American offers 2 potential lie-flat business class products on their 777-200s that will fly to Tel Aviv, reverse herringbone or a business class with mixed rear facing and forward facing seats. The reverse herringbone is more common, but you won’t know which cabin you’ll actually get until a couple of days before the flight. If you see notches on some of the seats in the seat map, then you’ll know you have been assigned the business class with rear facing seats.
I haven’t flown the rear facing product, but the reverse herringbone is a perfectly fine business class seat and from what I understand the rear facing product is decent as well. I do miss United’s Polaris more luxurious bedding though.
AA 777-200 reverse herringbone seating:
You can pay for the ticket with “hybrid points” such as AMEX or Chase points with a card that allows your points to be used at an increased value for airfare in addition to be able to transfer points into airline miles.
If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve® card you can redeem points for 1.5 cents each towards travel. If you have a Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card you can redeem points for 1.25 cents each towards travel.
You can login to your account and redeem Chase points for travel here. The round-trip cost will be 115,595 points with a Sapphire Reserve. That rate include all taxes and you will still earn flight miles as well!
Using AMEX points:
- If you have an AMEX Business Platinum Card you can get a 35% rebate of points used.
- Registration is not required for business class fares.
You can login to your account and redeem AMEX points for travel here.
This is bookable for 195,393 points with AMEX. Plus you’ll get back a 35% rebate with the Business Platinum Card or a 25% rebate with the Business Gold Card, dropping the total needed to as low as 112,705 points. That includes all taxes and you can still earn miles for flying!

my mom was on the rear facing on BA (same product) and said it was a bit nauseous on takeoff and landing
It’s not the same product (AA’s is better), but it still may be less than ideal for some.
Usually you’ll get the forward facing seats, but YMMV.
I have United rountrip ticket currently for coach. If I book an open ended ticket from Israel with AA can I get credit from United for the tlv return flight ? I’m addition after I use the tlv to AA can the return be credited if I don’t use?
What are options and the best play here.
I already transferred. 600k from Marriott no boy to AA from last deal that I made mistake on dates. I also can use Amex platinum points. Please advise.
Disregard. Seems like not available for next month anyway.
There is no flat beds on AA TLV-NYC Business service?
What is “Flagship” Business?
Cheapest I’m seeing is $1954 for April
Dates in bold are $1,733.
I just checked. You can fly one-way economy from NYC and the way back business for like 1700
With the free changes, do you have to pay fare difference?
Always, unless there’s a schedule change.
Thank you.
(That can be a hefty price if the sale is over…)
You can use the credit for any other AA flight.
