While there are no US cities included in the sale, you can save by booking one-way or round-trip travel to the US from cities like Tel Aviv.
- The offer is valid for tickets issued by 4pm ET on 12/25.
- Travel valid from now through 5/31/23.
- Valid on Turkish Airlines flights only.
- Use a card like Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card to earn 2 points or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card or Sapphire Reserve to earn 3 Chase points per dollar spent and get free trip cancellation/interruption insurance, travel accident insurance, luggage insurance, trip and luggage delay protection, and more!
- Coach passengers can check 2×50 pound bags for free on Turkish.
- Flights connect in Istanbul.
- Turkish is a very highly rated airline. Thousands of religious Jews have taken their flights without issues and report that service has been far superior to other airlines. Turkish has an award winning Star Alliance lounge in Istanbul. They operate a whopping 9 flights a day between Istanbul and Tel Aviv. There are even 2 Synagogues in Istanbul’s airport!
- Turkish offers freshly made kosher meals from Istanbul and Tel Aviv in all classes and the meals for flights departing Istanbul are highly regarded as well. They are made in Turkey and are kosher supervised by the OK and Chabad of Turkey.
- The Priority Pass and Turkish lounges in Istanbul offer kosher food and there’s even a vending machine with kosher food in Istanbul airport!
Turkish already has a very inexpensive saver award chart. Flights between the US and Tel Aviv normally cost 32K miles in economy or 47K miles in business class each way.
Saver award space can be hard to find, but if you search around you should find space.
- With this sale a one-way economy class flight from Tel Aviv to JFK via Istanbul will be just 22.4K miles. Fuel surcharges and taxes will add about $162.
- With this sale a one-way business class flight from Tel Aviv to JFK via Istanbul will be just 32.9K miles. Fuel surcharges and taxes will add about $339.
You can search for Turkish Airlines award tickets here. Be sure to search one-way at a time in order to find saver awards. You will need to open a Turkish Airlines mileage account online (Hint: Your password must be exactly 6 numbers or else it will give an error).
North American cities served by Turkish include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, JFK, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, Newark, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington DC.
As you can see from this chart, you can transfer points to Turkish Airlines from Capital One or Citibank at a 1:1 ratio or from Marriott at a 60K:25K ratio. Transfers from Capital One should be instant, transfer from Citi can take a day or 2, while Marriott transfers can take slightly longer.
Turkish allows you to hold an award for 3 days, which will allow you to transfer in miles after the award is on hold.
Another nice perk is that changes or cancellations cost just $25! That fee may also be waived due to COVID.
Miles expire after 36 months and won’t be extended with activity. But you should never transfer miles unless you’re ready to book an award.

“from Marriott at a 60K:25K ratio.” shouldn’t that be 60K:20K?
No.
There is a 5k Bonus when transferring Marriott points in 60k increments, that’s why the ratio is 60:25 and not 3:1.
Anyway to pull up a calendar, I’m not finding anything for J?
I found several close-in dates. No business calendar.
Can you add a united or air Canada flight at the end of such an award?
I want to be in Israel for Chanukah. I could book my way back using turkish but any recommendations for the cheapest airline to use miles on for the way there? (Economy ticket)
If I’m not mistaken this paragraph doesn’t make sense in this post because these are tickets that are being purchased and Chase cards don’t transfer points to Turkish. Am I wrong?
Use a card like Sapphire Preferred to earn 2 points or Ink Preferred or Sapphire Reserve to earn 3 Chase points per dollar spent and get free trip cancellation/interruption insurance, travel accident insurance, luggage insurance, trip and luggage delay protection, and more!
It’s for the taxes.
Aha. Understood
Taxes and fees
how do you search for business?
Yellow pages
Joe, you’re showing your age.
What’s the dates ? If I stand correct not all dates have an availability for booking an award flight ? Or with this promotion all dates are open ?
Dec 20th has at least 4 I class biz tickets available from TLV to ORD for 32.9k
Any way to take advantage of this through Amex or Chase airline transfer partners?
Help! I get stuck on the “Passenger Information” page. The “Select Adult 1” field is blank, with nothing to select and no way to type in a name.
I could not find an option to reserve for 3 days without purchasing missing miles. Transferred 66K Capital points instantaneously but had problems on the Turkish website putting in passenger name. Was anyone able to book these fares?
