Flying Blue considers Israel to be part of Europe, which makes for mileage bargains, though fuel surcharges apply. JFK to Tel Aviv can be booked for as low as 25K miles in coach, 42.5K points in premium economy, or 53K miles in business class each way.
If you book an award ticket using Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles by 11/30 for travel on select dates between 12/31-2/28 you can find some great deals with Promo Awards.
Additionally you can also get a 25% bonus when you transfer points from AMEX to Flying Blue!
Promo Awards are nonrefundable and non-changeable. They also have fuel surcharges.
You have to login to an Air France account to search for award space. On this page you can search for awards and click on “You are looking for a flight around these dates” to access the flexible award calendar.
This month’s US/Canada awards include:
- Coach travel to/from Houston or Minneapolis and Europe/Israel/Russia.
- Premium Economy travel to/from Houston or Vancouver and Europe/Israel/Russia.
- Business class travel to/from Chicago and Europe/Israel/Russia.
Prices for these awards now vary by destination.
Some dates will have short connections while other dates will have longer connections, perfect for a day trip to check out Amsterdam or Paris, 2 of my favorite cities in the world!

Have you ever flown flying blue in business? What does it compare to?
Flying Blue is the mileage program of Air France and KLM.
The Chicago-Tel Aviv deal is on KLM 787-9 Dreamliner business class, which has excellent reverse herringbone 1-2-1 direct aisle access seats.
What about jfk or Newark?
Do any followers of this site not live in the tri-state area? Mind blown
Any deals from JFK or Newark to TLV?
Interestingly when I search from the main AF page, it shows me a week calendar at a time and prices at the award rate and around 170 euro RT but when I click, it errors each and every sale date (regular priced flights come up). When I use the link in the post above, the price in cash is WAY more ($533 RT) but it seems to actually work.
