For example, you can enter your mobile phone number as well as your office phone number to ring when your Packet8 home number is not answered. When a call comes in and you are not at home, the call will cease to ring on the Packet8 home number (after ringing the assigned number of times) and then move on to ring the mobile phone. Then if there is no response there, the call moves on to ring your office number. If there is still no answer, the call can then be guided to your voicemail box.”
    -Network Unavailable Forwarding:
“If, for some reason, your Internet connection goes down, you will lose Packet8 phone service until your Internet connection is restored. However, you won’t lose callers as they can be automatically forwarded to any other number (like a cell phone) that you have pre-programmed.”

    izzy

dan Please help me out here. You once had a way of doing something thru lan. how did that work?
I am trying to figure out how to transfer 300,000 hilton points to either American airlines or continental.
I know you had stuff in the past how to do it but i am having a hard time figuring out the best way to do it in order to get the most miles.
can you advise me what to do??
I want to use the miles for flyinmg to israel and i already have about 110,00 on american (Their points work for elal) and about 60,000 on continental and also 45000 amex points.
Please help me out for the best way to get the most tickets possible.
    Thank you very much

    Yoko

I think that outgoing calls to cell phones are not included in the plans.

    Dan/Ctownbochur

Yoko-I believe it depends on the country. For US and Canada calls to cellphones are definitely allowed.

In the US and Canada there are generally no free incoming calls, so the cell phone owner pays for the call.

In most countries in the world there are free incoming calls, so the caller has to pay for the call, hence the reason calling international cell phones from the US is so much more expensive than calling international landlines.

ditto jeff’s question, anyone know quality. Can i reliably switch my verizon landline?

    Dan/Ctownbochur

I haven’t used them recently, but I had Packet 8 during the year I spent in Brazil and it worked very well.

    a

Not sure how this works….if I have dsl on another line I can use that dsl connection to get packet 8? Then I would have two phone lines off only one real phone line?

    david

I have Packet 8 at home now. The quality is average at best. Doesn’t come close to a landline, but good enough considering the amount of money you’re saving.

    yada

I think I’m gonna try it… will report back

    Dan/Ctownbochur

    a:
    That’s correct.

I also have packet8 for home and it isn’t too bad quality wise (I do have verizon fios 20mb/5mb although I’m not sure if that make any difference). The part I am not happy with is they seem to have lots of glitches from dropped calls to one side not hearing the other from time to time. Also, Packet8 lines don’t support faxing, so if you need to fax from the line then this is not for you, it won’t work. The tech support is not to helpful either. But like David said, considering the amount of money you’re saving its a great deal.

    does packet8 charge tax???

i have “lingo” service. i pay about $23.00 plus tax, which works out to about $28.00 a month for free global calling. i am not so happy with them. the line sometimes fades out, and the customer service is horrible.

has anyone else had experience with them, and how does the phone service compare to packet8

    Excuse me

Since when is Australia part of asia???

    Dan/Ctownbochur

Lol…because that’s what the Packet8 page that I copied from says!

Besides, if it was, I would be able to say that I’ve been to every continent but Antarctica 😉

    AF

I have been looking on a deal to get IP phone service for a while. I ordered this yesterday. I will test out the service since there’s a 30 day return policy here…
Too bad fax doesn’t work though, I didn’t know that.

Israel is on the continent of Asia
