40% Off Award Sale:
Virgin Atlantic is offering 40% off awards for Virgin Atlantic flights.
- Book by 6/24 at 7:59pm ET
- Travel by 12/31.
- Not valid on partner awards, such as Delta or El Al.
It’s always a good idea to search for awards as one-ways instead of a round-trip to find award availability more easily.
Virgin Atlantic points can be transferred from several currencies (see below) and never expire. Dates changes or cancellations cost $50 ($35 if originating in UK) or a forfeiture of taxes paid, whichever is lower.
Virgin does charge hefty fuel surcharges for Virgin flights, but there are workarounds to lower them, such as booking 2 one-ways instead of a round-trip as is pointed out below.
You may be able to get even lower rates by calling Virgin and asking for companion ticket pricing. Post a comment if you are successful with that.
Virgin will resume flying to Tel Aviv on September 5th, and there are some nice bargains for Israel travel with this sale.

What is companion ticket pricing and how does it work?
Thanks for this info! Going forward would it be possible to include another popular hub for international departures like IAD?
I’d expect that Eastern Seaboard pricing should all be identical or very similar to JFK.
@dan what would the price be for a lap infant with this deal?
Should be 1K points in coach, 2K in premium, or 5K in business each way.
You can book it at the same time as an adult award.
what is the rationale for sep 5 ? is that like only if things get better in Israel, which if not whey will further delay the start. and if situation will stay the same they will also fly, then why not start flying now ?
What was Delta and United’s rationale for June 6/7 retstart?
Doesn’t seem like that great a deal, I’m looking at one way December 22nd JFK> TLV, 17,000 points plus $240.. around $600 total value? Nonstop with United or el al would be around $100 more.
Why are the taxes so large for Israel flights?
I think it’s the fuel surcharge for flying through lhr
Booked a flight over chat booking shows confirmed,
Anyone in the know how long i have to pay thru the link received in email before ticket is cancelled?
72 hours
rep told me to get the sale pricing you have to complete the payment by tomorrow
Why I don’t see El, Al flights when looking for Virgin Atlantic awards tickets? I’m gone buying it without their promotion
How is the availability on virgin in general?
What number do I call to ask for companion ticket, and what exactly is companion ticket?
site again, nyc doesnt allow to TLV code – pls help. cant input TLV
Are you searching for an award?
Enter JFK instead of nyc
Virgin is very strict on award bookings for others. One or two is fine after that they may suspend your account.
I booked TLV-EWR on October 8th for 75k+$239. Is it possible to get it repriced?
Just Cancel for $50 and Rebook it.
I needed a one-way ticket to London, and 6.000 points and $152 beat every alternative. Unimaginable to me why anyone would pay them 7x more and 4x+ miles to fly in business for this 7 hour flight, but I guess some people are spoiled or have money to burn.
Not seeing these rates for July 15 NYc-LHR
is it worth it to buy points
howe much would 12k points cost
You wrote 7:59 instead of 6:59, and now the sale is over costing me tens of thousands of points more for my trip.
Please do your research before posting deadlines.
Good job procrastinating!
But their site said 23:59 GMT, which is 7:59pm EST. Go call them if it’s not working.
“Offer valid for new reward flights, upgrades and companion bookings booked using Virgin Points between 00:01 GMT 21st June 2024 and 23:59 GMT 24th June 2024. All flight departures, including returns, must be on or before 31st December 2024. “
Dan, I’m sorry but as far as I know 23:59 GMT is 6:59pm EST.
https://www.google.com/search?q=when+is+23%3A59+GMT&oq=when+is+23%3A59+GMT+&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCDUzODRqMGo0qAIOsAIB
You are incorrect.
There is a 5 hour difference in the winter and 4 hour difference in the summer between GMT and ET.
Dan, I’m sorry but 23:59 GMT is 6:59pm EST!
Did anybody find that this sale ended an hour early?
