For those not interested in the mileage game, this seems like a very convenient card!

Also, even if you are a Starwood junkie, it may not be a bad card to have. You can reallocate your Starwood AMEX’s credit line into it just before you cancel the Starwood card (when the Starwood annual fee comes up after the first free year) The 0% interest for 12 months makes things all the more interesting…

-You pay 0% interest for all purchases for the first 12 months. (Once the 12 months are up, it’s time to apply again!)

    -No annual fee.

    -No late fees.

    -No cash advance fees.

    -No “over-limit” fees

    -No balance transfer fees.

-Automatic $25 AMEX rebate card for each $2,500 in purchases (1% rebate)

-Free Credit report with credit score every year.

    Dear Dan,
I have not been in touch for a while, but I do want to thank you for taking my advice back then & putting up categories on the side bar. Here is one more for you: after reading ALL the posts about the Starwood AMEX cards & how it is the best card, I think there is still one more type of cards that were not addressed & that is the cards with a 5% cash back on everyday purchases & 1.5% on all other purchases if you spend more then $6500 (which I think most people do, I sure do) with no annual fee. now if you spend $20,000 on your starwood card that will give 25,000 miles to fly with any airline, BUT if you spend $20,000 on this type of card & you get back 5% – that means you get $1000, which I think might be/is worth more then 25,000 miles [AMEX has such a card & I think Chase has one too but terms might be different]. Please teach me if I am wrong.

dan, im a 18 year old student – no real income, is there any reason i should go for the blue over the clear?

Hey Simon I have a card like that and you dont get close to 5% back.

is there another card (blue?) that has a lower long-term APR?

My brother-in-law has that 5% cash-back AMEX card and he loves it. He uses it for groceries and gas to get 5% back and uses a miles card for all other purchases which would be around 1% back.

But as you said, it only starts becoming 5% back after spending 5K or so in the year.

I’ll post my thoughts on AMEX Blue in a future post…

This card has a 5.99% APR on balance transfers.

Hey Dan, It seems that amex has raised the annual fee for the business starwood card to $45 as well.
