Update: You can purchase a flight on Brussels Airlines from Tel Aviv to Brussels on most dates for just $126.82, connecting to the Brussels Airlines business class flight from Brussels to JFK for 25.5K miles!
A carry-on bag from Tel Aviv to Brussels is free, and a checked bag adds $30.

Earlier this week I wrote about the Lifemiles award sale, which is valid for bookings made through tomorrow.
I tested pricing on many of the routes, but I failed to find anything in business class from JFK to Brussels on Brussels Airlines, even when United.com showed there was availability. The pricing on the sale page was also wonky, showing that it was normally 22K miles in business class and was on sale for 18,700 miles. Chalking it up to a glitch, I didn’t mention it in the post.
However, DDF member yanky1 pointed out that although the outbound leg isn’t bookable in business class, the return leg from Brussels to JFK is bookable and it’s on sale for just 25,500 miles one-way in business class!
Brussels Airlines flies A330s on the route with staggered lie-flat seating in alternating 1-2-1 and 2-1-2 configuration.
When you search on Lifemiles’ site, change from Smart Search to Star Alliance:
Best of all, availability is wide open, with up to 6 available seats per flight as per United’s legacy award calendar, which is my preferred method for searching for Star Alliance availability. While United charges 75K miles for the flight (or more close-in), it’s just 25.5K when booked via Lifemiles!
While flights from Brussels to JFK can easily be had for 25.5K Lifemiles in business class, the JFK to Brussels flights don’t appear to have any business availability via Lifemiles. I was only successful in getting the JFK to Brussels flight to show as available in economy for 22K Lifemiles.
If you want to fly in business class from JFK to Brussels, there is availability to book with other Star Alliance airline miles, such as for 60K Air Canada miles each way.
Will you take advantage of this deal?

Lifemiles probably gonna cancel all tickets booked today knowing them. Even not these mistake ones because they won’t know how to figure it out
I have booked tickets like this with them in the past. Plus, this is the published rate on their sale, so the DOT will not allow them to just cancel.
United shows them but I can’t find them on Lifemiles 🙁
Read the post again?
I found one! Do the transfer takes place immediately?
YMMV. It’s either instant or will post overnight.
Whats the best points way to fly from BRU to TLV?
chances this will be live in 72 hours? (Est. Transfer Time from Amex)
The transfer won’t take that long. It’s either instant or will post overnight.
wow transferred instantly and booked!
Awesome!
Transferred points from capital one, I see it’s on my LifeMiles transactions, but still not showing in my Balance. What’s the timeframe for points transfer with them ?
It’s either instant or will post overnight.
Cap 1 has been overnight for me in the past
I transferred miles from Capital One. Transfer went through instantly and shows in my LifeMiles statement as October activity. But my balance still shows as 0.
Frustrating, anyone else experience this?
It’s either instant or will post overnight.
Good idea to mention the cancellation fees
What are the cancelation fee for LM for business class fares?
Making a change to a LifeMiles award ticket will cost you $150, regardless of what the change is. Redepositing your ticket, meanwhile, will cost you $50-200. You can expect to pay around $50 for a short haul economy award ticket, while you can expect to pay $200 for a long haul first or business class ticket.
Confirming capital venture x transfer in like 5 to 10 minutes, I snatch one. Thanks Dan!
Are these tickets cancellable?
Good luck with the customer support, to cancel. But there redemption rates are great so we deal with it
is amex transfer immediate?
transferred the amex points. waiting for it to hit to book. Anyone else transfer from amex for this and how long did it take to hit your LM account?
Just transfered from amex posted instantly
Strange, AwardWallet shows the transfer. LM activity shows the transfer but balance in LM still shows 0 and can’t book yet ;(
Finally transferred! Booked for 4 returning from Spring Break!
Is there 24 hours free cancelation?
Yes to both flights
Is it easy to add an infant with lifemiles?
Book the infant a seat!
Hey Dan, do you recommend booking the infant a seat? If it’s not possible to book as lap child I may consider that
Definitely, no-brainer.
Just booked thanks so much!!
Now gotta work on finding availability for the way there
Does anybody know how to add the the flight from tlv to bru so it should be connecting or it is not possible.
Anyone? @dan
Just buy it separately.
Flight from tlv arrving 930 so it’s 1 hour 20 min with a possibility of rechecking baggage, so many things can go wrong
Booked! Thanks dan. Now I need a cheap flight TLV-BRU on Dec. 5 – any ideas?
$127 on Brussels Air
would a 1 hour 20 minute connection in Brussels be anough time to transfer?
Same question I have
Yes, they sell that flight.
I believe the published minimum connect time there for international flights is 50 minutes.
yes, but if you for some reason miss your connection there is no other flight until the next day. Would they rebook you for free since you came in also on a Brussles flight, even if the flights are not connected?
booked 2 tickets, thanx dan!!!!
Enjoy!
why is it only giving me the option of combining 14000 miles with money?
WILL CHECKING A BAG ALL WAY THRU BE A PROBLEM?
Just booked. Transferred from Amex instantly! (Got a flight from TLV for $190) Can I choose my seat? How do I request a kosher meal? Neither of these options show up when I go to manage my reservation.
Manage your booking with brussels airlines.
Very convenient chat option if you can’t find what you need online
How do I search the tlv to brussels on lifemiles without with paying and not using points
Is it possible to have the luggage transferred from the tlv to the jfk flight even if you booked it separately?
Most airlines allow this, but YMMV.
I’m having this question many times when I want to buy separate tickets. What about to other airlines is it also possible to have it transferred?
Same answer. American is a notable exception in that they will rarely do anything for seperate tickets.
Booked three tickets at end of February. We already have SFO-TLV Polaris Award tickets (Unicorn!), so this BRU-JFK will be the centerpiece of our return trip.
Thanks, Dan. Good Shabbos!
Fantastic!
Of course my Capital One transfer of points this morning, and now my desperate Amex transfer both didn’t clear today… at least there’s some decent uses of LifeMiles points.
Shabbat Shalom and hoping some other fun LifeMiles redemption options come up soon
found TLV-BRU in J for $250
Tip: calling Brussels to link the tickets use the 1800 #: 1800-401-1801 they pick up right away – main call center didn’t pick up.
