I’ve already booked a few 4 star hotels for people in major cities (Chicago, Los Angeles, etc.) via Priceline.com.
Priceline only allows you to bid once, before you have to add more areas that you don’t want, or other hotel star levels.
This trick is very simple.
Lets say for example, you want to stay at a 4 star hotel close to the LAX Airport.
Step 1: Enter in the city you’re looking to stay in(in this case, just click on the los angeles bubble).
Step 2: Choose “Name your own price”
Step 3: Note that there are 8 areas to choose from, check each one individually and note what the highest ranked hotel in each area is.
In this case, 5 areas have a 3 star maximum rating, and 3 areas have a 4 star maximum rating.
Step 4: Bid a lowball price on a 4 star hotel in the area you want.
Step 5: If it gets accepted great! If not, continue on to step 6!
Step 6: Add $5 to your bid, insist on only staying in a 4 star hotel, and add an area that you confirmed in Step 3 that did not have a 4 star hotel.
Step 7: If it gets accepted great! If not, repeat and keep adding $5-$10 until all you rebid 5 times, exhausting all areas that did not have a 4 star hotel.
Still didn’t get accepted???
Repeat the whole process 3 days later!
