LOT Polish has responded to RyanAir’s plethora of new service between Poland and Israel with new service from Lublin, Gdańsk, Poznań, and Wrocław to Tel Aviv. More intriguing is that they’re increasing their Warsaw to Tel Aviv service from 7 weekly flights to 13 weekly flights.
LOT Polish often has great economy and business class sales from the US to Tel Aviv, but their connection times are awful. I’ve skipped posting some of their deals to Tel Aviv because of them.
For example a flight from JFK to Tel Aviv on 5/14 requires a 10.5 hour connection in Warsaw. A return flight from Tel Aviv to JFK on 5/23 requires a 9 hour connection in Warsaw.
Chicago to Tel Aviv on 5/14 requires a 9.5 hour connection in Warsaw. A return flight from Tel Aviv to Chicago on 5/23 requires a 9 hour connection in Warsaw.
Starting in mid-June the additional Warsaw-Tel Aviv flights will make connections far more palatable.
For example a flight on 6/18 from JFK to Tel Aviv only requires a 3 hour connection in Warsaw. A return flight from Tel Aviv to JFK on 6/28 requires a 1.5 hour connection in Warsaw.
A flight on 6/18 from Chicago to Tel Aviv only requires a 2 hour connection in Warsaw. A return flight from Tel Aviv to Chicago on 6/28 requires a 1 hour connection in Warsaw.
LOT Polish is also launching Newark and Los Angeles service to Warsaw this year and the new flights will enable great connections from there as well.
LOT flies the Dreamliner from the US to Warsaw with lie-flat seating in business, but Warsaw to Tel Aviv is served by a 737 with European style business class. It will be operated by 737-800s which are being added to LOT’s fleet this year as opposed to the current 737-400s operating the route.
LOT is a Star Alliance member, so you can use miles from airlines like United for award flights as well:

What are the rates like?
Don’t forget LO ex YYZ
Hi Dan, which miles are the cheapest to use for flights on LOT from lax to tlv? And can you please update the ultimate israel award chart due to all the new added service to israel?
What dates will they start these new flights?
@Daniel:
Most airlines besides United will tack on fuel surcharges.
@Moshe:
“Starting in mid-June”
The new Newark-Warsaw flight which you posted will not be operated on their dreamliner it will be a wet leased aircraft with non flat bad seats in business.
Also pity that LO is not pricing on revenue tickets together with other star alliance carriers operating to tlv with connections in Europe.
And getting in to TLV at 830pm might be better than 340am, as is the case currently.
@Dan: are there any that impose mild surcharges where it makes it more worth it to use those miles as opposed to united miles? Thank you
@ilherman:
It will turn into an LO 787 later this year.
@Anonymous:
I don’t know what the surcharges are on LOT offhand.
Find LOT award space on United.com and call ANA or Singapore to find out.
@Dan: I checked on the ANA website and a RT (Sep. 11-18) JFK-TLV only had fees of $265 RT. Since you’re showing United charging $45 OW (so $90RT) that’s only $175 more than United and most definitely worth saving the miles by booking on Aegean, ANA or for a OW on Singapore. Maybe repost to the main page because this seems like could be a game changer since you don’t have to use United miles and the YQ is so low!
Awful airline, cancelled flight without prior announcement. No compensation.
Can you credit miles from a paid LOT flight on other Star Alliance FF programs?
Is it a safe airline? Is Warsaw safe?
Which airline am i better off taking on the jfk tlv route in regard to airline safety and reasonable quality:
Aeroflot via moscow or LOT via Warsaw.
What is LOT airline like?
Hello, I am planning on going to Budapest from.belgrade and there is a LOT AIRLINES flying there. I was wondering how can I convert my United point to book the flight with LOT if that’s even worth it
These days they have very good stopover times 3-5 hours and are one of the cheapest out of tlv
