Most people already have paypal account.
Thats the issue.
Does ebay let u use googlecheckout?
it is a violation of ebay policy to request a payment method no approved by ebay. gpay have not been approved. technically it is grounds for them pulling the listing, although i dont know if they enforce it.
a search for “google checkout” in title and description brings up around 4200 results.

True, but in beta testing for google checkout’s predecessor, google payments, for the last few months, i’ve found that people dont mind paying pay by google checkout, and its a much easier signup process that paypal.

According to the article i just read on this matter, that “safe payment policy” was made assuming google checkout would be a beta launch, however since google checkout did not launch as a beta there’s not much that ebay can claim as to as to it not being a safe service…
we’ll see if ebay actually closes any auctions that offer google checkout…
the safe was payment policy was made long before gpay was being launched. sure there are people that say it was in anticipation of the competition but theres no proof.
theres nothing in the policy about beta. it simply has to be approved by ebay. western union was never approved yet many people requested it without hassle. we’ll see if they are a bit more sensitive about google!
“Of Google’s rumored payment service, eBay spokesperson Hani Durzy said, “We don’t know what it will look like, we haven’t seen it. If it is introduced as a beta test, it probably doesn’t meet our definition of having a historical track record.”
not sure where you got that from but this pretty much should put this discussion to rest:
(from ebay.com)
“From time to time, as new payment services arise, eBay will evaluate them to determine whether they are appropriate for the marketplace. Payment services that are not permitted on eBay may, in fact, be outstanding services for consumers in other contexts.”
“Payment Services not permitted on eBay: AlertPay.com, anypay.com, AuctionChex.com, AuctionPix.com, BillPay.ie, ecount.com, cardserviceinternational.com, CCAvenue, ecount, e-gold, eHotPay.com, ePassporte.com, EuroGiro, FastCash.com, Google Checkout, gcash, GearPay, etc, etc (see ebay for the rest)”
ebay recently (i think the last day or two) updated this list to include google.
ebay says “(we) will evaluate them to determine whether they are appropriate”, there is no limit on “how long” it takes them to evaluate. basically, google checkout could be banned indefinitly.
