I haven’t done this in the past, but I figured “why not?”
I have a brand new ultra-portable Dell Insprion 710m Notebook with a 2 Ghz Centrino processor on ebay that ends tonight.
See the listing for the full specs…
If any of my ctown readers win it, I’ll knock off $25-$50(depending on if you pay by credit card or check) from the final price!!!

Giving a bigger discount because one pays by check over credit may pose a RIBBIS problem but I don’t know for sure. Just ask your Rov first.
I save $25 in credit card processing fees if someone pays by check, how is this a problem of ribbus???
Besides if that were true, then nearly every crown heights storeowner has some serious sins to take care of…
unfortunatly, the current bid price of $830 isn’t worth the computer specs. 2Ghz is useless compared to the 512 RAM, 32WH battery, 1yr warranty, and I’d like to see a wsxga+ screen.
The CPU is actually the only thing not user-replacable.
An extra 512 MB of Ram is just $35.
The 32 why battery is the one that i use in mine as well. The 65 whr battery adds size and weight defeating the purpose of this ultra-portable laptop.
There is no such thing as a wsxga+ on a 12″ laptop, you wouldnt be able to read the screen!
Anyway I have an inspiron 8600 with a wsxga+ screen, and IMO the regular screen on the 710m is much nicer and more “true-life”…
You are right that if the lower price is for just the credit processing fee then it is permitted, but one has to be very care full not to charge more then this fee, any overage would be considered ribbis. The stated above is only relevant if you are accepting cash instead of credit card, but a check may be different because it is also a form of credit. A two price system in which a lower price is charged for for cash purchases instead of credit card (meaning more then the processing fees) is a violation of the the laws of ribbis. This is because when a merchant accepts a credit card he is actually extending a loan to the buyer until he is paid by the credit company. Paying for a loan is ribbis, in this situation where it is done in the form of me’kach u’memchar it is only a issur drabanon. Like i said, you should tell this to many storeowners in brooklyn…
At any rate like you said returning the cost of credit card preccessing int a problem…
