Officially 24 hours as per federal law and their website, but actually getting a refund seems to require a DoT complaint, so likely not worth the hassle of buying unless you’re sure you want to go.

I guess I got lucky and found 2 tickets for July 2016 from Memphis to Newark to Tel Aviv using United miles. I got two one way tickets for 42.5K miles/ticket. I have been watching the United site for weeks now, and it seems almost possible to get the EWR > TLV tickets.

I now need a return ticket from Tel Aviv, but those are not available via United yet since it is more than 12 months away. The wife says to cancel the tickets since they are only one way tickets. (I can cancel within 24 hours and get all the miles back.) I say we should keep them and hopefully I get lucky when the return trip dates become available.

What do I do? Thanks in advance!

Booked tickets Hanaka time (2 adults + infant = 886$).
Had no issues with website.

On the booking page I get a price of $404.76 for one adult (TLV to JFK, Oct 20-Nov 18). It says that includes taxes and fees. Then I click Next to pay and the price suddenly jumps to $776.76. Anyone else seeing this behavior? Dan, when you quote sample prices, which screen are you taking the price from?

noticed that u r transferring airports on stopover, if u r flying with us passports u will need a visa to do that

error is usually un#- I did 0 then passport #s, or the error weith my phone # needs a +1 then the area code- my family did great for passach.

Guys, in my confirmation it says that luggage is up to 20kg, which is strange because it’s normally 23kg (50lbs). Do people have experience bringing 50lbs on Transaero?

@dan,you are right that nothing matters besides for name as written in passport. But if a kid is 12 years old and you give date of birth as a 11 year old,then you pay for a child fare instead of an adult fare. You will have serious issues at the airport.
Although I think my comment applies mainly when booking over the phone or via a agent. Online, you have to choose adults/kids/infant long before putting in the dob.

Jet Blue indicates on their website that they have an interline agreement with Transaero for connections out of JFK. Any idea how to book them? Transaero’s website doesn’t seem to list destinations that use a Jet Blue connection.

My daughter flew with Transaero. Without getting into a very long traumatic story, she was not allowed to board the plane to New York and sent back to Israel even though she had proper travel papers. They were very rude and unprofessional in how they dealt with her and I understand this has happened numerous times. I would never book with them again. Also after Pesach when she was due to fly back to Israel they cancelled her flight without informing us. Ridiculous story…..

@DB i had the same thing in my conformation. one 20 kg suitcase per person. i thouht it would be 2 pcs of luggage but its a discount fare so its only 20kg

Seems to be dead. The base fares show the same as last night,but the taxes and fees doubled. Fare went from $482 to over $600 now on same base fare.

To all frustrated Israeli’s who keep getting “access denied” this is the rule:
Either:
1) go to kayak.com and search for any random flight from TLV – NYC and after you get your results, filter your airlines to Transaero only. Find a flight that kayak allows you to book DIRECTLY with Transaero and click on the link. This will lead you to Transaero home page in English and does not get blocked.
2) (usually works) put in address bar (not in google) transaero.COM and it will ask you to select a country and language. Select for country, RUSSIAN FEDERATION (not USA). And then by language, select English.

I hope this was of some help.

@chaim: Me and my friend booked one way the same but different return dates. All you have to do is book the tickes in seperate transactactions and each do your own dates. as far as i know they have only 1 flight per direction per day. You probably won’t get assigned seats next to each other but it is very possible that if you ask nicely someone will be willing to switch seats. also if you have problems accesing the site go to transaero.ru/en (english version of the russion site works fine) finally your credit card might red flag the transaction as it’s a russion company. if this happens just call your credit card company and tell them yo aprove of the transaction and it will be allowed.

Flew with them this Summer. Going to Moscow/Israel there was no A/C. They did not have our kosher meals. It’s smelled like a Brighton Beach subway–maybe worse. B.O. that you could almost taste it was so intense. TV worked when it wanted to. You had choice of watching Jupiter ascending or some Jim Carry movie in Russian or watching multiple episodes of hilarious Russian cartoon Masha and The Bear–also in Russian, but kept my 7 year old laughing the whole time. If you are a destitute Kollel family or have no self-respect this this may be an option. Otherwise, Nyet Babooshka.

Transaero announced todaz it will be acquired by aeroflot for 1 RUBEL= 2 Cents. they had no choice other than file bancropcy. russian government said that all already bought tickets will be served, no panic.