You can call them and they will hold your ticket for 48 hours while you getting all your miles in.
Would it be worth it to purchase capital one miles/is there a way to do this? I have just under 22,400 miles so just need to top that off for a one way ticket. thanks!
Amex plat doesn’t transfer?
I’m getting TLV to JFK or EWR 120,000 in Business on March 13.
Same here
looks to me that it works from nyc-tlv as well (i only saw 22,000 for economy not business). just checked.
Was that for anytime this month? Or for sometime next year?
“Hold this fare” only works for cash tickets only. Is NOT offered for milage tickets, at least not for promotional fares.
I believe by calling in you can hold award ticket
@Dan, love those posts, missing the times they were coming much more frequently…
Just found a NYC-TLV 32900 business class promo award and booked for my wife and her sister
Thank Dan!
For what dates?
im new to transferring points . any help?
which dates have this deal on business?
i cant find any deals for business
no business awards available from NYC to TLV
Hey Dan, just checked multiple dates in April, jfk > tlv didn’t find anything.
How can I see how many seats are available? when putting in more than one passenger i get the following error “The first award ticket can only be issued under your name. If you want to have it issued for a loved one, please contact the nearest sales office.”
“Use a card like Sapphire Preferred to earn 2 points or Ink Preferred or Sapphire Reserve to earn 3 Chase points per dollar spent and get free trip cancellation/interruption insurance, travel accident insurance, luggage insurance, trip and luggage delay protection, and more!”
Isn’t it only for award tickets?
Taxes.
Worst website to use
Why am I getting 120,000 in Business?
That’s a standard award, saver award space is tough to find, though I put some samples in this post.
Oh. Thanks!
Anyone know why jfk and ewr award space have been so dry lately for TK? FIFA fatality?
I have plenty of Chase points. Repeat of a question i asked last week on a different deal. Does it make sense to transfer Chase points to Marriott & then Marriott to Turkish Airlines for this? Thanks again for all of your help (I need it!)
Not really, you’d lose too much in the process and it would take a while.
Open up some Citi and Capital One cards to diversify for the future?
Thanks. I guess it’s more a matter of using the Capitol One card I have more.
Well I have another option too like asking a friend to transfer miles to my Capitol One account i assume (or else just buy me the tickets with his Cap One) and I’d transfer him my Chase points 1:1
thanks Dan for your help!
Why am I getting this message if I want to book for my family. How to book bus class for all members? thanks
‘The first award ticket can only be issued under your name. If you want to have it issued for a loved one, please contact the nearest sales office.’
Here is my old reply on how to buy more than 1 award ticket.
The award process is a large undertaking. A quick review of lessons learned:
Turkey looks to require a pre-purchase of an eVisa ($50) for US passports if you leave the Istanbul international terminal. ( I read old info that it may be possible to get in person, but looks like a gamble.)
Citi ThankYou points are transferred instantly to Turkish Airlines.
Award tickets for more than 1+ person can ONLY be booked on the Phone.
Make sure to fill in your personal details/passport/Bday and companions on the turkish airline website under My Personal Details before calling to save time.
Phone number is 24/7, and the representative may not understand English well. It may take a few tries to get someone who understands. 1-800-874-8875
They can hold the ticket without payment for 2-3 days by phone. You can make payments using their app. OR If you are having issues submitting payments online/app, call them and have them change the currency to the same as your card and make the payment on the phone.
You will have to enter your Miles and Smiles 6 digit pin/password to book the awards by phone.
Thank you!
Seems you cannot book a companion award ticket on the website or on the app without having to call
@Dan
Anything to do with Amex points for this? Any transfer options?
Nothing good.
Big ZERO from Miami
It doesn’t appear to let you book multiple award tickets under 1 account, and when I called the center to book with an agent, the award price jumped. I could book most of the fam individually by setting up individual accounts for everyone, but the 2 child-age passengers can’t be booked individually (must be on an adult’s itinerary)… how else do you get the whole family booked?
I make my kids 100 years older, so 2015 becomes 1915. Never had an issue.
and you set up individual accounts for everyone in the family, and book 1 tix at a time – so everyone on separate itineraries?
I’ve done this with other airlines, but not Turkish.
Try calling again? The question is, how many of the saver seats are actually available for your flight.
