Ever get frustrated for not being targeted for a specific promotion?

I wrote a secure message to American Express about my displeasure for not being targeted for this Delta promotion even though I have a Delta Gold card.

To get to the secure message center just login to your account, click on “Contact us” and click on “E-mail us a secure message.”

Within a few hours I got a message back that they would give me a $50 statement credit to keep me smiling.

Smiling indeed. 😀 #LoveAmex

Far cry from how united responded to my email notifying them that I was disappointed because I was not targeted for one of their promotions a couple months ago. The basically said go jump in the lake.

I just bought 5 tickets last week from JFK on delta with delta Amex just saw this deal tonight. . I called delta who passed the problem to Amex. Amex said it would be a few weeks before hearing from the promotions department. I tried to register but the reg didn’t go thru bec it said you need an invitation to this promotion. I sure hope I can get $250 back . But not likely.

Why do you post these deals that don’t work? I already spent $50 on something because I thought that Delta will send me the money, and now they tell me that they won’t honor it. It’s not the first time you get our hopes up like this! Where is your rachmonus???

P.S. What does YMMV mean??

I can’t believe that so many of you take time to post nasty comments OR respond to them on this site.

Just read the deals, take advantage of them if you can and/or want to, and ask for clarification if you need it.

I sent to SM’s, and was told that it is only for certain people etc etc, they didn’t offer nothing like that, which dept should i sm?

@Anono MIss: My daughter and I just completed two RTs to LaGuardia and I just sent a secure email to Amex with my flight confirmation # asking for a $100 credit or two $50 gift cards retroactively base on this promotion, which I also did not receive an invitation to.

@Linda- the ticket was one way for over the required $150. Did it have to be R/T. Did you get a response to your email that you would get the gift cards?

FYI Its called a troll and the comments are made to trigger responses like are seen here. Thought it is funny when I see it done here on DD and it works. But if you don’t like it then don’t feed the trolls…

OMG WAS THAT FUNNY! HAHAHA NO-BRAINER WAS CLEARLY JOKING! And yet i ask myself, how is it that so many of you missed that he was joking?
(btw, one clear indicator he was kidding was the fact that he intentionally used phrases quoted by dan in a recent post discussing pricing mistakes where he spoke about people posting these negative comments. that does not “happen” by accident. my god, he even asked what ymmv means. you think someone who knows those phrases could not know what ymmv means? learn some critical reasoning skills, the deduction is extremely basic)
in any case, i can only surmise THAT ALL OF YOU WERE SECRETLY COVETING THIS 50 BUX DEAL! AS IF YOU SHOULD??? WHY! so naturally when a guy comes along and upsets your irrational waters, tips the balance towards reality a little, you freaked.

wow. you are not entitled to the free 50 dollars. holy hell. if someone makes a lame joke about it, too bad. that doesn’t affect your not deserving it or not getting it.
