I configured a 700m, here’s what i was able to upgrade for free:
Processor:1.73 Centrino-not upgradeable
Ram: $150 upgrade to 1GB for free
Hard Drive:$49 upgrade to 60 GB for free
Optical Drive:$89 upgrade to dvd burner for free
Wi-FI: $25 upgrade to 802.11a/b/g for free
Office Software: $149 upgrade to Microsoft office basic(word, excel, outlook) for free
Warranty:$179 upgrade to 2 year at-home service for free
Security Suites:$119 upgrade for 3 years of Mcafee Security center for free.
Total-$1499
Bottom line: Overall a good deal if you need most of these upgrades anyway, if not, you’re better off waiting for a good coupon to come out and buy a bare-bones system for much less.