I have a great story on that. I booked allegiant tickets on a deal for the whole fam. (I know, friends don’t let friends fly allegiant). I booked the kids as 1917 and 1920 to get around age limitations, as promotions were only good if individual tickets were purchased (ie $20 off transaction and whole ticket was only $35). I walked up to the counter to check my bag. She noticed my wife and asked us to all check in together with the bag. She looked up every single ticket and noticed my kids were “alone”. “This must have been a mistake,” she said. And happily charged me an extra $30 per person. Wench.
Any way to transfer United miles to Turkish?
No
@Dan reckon this might be viable by transferring Chase points to Aeroplan or Avianca ?
March 14 from JFK to TLV for 22K
I stopped bothering with turkish airlines a while ago – their website just sucks so bad
Dan, does this deal work from Toronto?
It should.
It’s showing 52,500 each way. And I checked multiple dates
Trying to sign up for an awards account with Turkish and cannot sign up. The website is horrible, keeps getting stuck by the password part. Tried several browsers, all the same
Read the password instructions in this post?
I also was constantly stuck with the PW issue for about a week until i finally realized that the final two numbers of my Turkish Airlines account kept getting cutting off for reasons unknown to me when it autofilled.
I will add that it took me 42 minutes today to put a hold on two tickets with constant issues of correct spellings, email address, etc. Really frustrating as the person’s English was not sufficient, but it did eventually work.
The last 2 probably got cut off because the first 2 digits are letters, and you have to put in only the numbers. So the autofill puts in TK123456789, but it only allows 9 digits (and no letters) so it autofills 1234567. That’s been my experience.
Yes, I did exactly 6 and it still says I need 6. Followed all the requirements and it is not going away 🙁
It’s very annoying. After googling i found that it must be only numbers
Maybe someone can answer my question yes I’m ignorant when it comes to anything points related.. please be gentle
Anyway to use either UR points or united points to transfer to Turkish? (For this deal)
Thanks
No, you can only transfer from either 1. Capital one 2. Citi 3. Marriot. Dan has a link to that post in this post.
very scarce, but i booked business from newark to tlv on march 14th for 32k
I can’t make the math work (well) for an economy ticket. With taxes and fees, it comes to 44,800 miles + $280.57 = $728.57 (round-trip). I can get the same ticket for cash for $765.07. So, the savings come to $36.50 round-trip, or a value per point of 1.08¢… Not exactly a blowout.
As for the business class, I can’t seem to find any from Newark in the next 2 months. Everything is showing as 120K miles each way.
+1
Can you stop in Istanbul on a one way miles ticket, without extra charges? Do you have to call them to do that?
Is it safe for Jews in turkey?
Thinking of using this deal and booking a long layover in order to take advantage of the free tour of the city of Istanbul that Turkish Airlines offers. Anyone know if this is safe to do nowadays for Jews? I will be travelling with both an Israeli and US Passport, and I suppose I can use either one to enter, though I will be coming off a flight from Tel Aviv.
I did a tour last October around Istanbul. It was fine though I wasn’t wearing anything outwardly Jewish. The tour guide I had told me she gets lots of Israelis and was super friendly.
I did it last month. Totally safe and fine. Wore my yarmulka and looked completely frum, zero issues. Did the 830 am- 11 am tour. Was a decent way to spend a layover if you’re stuck anyway, but I wouldn’t schedule a layover purposely, wasn’t very exciting. Very generic, see a few buildings, take some pictures.
is there any way to get around the tax on this
update availability from/to NY
What points am I able to transfer to Turkish points? Chase?
Cap1 and Citi
Can I redeem United points to fly Turkish from JFK?
Still working at this point anyway for the 22.4 from Boston at least.
can you please provide the link were can book on Turkish tickets from star airlines too
Is there a new cancellation fee for turkish award domestic flights? I am being told its $70 to cancel… Anyone know?
Looks like fee has gone up from $25 to $70. https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/miles-and-smiles/redeem-miles/redeem-miles-on-flights/award-travel-terms-conditions/
Dan,
Can I still get this deal?
@Dan, This may not be true anymore “Another nice perk is that changes or cancellations cost just $25!” ??
Looks like it’s $70, from Dec13 2022 per customer service and also listed at award ticket terms and conditions. https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/miles-and-smiles/redeem-miles/redeem-miles-on-flights/award-travel-terms-conditions/
