards on the same statment will i get 2 X?
DO YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE SS NUMS of all ur au’s?
@FB:
If they have different numbers.
@yankel:
No, not over the phone.
Does a bloomingdales amex card qualify?
Does Macys Amex qualify?
Could anyone please let me know how many AU is safe to add to avoid a Financial Review…
SOMETHING EVERY BUSINESS SHOULD KNOW!!!
This year, unlike previous years, in order for a business to be part of the Small Business Saturday program – the business MUST register on Amex Shop Small website. If they don’t register then they will not be part of the program!
@WAM:
i understood that to mean that the organization cannot take advantage of the advertising available to small business users, not that the org. could not participate in program. Any thoughts on the matter?
Had no issue using a Fidelity Amex last year for this
Isnt registration supposed to be live now?!
Sorry. Starts MST! 2 hours behind EST.
@Yalili: No, read the post again.
It opened at 12 est. I registered my 43 cards by 1220
it is open for the past hour! i got conformations.
Sounds like most of you guys spent the whole year waiting for the $25 and the minuscule $10 is crushing your dreams. My heart goes out to all of you.
No, same sweet dreams, just 2.5X as many cards for amex to print out for me.
43 cards!!! Wow!! I have same amount as last year so for me this is a 60% reduction in benefit… 🙁
If I close the card after small business Saturday even before posting the $10 on to my acct will I still get the statement credit any idea?
registered 24 cards ? now , where do I use them ?
Registered my 12 cards….
Is there a phone # too where u could register? Last year there was
Do you have to have the physical card to register? Waiting for cards to come in mail and want to register then already…
Since the AMEX terms clearly stated that charities were not eligible to register and I see plenty of Tzedakos listed, I think it just becomes a Mitzvah Habo Beaveirah if you contribute.
Sorry
This system cannot validate your Card information.
The Amex Terms of signup
“You must not be a government agency, public administration organization, political organization, charity, non-profit, business or trade association, direct seller or shopping property management firm”
Please don’t give any money to the tzedakos that signed up and maybe next year they will stop this huge Chillul Hashem.
Anyone know if I can I use all my Amex cards for separate purchases at a single qualifying store and get multiple $10 credits?
I registered on phone for a bunch of new cards with my siblings names.now in the mail I got a letter for each new card requesting ss numbers. Do I need to call them and register them with Ss numbers in order to activate the cards, how do I go about this?
Does bluebird american express work?
@ymksa 866-515-4134
@avi it worked last year
@C yes every AU needs your SS of the supposed user for this exact reason- they don’t want scams
Guys,
If you guys take unfair advantage of AmEx, i.e. ordering 63 cards, keep in mind:
1. You will probably be ruining it in the future for regular honest people, who aren’t looking to rip every free penny they can get, i.e. they start profiling certain zip codes.
2. Think of Chillul Hashem of lots of frivolous additional card requests from certain zip codes.
Please guys, don’t lose all you decency for $10.
If you rip too much, you will end up with nothing at the end, all you are doing is that companies will stop doing these generous offers.
Just registered 39 cards! 🙂
@ C: Providing them with your siblings SSN will cause it to be reported on their credit bureau. Best to check with them prior, and, even better, don’t provide it. Cards will still work.
Amex business platinum work?
Also works for Amex Hilton HHonors cards
If I registered a few cards last year, do I need to register them (same ones) again this year?
@Farj: It worked for me last year. Dont know about this year.
Pigs.. What a chillul hashem.. 43 cards ?
and then u guys are wondering why they reduced to $10..
anyone know if the bluebird card would work for this?
@Emes: emes? Seriously? That’s what the guy with 39 cards thinks if himself? Smell the coffee bro. Ain’t no bigger shakran than you
DO JET BLUE AMEX QUALIFY?
FYI – I don’t think AMEX Serve was eligible last year – but it is this year – I got an email about it and already registered!
@Daniel Z:Of course
35!
Does wrong first name qualify?
how do us here in israel take advantage? any bizness out there that wants to help us?
