Cathay Pacific announced today that for the first time in Asia Miles history they are finally raising premium class long-haul rates to bring themselves closer in line with other programs.
The changes will be effective for tickets issued after 10/15/07. If you want to cash out do so before that time!!!
The interesting thing is that they have actually decreased the miles required for many of the short-haul awards, and they have not increased the rates for economy.
Also of note: While they have tinkered with the regular award chart a lot, their oneworld around-the-world award chart remains exactly the same for the time being!
The reason why all of this is so bad is that they are raising the rate of their extremely popular Zone C business and first class awards by 33%!
Remember that all Asia Mile awards are done in mileage zones according to the Great Circle Mapper.

1. Customer-centric policies: Amazon is one of the few retailers where the customer really is always right. Whenever I have had a problem with an order, they will fix the situation. Item delayed? Just ask for it, and they will overnight it to you for free!
2. Price-adjustments: Price went down? Just call and the difference will be refunded. Officially this is only good for 30 days, but most reps will adjust the price even past 30 days.
3. No sales tax and Free shipping on $25: So many other web retailers have half-baked free shipping policies that require coupons or have many exclusions, at Amazon it’s simple, spend $25 on stuff sold by amazon (not the annoying 3rd party stuff that shows up at the side) and shipping is free.
4. Prime shipping: I joined prime back when they had the $50 promotion and I love it, free 2 day shipping on everything they sell without the $25 premium-plus you can share it for free with 4 other household accounts!
5. Easy, free shipping returns with no restocking fees: Nearly all web retailers make you foot the shipping bill both ways for returns, and many (like Newegg) charge a restocking fee on all returns, even when defective.
With Amazon if there is any problem with the item, they will refund your original shipping fee (if you were under $25 or paid for faster shipping) and give you a free return shipping label so that you are not out a penny when you have a problem with anything bought from amazon.
