2. is there a way to transfer less than 5,000 starpoints to southewest?

(i have 14,000 starpoints and the the 8 points southwest promo; if i transfer 4,000 starpoints via amtrack, it gives me the 8 remaining southwest points for 1 domestic ticket, and still leaves me with 10,000 starpoints, eligible for the 5,000 point bonus with 1 more card).

2. I think the 5,000 minimum transfer only applies to Continental. You should be able to transfer 4,000 starpoints to Amtrak.

it seems from amtrak’s website that the choicepoints are purchased in increments of 25,000 for 5,000 amtrack points. (there doesn’t seem to be another unit of transfer)
