A few DDF members are reporting that El Al has told them that the new deadline for switching from a connecting flight bought during the pricing glitch to a nonstop flight is 09/30. Whether that will be extended again is anyone’s guess, though it is in El Al’s interest to keep making artificial deadlines to get people to switch over…
People are also reporting that El Al has opened up availability for some flights that previously were not available and that they have been successful changing the dates of their trip by a few months!
I’ve taken some heavy flak in some Jewish media outlets over my publicizing of the deal back in August. In case you missed it, here is a copy of my response to some of the character indictments made of myself as well as more background information that doesn’t seem to be have been understood by some of my critics. It was published a few weeks ago by the Yated, a Jewish weekly, and was uploaded online with their permission.

whats the best way to search nothing coming up for me
Nice read…shame how people bash when they know nothing at all
I think you are well within your right to share pricing anomalies when you become aware of them. I appreciate the work you do and the money you save our family. Thanks Dan, we love you!
If the last day is 9/30 when can i change it? it sat night????
I upgraded my November Israel trip tickets to non stoP from NY to Israel back in august. I never received a confirmation email. So I called to check on my tickets and was told my flight was from London to Israel and returning from israel to London on different dates than I booked. I tried explaining to the rep that this is incorrect. He told me my “travel agent” did this and he can’t even access them to change it. I am soo upset! I have no idea how this happened ( I should have taken down the name of the rep who “upgraded” my tickets). But what can I do now?
Has anyone who has changed their flight from stop over to direct been able to change it again to a different direct flight?
Funny thing about this fare, and I’ve never seen it discussed. Maybe it’s bersert that we’re going to Israel. Who knows. Maybe the man upstairs has a master plan… just not revealed at this moment. Sort of makes you think no?
Dan,
If anything I think you just gained a priceless advertisement from all the news outlets as well. start charging more for ads on your site with the influx of viewers.
I read that article by that travel agent, which I think was in Jewish press. I was amazed how the guy could write something so negative about you when he is so blatantly nogeh b’davor. The guy obviously was bitter that the whole thing hurt his bottom line, so he decides to take it out on you with the BS article. Couldn’t believe the jp printed his article.
Dan u have our support.
Dan, well written and excellent response. People also need to remember that El Al also makes additional revenue on these flights with baggage fees, no shows, cancellations, upgrades, date changes fees, liquor and duty-free sold during the flights. The El Al agent told me that they will sue the third party for any losses for incorrectly posting the wrong prices and told me to “Go to Israel and enjoy your trip, you didn’t do anything wrong for buying the ticket”. Thanks Dan
is it still possible to cancel the tickets i tried calling elal quite a number of times and they r a pain to get through to so i kinda gave up onless you think there is a big chance i can cancel
DanR; you are so correct
read that article by that agent in the FJJ and was turned off. Was trying to figure out what his incentive and true motive was. With that non-competitve attitude I hope he will be able to stay in business
@DanR:
FYI – The travel agent you are referring to only deals with groups so it didn’t hurt his bottom line even 1 penny.
When you “klopped al chait” a few days ago, you might have missed a few.
great article. you should have ripped into the other guy more
@Nolad
I know a few people who booked flights for groups @$350
@Nolad:
Not sure what al chest I missed, but one thing is for sure I didn’t go after an Erlich yid (our beloved Dan) in a newspaper based on non factual info with a very biased opinion. The bottom line there was nothing hallachically wrong with anyone buying these tickets and he wrote a very negative article about Dan which I am sure violated many hallachos.
I was lucky enough to get in on the deal and it was the furthest thing on my mind when I klopped al chiet, I don’t know about you but I had much bigger fish to fry
Dan, I don’t think you need to apologize or explain your actions to anyone. You provide information, and everyone is free to act or not act on said information.
One of the less attractive thing about haredi Judaism, as I see it, is that there seems to be a lot of abrogating of personal responsibility in favor of p’sak, where people would much rather have someone just tell them what to do rather than have to grapple with issues themselves. Not that there’s no room to ask a sheliah when its appropriate, but my feeling on this one was that a lot of people were hoping to have a posek retroactively OK what they did.
So, have a Chag Sameach Dan (and everyone else) and keep up the good work!

Hi Judd
dan might interest you to know i never got around to calling elal to change ticket well they called me on their own asking me if i want to change they said they are reaching out to all the people who bought tickets
i keep getting calls from them…. i told them – if they want me to go direct for no charge fine if not stop calling me!
Dan:
Screw the media. As you now know, most of them get it wrong, and don’t care. Don’t believe anything you read in the papers.
@cancel:
In reference to #14 with the name Cancel–
is it possible to cancel your ticket and put another name on the reservation and on what days were your reservation and how many tickets did you buy
@Teiby: As has been stated perhaps several hundred times on this site already (by previous posts about this), you CANNOT EVER change the name on a ticket. Period. Either you fly it, or you cancel it. ‘Nuff said.
Has this been extended again? I changed my flights to direct but I settled for flights I didnt really want because of lack of availability. Can I change them again?
they called me back. got non stop
I bought the tickets and upgraded to non stop- how mnay miles is it per way to upgrade to first class?
An El Al rep. just called me and asked if I would like to change my tickets to non stop, the cost is still $75.00 to change but they are offering to let me take an additional piece of luggage for free with each ticket
does anyone know if I can still cancel the tickets for a full refund? im thinking of cancelling the 4 tickets I purchased,
