ukraine and areorflot are same or cheaper with 2 free checked bags
what is this better?
Virgin is a quality airline.
Ukraine is 2-bit airlines that treat their passengers like dirt:
https://www.dansdeals.com/points-travel/airlines/airline-news/ukraine-airlines-theres-no-religious-discrimination-treated-passengers-poorly-experience/
Aeroflot is somewhere in between the 2.
Why would you lump AEROFLOT together with Ukraine Int’I? They are in a different league.
Aeroflot is way better then Ukraine for sure
Fair enough, updated.
Booked the Virgin flight for Israel. There were no seat assignments. I’m flying with my husband how. Do I go about getting seat selection? Any tricks, would love 1 aisle and 1 window.
Try on Virgin’s site or try calling them?
I was able to pick seats and order KSML on Virgin website immediately by using the reservation booking code provided by Priceline
Thanks
I was able to book seats on Virgin site after
Thanks
Hi Dan, question for you.
I have 2 adults, 4 kids and 1 baby under the age of 2.
Priceline does not support infants on international flights.
any suggestions?
Thank you
Just make your infant 2 and buy a seat for them. Safer way to fly and you’ll be far more relaxed with a child sleeping in a carseat than having to hold him.
Otherwise you can call Virgin to add a lap child.
Be careful though. Because I bought a seat for my 6 month old and they won’t let me bring a rear facing car seat. How else can I have her safe in a seat?
Her head will flop forward in a convertible car seat and besides its soooo annoying to bring through airport.
Personally I’d bring the rear facing carseat and if they made a problem I’d appeal to the pilot.
Be sure to bring the FAA guidance allowing rear facing carseats.
We are looking to fly with 2 young kids, many planes are 3 3 3. How would you got with a family and 2 car seats, if car seats can only be in the window seat?
Carseats can be next to car seats or in the middle seat of the middle section.
Thanks!
The point of a car seat being next to the window is so that it doesn’t block any other passenger from leaving in an emergency. That’s why the middle would also work. If one adult (age at least 14) is travelling with 2 car seats, Virgin wants the car seats on either side of that person. I guess in that case, the adult has easy access to both kids both during flight and in an emergency, and they’re still not blocking any “other” passenger who is not in their party from leaving during an emergency.
Is the FAA guidance relevant when flying on a non-US airline? Every country seems to have different ideas about what’s safest for infants on a plane. I even had a problem once on a short-hop trip to Canada- apparently my car-seat model was not certified by Canadian regulations, even though of course it was FAA-certified and had the sticker on it. The flight attendants claimed my model wasn’t safe enough, and there is a reason that the Canadian regulatory body wouldn’t certify it, and I had to hold the baby while the seat was stored away. It was a short flight so I didn’t bother putting up a massive fight, I wonder what would have happened if I had.
It doesn’t, but push come to shove, most pilots won’t go against FAA recommendations.
https://www.caa.co.uk/Passengers/On-board/Seating-allocation/
Rearward-facing child restraint devices can only be fitted to forward-facing passenger seats.
But their website says straight out that they don’t let rear facings car seat… It’s a UK airline so they don’t care about USA regulations.
I even called virgin and they told me that “the car seats are tested for cars not airplanes, so they will only allow forward bec those are tested”
If I bring it an I risking they not letting me bring it on at all and leave me with nothing??
My other idea was to bring it on and “install” it forward so no one pays attention to me, then switch it after take off when everyone goes to sleep.
That’s something new! I flew with them in March and it did not say “AFT facing car seats not allowed.” I have their then-requirments in email and also have their internal memo from 2014. What do you say about this change, Dan?
They only allow forward because those are tested? Really? Then how does it have a sticker that it’s FAA approved? FAA approved infant rear-facing car seats are ONLY allowed to be used rear facing. That’s the only way they are allowed to be used, and they are approved for air travel. So that makes no sense.
What a pity they changed their policy.
Virgin is not an American carrier, they follow the CAA. But their website specifies that you can use it, and I also have a copy of their internal memo advising the crew of this and what they need to check to allow it.
At the gate, they tried to tell me I wouldn’t be able to use it during taxi, takeoff, landing, but I told them it says on the website etc. so they said they’d ask the “FSM.” It worked out in the end but it wasn’t smooth sailing. Had to be polite and assertive. The FAs I dealt with were extremely polite and tried to hear me out, this was no power struggle.
So virgin let you have a rear facing car seat? What did you show them to allow you that?
A printout of their web page. This was in March and May. But they changed it now to exclude rear-facing car seats, effectively prohibiting infant car seats.
Orlando flights require an airport change from Gatwick to Heathrow
Il take areorflot cheaper/2 bags
Is this bookable with Chase UR?
Only Priceline has this fare. Slightly more on other sites.
Virgin $3790 has same flight as Priceline for $666!! May 10-14
I want to fly in August 2020. Do you know when those flights open up?
same here
Me too!
$449 RT the other direction, TLV-BOS, many dates (but not end of December, nor right around Pesach).
Thanks for this info!!
Are there any non-stop with these prices?
I was also wondering if I can get business for this price
Nonstop to and from London
How many virgin atlantic points? Are they also on sale?
what dates are availble from boston on the post it only has dates for nyc
Should be very similar to NYC.
Hi I’m also interested in August 2020 please keep us updated if u have any great deals for then
same here
Booked for Lag Baomer. Amazing price for that time of year.
Nesiah tova!
any way to get a stopover less than 5 hours?
Depends on the dates.
Hey Dan slightly off topic but is el al still planning to start nonstops from Chicago in March????
Yes.
Is this still valid? I tried booking for a trip in January and I don’t see the $626 price as an option.
Which dates?
Curious why you always mention that it’s bookable on Priceline, what is the advantage of booking there vs direct through airline? Don’t all airlines have the 24 hour cancellation policy? Or are there better deals there? Thanks.
1. Priceline is cheaper than direct or on any other booking site for this fare.
2. Priceline gives more than the 24 hours that airlines give directly.s.
3. Non-US airlines make it very hard to get a 24 hour refund, with Priceline it’s easy.
4. Some airlines (JetBlue and others) don’t allow 24 hour refunds within 7 days of departure, while Priceline does.
I am trying to book WITHOUT a Saturday stay and i am still getting these rates.
Am I missing something?

Is $628 a good deal for Lag Ba’Omer? What’s the usual cost that time of year? It does seem quite cheap. But many times Dan comes up with even cheaper deals, that’s why I sometimes hesitate to book so far in advance.
These are good deals, but y’all know birthright is completely free, right? And they give you free accommodations, food and attractions.
They won’t take your kids but let’s be honest you need a break from them anyway.
is it possible to upgrade these tickets with points and if yes how many virgin points does it cost to upgrade these tickets to premium or upper class?
It seems the cheap tickets are not for Pesach. Is there any way to get a ticket leaving New York/Newark on April 6th and fly back on April 19th and still get a good deal? Priceline’s options are all over 1,000.
Alternately, I would go for Sukkos but that seems even more money.
I got tickets but I want to upgrade to Premium using Skymiles. I contacted both Virgin and Delta by phone and they are each saying that it can’t be done. @dan, what are my options at this point?
I am trying to book these flights for January from either JFK or Newark for dates in the time listed and prices are coming up much higher than this rate. Please help.
I am new to this site. How do I book a Virgin Atlantic flight leaving JFK on March 3 or Feb 25 to Tel Aviv and to return at the end of March for the $623 fare?
looking to go to israel from nyc midweek feb 9th to feb 12 no sat stay what is the best deal?
