Save 20% On Select JetBlue Award Tickets!

JetBlue is offering a 20% discount when you redeem points for select travel.

Normally, this promo is valid systemwide. It’s not obvious, but based on testing, this time the sale appears to be valid on select routes only. Those can be found via the link above by selecting an origin city and scrolling down to the valid destination cities. It doesn’t appear that any Florida routes are included in this sale.

  • Book an award flight by 10/9. Valid on new JetBlue bookings only & cannot be applied to existing bookings.
  • Fly 12/4/24-2/12/25.
  • Blackout dates: 12/19/24-1/7/25
  • Excludes travel in Mint®
  • When you search for an eligible award flight, the base fare you see will automatically include the 20% discount.”

While JetBlue notes that this isn’t valid for existing bookings, you can always just refund your existing award booking for free, though while other airlines refund your taxes, JetBlue refunds the taxes back to your TravelBank. You may have to call JetBlue to use those TravelBank funds to pay for the taxes on an award ticket.

For example, a flight from JFK to Los Angeles (forget about Newark to Los Angeles, that route is being discontinued before this sale starts) on 12/4 is $118.10 in basic or $163.10 in regular economy. A regular economy award ticket is 8,600 points+$5.60, or a value of 1.31 cents per point compared to basic or 1.83 cents per point compared to regular economy. JetBlue doesn’t sell basic awards.

The same award and fare on 11/19 before the sale window is 11,100 points, or a value of 1.01 cents per point compared to basic or 1.42 cents per point compared to regular economy.

If you travel dates fall within the dates of this promotion and you normally book regular economy tickets, those are some pretty good values for your Chase or Citi points!

And, if you have a JetBlue Plus consumer or business card you’ll also get a 10% rebate when redeeming JetBlue points.