Anyone know of any kosher supermarkets in the Monsey / Teaneck / Passaic area that will be open motzei shabbos and that sells gift cards for future use?
can you get credit at many different stores on the same card? or only one credit per card??
@magrie one credit per card
Gm,
Would it also work for a Macys AMEX card?
Tx
I registered a few cards, and they all said they were registered successfully, but I only got 1 confirmation email? Did anyone else have this?
Can you confirm – or help me find where in the terms it says – that when charging a card with a registered business on Square, you’ll get a statement credit?
Thanks a lot.
Scratch that.
I just noticed the quote from the terms from a previous comment that it’s not for charities. And finally found on AMEX – card readers (like Square) are not eligible.
@bracha:
If you used a gmail address the confirmations are probably combined into one email. All four of my cards were confirmed one on top of the other ( just have to scroll down).
SB, it did use a gmail address, but I scrolled down and still only see one confirmation. ( I disabled that conversation thing, maybe that is what caused yours to be combined?)
anyone experiencing my problem? i am trying o register but i keep geting message “Sorry
This system cannot validate your Card information.
any help here?
@bingo
I just tried to register my SPG ameex card and got the same msg: “Sorry This system cannot validate your Card information.”
So does SPG not work, anyone was able to register it?
I just tried to register costco amex card and got the same msg:
Sorry
This system cannot validate your Card information.
Im geting this eror now on a few types of Amex cards Im trying to Register. I regiserd alot of cards already without any isue erlier today. the system might be down. will try again later. If anyone has anymore Info Please update.
Update: I was using IE So I tryd Chrome and its working.
I just registered my other Amex cards (Hilton,Premier Gold) like just 5 mins ago and it worked but SPG is still givin me a msg about validating my card.
Has anyone successfully register SPG recently?
@Dan does amex bluebird debit card also qualify for sbs?
just tried and bluebird doesnt qualify…oh well. it should though cuz its not a prepaid card, no?
I had no trouble registering my SPG cards.
Is it confirmed that only stores that have registered with AMEX are eligible?
It says no online stores. Is that new? I believe I used the promotion last year for online purchases.
can’t get my spg or costco cards validated. duno y not? workd the other day. is registration closed?
Just tried doing it like Dan but they woukd not do it for me.
I successfully validated SPG and Costco cards. Only one card wouldn’t work and that was a card that I couldn’t activate on my amex on line profile either. suspect the card may be closed. Any suggestions where to use 17 cards either in the Miami area, or on the phone to a Lakewood store?
@Sanity Please:
THANK YOU for posting this. People should never say tzedakos and how to make a scam in the same thought. It gives us a bad name and is just greedy!
This is probably a dumb question – but if a business is not on the map – is it for sure a non-starter. There is a biz that I got all my credits at last year that accepts amex but is not on the map…at least I can’t get it to come up… Help! Thanks!
Doesn’t it work with bluebird?
Any good SBS options in Baltimore?
Seven Mile Market will work?
Any other good options?
Just returned home after using all nine of my AMEX branded cards. None of
the small businesses I went to were on the map although they were the
same ones I went to in years past and received the statement credit.
I received confirmations by email already for all nine although this
was part of the email:
We are currently processing your transaction in order to determine if
you qualify for the one-time $10 statement credit associated with the
American Express Card Member Offer for Small Business Saturday.
If your transaction qualifies for the American Express Card Member Offer,
you will receive a $10 statement credit from American Express within 90 days.
We’ll see how it turns out.

Shelly’s in Teaneck is open and on the list. The manager was very accomadating breaking up my gift card purchase into multiple $10 charges on different Amex cards. The gift card could be used at Shellys and Noah’s Ark.
Any websites to submit cards (easily) to online now, for $10 gift cards or to combine charges for a larger gift card?
thx
Can the merchant type in the cc numbers over the phone, or does he have to swipe the card?
(What if the card strip on the card is worn out, are you out of luck?)
@Dd: Where did you get the Bosch?
@Moshe: They were able to punch in numbers for me, other merchants may vary
