Update: I just booked tickets for my family to go from Detroit (about a 3 hour drive from Cleveland) to Honolulu in January! I picked up $100 United vouchers on Ebay for just $15 apiece to bring the total cost down to $140 + $65 tax + $15 voucher cost for each round trip!!!
These under the radar fares are tricky to find, but are well worth the search.
Atlanta-$238+ RT
Detroit-$240+ RT
Minneapolis-$241+ RT
Salt Lake City-$241+ RT
Seattle-$247+ RT
Dallas/DFW-$317+ RT
I have had success in finding these fares by using Orbitz.com’s flexible search option.
Just go to flexible dates, and try using option 3-“Flexible Stays.” You can then specify your desired length of stay and month of travel. You should be able to find the fare via this method.
