I just read a letter from someone who wrote about her experience with this airline. She equated it to the quality of Spirit Airlines and said it’s not worth the savings. What do you think?
It’s not Spirit but it’s also not Delta or United. Whether it’s worth the savings depends on how you value your money and time.
What about their business class, is it comparable to those airlines hard/soft product?
Was looking at booking and saw that the seat selection was an extra $114 per flight for a reclining seat. Sounds like Spirit to me.
Do you think I can book as two OW flights to try to get this deal leaving from US?
No
Dan is it true that EWR will no longer be included in NYC next year? Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Much ado about nothing it seems. But TBD.
Would it work to book 2 round trip and take the NY leg to Israel and the other half of the second ticket back?
No
Why wouldn’t it work if it’s two separate RT tickets?
Worst airline I have ever flown.
Open to being delayed 23 hours? Open to your flight being canceled and it taking over 2 years to get your money bac?
If so TAP Portugal is for you.
Way worse then Spirit in my three (three times too many) experiences.
Alao flying transatlantic on a A320neo narrowbody makes me claustrophobic
An article claimed that TAP springs surprise baggage and carry on fees on passengers (75-95! per bag). Is that true? Can a passenger so affected complain to DOT if the flight or itinerary involves a US destination or origin?
No, just read the details of your fare.
DOT has jurisdiction over any flight to/from the US.
Sorry to disagree, but my son got hit with the fee ($200) when they weighed his carry on and made him check it as a third suitcase instead of the oversize/overweight carry on charge (60). And since this flight was from TLV to LIS, it would not be under DOT.
If his bag was too heavy, then it gets charged.
TLV-LIS-NYC certainly falls under DOT jurisdiction, but if the bag was overweight then what is the basis for a complaint?
If it falls under DOT then I would like to follow up with them as they did not charge him for an overweight carry on, they checked it as a suitcase and charged as a third suitcase (we had paid for 2).
You can do that, but what did it weigh and what is their allowance?
This is their policy (but they charged him $220):
Please note that if you reach the boarding gate with cabin baggage that exceeds the allowed weight, size or number, it will be carried as checked luggage and the following fees will apply:
From 70 EUR – On domestic and European flights or flights to Morocco.
From 85 EUR / 106 USD / 134 CAD – On intercontinental flights.
Only credit or debit card payments will be available at the boarding gate.
Dispute the difference with your credit card?
Maybe – but it also lends credence to the complaints about surprise baggage fees.
We flew to spain. No issues. They were actually great. Didn’t weigh bags or add on extra costs. I think it’s a hit or miss these days.
They refused to refund my tickets when Israel closed its borders (Covid).
I’ve been reaching out every week since.
They sometimes say they’ll give me airline credit, but even that hasn’t come thru! (yet)
Filed a DOT complaint? Informal and Formal?
CC dispute?
Elal also refuse to refund same time
And their voucher was nor working on next flight
Took 2 month to reach someone by phone and she said since booking more than a week ago (why are you guys not reachable) she couldn’t apply to next flight or refund
Dan what can we do about this elal ?
Going forward will only do united
They are reached
Reliable
Fair resolution
Nothing of this w elal
Refund my $1000 and close your operation
Enough elal
Oh and for taxi newartk to jfk they ask for israrli bank accounts for an American
What ?
I had a great experience with them, great customer service, very comfortable planes, no extra fees, I did this route from TLV to JFK.
Booked a business class ticket with them and without any notice it turns out the first leg is in Y instead of J. Multiple levels of reps argued with me that it was business class despite saying Y and the first leg carrier (Air Canada) only allowing me to select Economy seats. They now admit it is in Y and their error but been weeks without resolution.
